Title: Same Difference
Post by: Markus1981 on October 07, 2008, 12:12:53 AM
Ok this might not quite be in the right place but I wasn't sure where else to put it. I have just heard the clip of the new Same Difference single and I absolutely love it. This is pure pop at it's finest. Apparantly they have worked with Britney & Westlife's writers in Sweden - who I am assuming could involve some of the old Cheiron team.

I think you guys will like this song too as it has an amazing melody in the chorus that really reminds of the Cheiron tracks and apparntly also has a great key change which their songs were also famous for. I hope there are plenty of tracks like this on their debut album.

Let me know what you all think....

Absolutely catchy, this is something "Epicentre" would easily do IMO, I really liked the snippet, can you tell me more about them, where are they from?, when this will be officially released?

Thanks "Markus1981" for letting us know about them, we need Pop to concur the world again.

Btw this should have beeen in "Off -Topic and Other Music" thread.

Glad you liked the clip. Same Difference are brother and sister Sean & Sarah. They came third in last years X Factor and Simon Cowell signed them up to his Syco label. The single is released in the UK on 10th November followed by the album a week later on the 17th.

I put this in here rather than in off topic as there is actually a good chance this could be a Cheiron writers song as they have been working with some of them in Sweden  ;D

I had no idea who they were but now that you say they're from X-Factor it's 95% sure the song is produced by Aside productions! I can see Jorgen or David producing that! Any bets on the credits? ;)
Thanks for letting us know Markus!

To me it doesn't sound like a typical Swedish song, however, I know they are working with Quiz & Larossi, so it could be.

yes, quite catchy!

yes, agree with Sabine, probably Aside or Jorgen who seem pretty tight with Simon Cowell.

Apparently they have covered Marie Serneholt's "I Need a House".

Yeah I Need A House is said to be on the album as well as a cover of Kylie's Turn It Into Love given a 2008 twist which is said to be Steps' Deeper Shade Of Blue crossed with September - if so it sounds amazing!

They have worked with Quiz & Larossi so this could be one of the tracks. The melody of the chorus really does sound Swedish to me, nowhere else produces such great structure, particularly with the minor's.

Oh thanks Sabine for drawing my attention to this with the point you mentioned, I just hope this track is an "A Side" production, I do agree with Markus1981, the song is very Swedish, Quiz & Larossi have done similar tunes, but as I said "Epicentre" have done this kinda thing, anyways I'm sure this is a Swedish piece of work.

Yup it sounds like their debut single "We Are One" was written/produced by Jorgen Elofsson, and is one of a few A-Side tracks on their forthcoming album, along with a few songs from Stock/Waterman (including a cover of the old Kylie hit "Turn it into Love".

Sorry that was my fault with bad wording... "Turn It Into Love" is definately an old Stock/Aitken/Waterman classic, but it sounds like Matt Aitken may not have been around for the new songs, hence just the Stock/Waterman credit... hope that buzz is wrong tho, Matt is really a crucial part of that English songwriting/producing trio!

Well this cd promo pic confirms that Jorgen is indeed the writer of We R One along with someone else whose name I can't make out. So great to hear more upbeat Jorgen songs I hope there are more by him on the album. The track is also produced by Quiz & Larossi.

I think Matt Aitken was "the mind" of the trio. When he left the Pwl Stock/Waterman alone failed many productions and they never had a hit until Steps Last thing on my mind covered by bananarama's song.

It doesn't sound much different.

Beter Love sounds like "It's The Way You Make Me Feel" from Steps.

This band are bringing Pop back I guess

I love all the clips so far. Even if they do all sound like other artists. As has already been said 'Better Love' sounds like It's The Way You Make Me Feel by Steps, which of course was written by Jorgen so I'm thinking this could be too.

All The Roads Lead To Heaven sounds exactly like an old Tina Cousins song, and If You Can't Dance it quite similar to Scissor Sisters I Don't Feel Like Dancing.

I think they've done a great job with I Need A House too from what I can hear but of them all We R One is still my favourite. When are we going to hear it in full???

