I hope so, or max will lose probably his only chance for having a N1 this year.

She reinvented herself, and she did it impressively right. It grew on me, but it's not what I expected, I don't think anyone could expect something like this. I want to know who made this.

I like the sounds, the production but hey, that is a first single for the biggest pop artist right now? Come on.

Liked the song on the first listen.
I think, she also wants to perceived to be "edgy" like katy perry with her last album.
But in contrast this song is not wired, but incorporates horror elements mixed with elegance and coolness.
It's still a risky move. I don't think this will be played as often on the radio as her last hits, since it doesn't fit in the happy cheerful songs category. Also she could lose a lot of her old fans of heartfelt love songs over this, but maybe she has some songs for them, too.

The way she says the chorus. This is sad, we reach the point where everything could be a sample since the atrocity of Pharrell and Marvin Gaye.

I like RFI way better than the first song from "Reputation"
The chorus is really catchy.

I'm starting to get into Ready For It.

Love the sound design and the topline, the only thing I don't like is the chorus.
The bridge is the strongest part.

Baby, let the games begin  ::)

The chorus is very reminiscent to a 1989, the old taylor didn't die... entirely.

Interesting about Swift is also her new ticket selling approach. Fans have to outcompete each other in buying albums (up to 13 times), buying merch and in watching her music videos 5 times each day, if they want tickets for her show. Her fanbase is large enough so that could really screw typical metrics and help in dismanteling old records. I guess she actually has a chance at taking adeles record of selling 3.38mil album copies in the first week, even when most of her fans are young and likely don't listen to CDs any more.

The drums are quite annoying on RFI.
And I see no connection between verse and chorus, sounds like two independent parts.

Maty Noyes has a new song out, called Say It To My Face. This should've been produced by Max & Ali and then sung by Taylor and we would have a perfect Reputation single.

Ok that is basically the nicely done classic taylor love song. Curious if it will make the top ten. Her old fans are going to love this.

The two max songs did kinda flop in my opinion. Dont know what they planed but they probably should have left a bigger impact.

This one specially it's self written.

Is she trying to break the record for most physicals sales in the first week or what?

Seems like only the best of the best worked on that album. The economically most successful artist of our time, with the most successful producers (apart form luke) and also the best mixing. What could go wrong ;).

At last Max and Jack could sound a little bit generic, but overall it's a good album that kinda suits the creative turn taylor took, more electronic, so much more autotune, edgier but not as much as witness. I don't think Max could earn a N1 from here but it's predicted to sell around a million copies in its first week in US, just like 1989.

TIWWCHNT has arguably the catchiest chorus of the album.

I could've sworn DWOHT is an Ali song. Honestly, is there a chance they confused Holter with Ali? The beginning reminds me a lot of Ariana's Touch It.

TIWWCHNT has arguably the catchiest chorus of the album.

I don't think so, something about the chords reminded me of True Disaster, not something objective, more like a feeling. And the Outro is very reminiscent to Mitt Team and Bon Appetit.

When I looked all the other instrumentals shared in this forum I was expecting something like that, it's a shame I can't find it in good quality, it's very different without any kind of vocal arrangement.
And others like Dancing with our hands tied it's basically the same song.

http://www.idolator.com/7688497/taylor-swift-new-deal-universal-music-group?view-all

https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/music/2018/11/19/taylor-swift-signs-new-record-deal-lobbies-higher-pay-others/2054412002/

Taylor signed with Republic and UMG.

"As part of my new contract with Universal Music Group, I asked that any sale of their Spotify shares result in a distribution of money to their artists, non-recoupable," she wrote. "They have generously agreed to this, at what they believe will be much better terms than paid out previously by other major labels. I see this as a sign that we are headed towards positive changes for creators – a goal I'm never going to stop trying to help achieve, in whatever ways I can."

This isn't the first time Swift has gone to bat for artists against streaming services. She previously pulled her albums from Apple Music in 2015 to protest Apple's decision to forego paying artists during a free three-month trial of the service.

Smart move. Props to Taylor.

She left the label that her father owns?

And, don't artists overestimate the streaming income? Spotify lives on google adsense and adsense income is a dollar for 1000 views in the richest parts of the world. 100 000 views = 100 dollars. Not of big help for new artists, but big difference for Taylor herself and for her already rich and famous friends.

I want to be so naive to believe that TS cares about others.
Title: Re: Taylor Swift - new album "Reputation" "... Ready For It?" Max Martin

That is weird!
I cant believe Big Machine would not have given her everything UMG promised her. She already got everything (played the biggest venues, no 1s, made more money than every other artist for many years) while being with them. Maybe family conflicts? Or has UMG really something special to offer for her?

The quoted part of the deal has nothing to do with streaming income, as i understand it, it only means if UMG sells their Spotify stock on 'wall street' their artists will get some of the money. This probably means UMG will hold their Spotify shares longer. Good for Spotify?! I think this is manly a small publicity bonus for Taylor.

Well, Big Machine is UMG. And their roster is small, 20 artists or so.

So basically, it's the same thing... with different name.

About the royalties and stuff, she put her catalogue out of Apple Music in order to gain what she wanted, which was a smart move at the time. But I agree with you guys, looks like a publicity stunt.

I like how the HUGE difference between power and techniques of Brendon and Taylor vocals is neutralized so smoothly.

So... People who know Scooter are on his side, people who don't are touched by Taylor's words.
Everything comes down to fact checks, they know their truth, we don't.

In theory artists should be allowed to own their masters, but if Scott in his statement was telling the truth then Taylor's words are completely discredited.

Some years ago, it was almost impossible to own your own master recordings because you needed a big amount of money to get these records done.
Nowaways, it's not like that, but when you're an unsigned artist and get your deals with no guidance you do mistakes like this, just like Kesha and her 8 album contract.

And for example, why do you see the names of a-list artists on their records when they get their songs through publishers or A&R's or writing camps?
Industry standards have to change.

I absolutely agree about ALWAYS having close people who you trust but publishing deals is another topic, way more complicated.
I agree about the emotional connection to your own songs but, do a contract take your songs from you? If a big company invest in your career, I agree about getting your money back and a bit more, but these contracts are abusive. Industry standards are abusive.

Yep. Absolutely agree. All the same.

After the Tiny Desk I was thinking about the production choices and Taylor doing the same all over and over and over and over again.
The Man could have been "How To Get The Girl" from 1989, basically. A rewrite.

Basically that's the importance of the producers and collaborators: the sound.

Why would she release this ahead of RED's album next month?
If this is any indication on what she has done with Max/Shellback songs then it's very underwhelming and I don't want to hype none of these re-recorded songs.
I wonder if Shellback did produce this or is it because it's reusing elements from the original production done by him... but she scrapped Max elements therefore he's not credited.
Maybe too much speculation for a song that practically sounds the same to the original with very minimal changes.

Yeah, this is still nice, even though it's not as "sharp" as the original. It has more of Taylor's stamp on it, especially the more mature vocals.

Even though these re-releases are geared at taking away streams from the original masters, of which she is not an owner, it's definitely also a statement about just how much she values ownership in the music business. Also, it must be fun to get to re-imagine your songs and basically cover yourself.

I'm excited for Red but even moreso 1989.

Taylor Performs "