They really are bringing pop back and I really really hope it is a success and others follow suit.

I'm so excited to get my hands on this album now - only one week to go! It is a true pop album and takes me back to my real pop roots. I love the sound of all the samples even though there are so many covers on there - Let Me Be The One, Nothings Gonna Stop Us, I Need A House, Breaking Free, Turn It Into Love & Still Amazed - but at least they've picked great songs to cover.

I think a few of the tracks are PWL, I know Let Me Be The One, Turn It Into Love & Still Amazed are. But I really hope there are plenty of Swedish productions on there too. Obviously we know We R One is and can guess I Need A House will be too and I'm fairly certain from the sound of them that Better Love Me & Starts To Beat Again will be as well.

From the samples my favourite after We R One is Better Love Me and I've always love Turn It Into Love so I hope their version is great too.

Who sang "Still Amazed" before and the others can u tell us, I only know Breaking Free which was sang by High School Musica(Vanessa and Zac), I am sure Still Amazed is produced by Swedes as well, if not Joergen!

Still Amazed was orginally recorded by Irish pop group Six. They were the winners of Popstars in Ireland but had only had two hit singles before they dissappeared forever. Their version of Still Amazed sounded the same as the Same Difference clip but was called The Way It Used To Be. They also had Let Me Be The One on their album (and it was a big hit single) and this track is definitely PWL and I have been informed that Still Amazed is too as Six apparently didn't work with the Swedes on their album.

Here are Six's versions of both the tracks so you you get a very good idea of what they will be like on the Same Difference album...

Still Amazed/The Way It Used To Be

Let Me Be The One

Also, the B Side to the single We R One, which was released this week is called Like A Miracle and is another ex cheiron track written by Jorgen, David Kreuger and Per Magnusson and produced by David & Per for A Side. It sounds quite like Let Me Carry You in the chorus, but the Agnes version rather than the H & Claire one. Also, both tracks feature the fabulous Jeanette Olsson on backing vocals.

Like a Miracle! Where can we hear it?
Jeanetet Olsson as a background singer, that's wondeful, she's my favourite after Nana Hedin...  ;D

I was soooo disappointed with the number 13. I'm really hoping the album does better but I think it's even less likely - I'll just have to keep everything crossed!!

I picked up a copy of the album today and it really is amazing. I'm surprised at how much Swedish writing/production is actually on the album but very excited after seeing the credits. For those whoo are interested here they are....

1. We R One - J.Elofsson/P.Westerlund Produced by Quiz & Larossi
2. Let Me Be The One - Romdhane/Larossi/Waterman Produced by Quiz & Larossi
3. Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now - Diane Warre/Albert Hammond Produced by Quiz & Larossi
4. I Need A House - J.Elofsson/E.Rodrigues Produced by Quiz & Larossi
5. Breaking Free - Jamie Houston Produced by Per Magnusson & David Kreuger
6. If You Can't Dance - Paul Barry/Graham Stack/Sarah Smith/Sean Smith Produced by Graham Stack Additional Production by Quiz & Larossi
7. Right Between The Eyes - Kristian Lundin/Savan Kotecha Produced by Kristian Lundin
8. All The Roads Lead To Heaven - J.Elofsson/P.Westerlund Produced by Quiz & Larossi
9. Betetr Love Me - J.Elofsson/P.Westerlund/H.Sorvaag Produced by Quiz & Larossi
10. Starts To Beat Again - J.Elofsson/P.Westerlund/H.Sorvaag Produced by Quiz & Larossi
11. Turn It Into Love - Stock/Aitken/Waterman Produced by Waterman Additional Production by Quiz & Larossi
12. Still Amazed - Romdhane/Larossi/Waterman Produced by Quiz & Larossi

Jeanette Olson does backing vocals on almost every track along with Anders von Hofsten, Kristian Lundin, Andreas Carlsson & Anna Nordell!!

I'm surprised tha Quiz & Larossi have produced almost the whole album but they've done a great job. And I'm glad to see five Jorgen songs and a Kristian song too. The biggest surprise for me was that All The Roads Lead To Heaven was written by Jprgen as this, as far as I know, is really a new sound for him - and i LOVE  it!

My favourite tracks are We R One, ATRLTH, Better Love Me & Starts To Beat Again - all Jorgen songs lol!

the song would be perfect if it would have a chorus , but in this song I dont found a  chorus separate of the verses , something is wrong in this song , this song remind a bit to ''I'm alive'' to me  .
by the why I love ''all the roads lead to heaven'' , I love the swedish songs in eurovision ,hero was amazing !!

When cheiron disbanded kristian is missing. Jake schultz is missing.Herbie chriclow is missing.

Max,rami, jorgen instead are always on top with good song and new sound.

Probably kristian don't have this big talent.I'm sure of that :D

Totally disagree, he's a great songwriter, what do u mean he isn't a good songwriter, do u mean he writes a pile of crap?, every Cheiron guy has done so, from I Need A House to Tap That, and please I can't think of a memorable song from Rami as he's usually been sticked with Max in the credits, never heard a song produced by him alone tbh...and he is no way in comparsion with Kristian ;)

Album expected to miss the top 20 guys as far as I know so far, I will keep you updated.

Yes, "Let me be the one" and "Still amazed" are covers by the Irish Popstars-winners Six.

In both songs Swedish hitmakers QuizLarossi were involved.

Yes,you're right turnaround. I've heard that song performed a few years ago by six, infact it is familiar when i heard it.

As I told ya guys, the album completely missed the top 20, it debuted at # 22, while the single fell from 13 all the way to 30 :-\

Alex, Same Difference's music is cool but it is very very hard to be such a strong character as Britney. I think the character accounts for more than 50% in a musical career, whereas the music and the voice is less, paradoxically. I remember Celine Dion once talking about it. Britney will always sell, cause Britney is Britney ;)

Gosh, I was hoping they'd do a bit better this week but I fear the album has officially started its way down in the charts :( Sad, it's so good and fresh pop!

I am afraid to tell you that they are officially doomed, I just hope they release a second single...

Well, for one, they shouldn't aim so much at kids. Just because it's pop doesn't mean you should only focus on kids (who don't buy records, for that matter.)

It's time to grow up and show a more mature side when it comes to music videos, album covers etc.

My fav song on the album is: http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=whcFdKomNIA

I hope it will be the 2nd single.

Well, I actually think KIDS buy stuff, who do you think buy Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers?, their sales are usually GREAT, they have a great deal of kids/teenagers fan-bases...

I see your point tiiger about growing up, Same Difference'salbum is good, but a bit dated, my younger sister once saw their video and went "OH GOSH I didnt know people are still doing this kind of music", and too many others on forums I go to thought their music is a bit cheesy, well, I didnt expect the album and the single to do much more than they did TBH!

Yes it's not modern pop and this album was surely not meant to be commercial!
It was actually made for us on the forum!  8)

To be fair the album has actually done quite well with sales. The chart positions are dissappointing but it is a difficult time of year and the sales they got for their first week were actually enough to get them a top 5 album throughout the rest of the year (even top 3 for a lot of weeks). I've heard they are definitely releasing a second single but I don't know what it will be. Unfortunately I don't think another single will be all that successful for them. I think they will probably be better as an albums act like HSM/Hannah Montana/Jonas Brothers are here in the UK i.e. they sell a lot of albums but their singles are never successful. I think if they are to release another single then it should be All The Roads Lead To Heaven as it is the most mature track on the album and I think has more chance to open them up to a slightly wider audience and change perception of them a little.

As long as I get more music from them then I'm happy!

"Right between the eyes" has the most impressing background vocals (Anorah, Andreas, Kristian) I've heard for a long time, and a nice "I'm alive"-ish production.

Great cover, better than the original by Marilou which you can check out here:

Yes, it's very similar to I'm alive! I also prefer Same Difference's version. Yeah the background singers are perfect!

Does anyone know the singer Edurne?

She is from Sweden I think and she covered now "All the roads lead to heaven" in Spanish.

It's called "No vuelvas a mi"

Does this link work for you?
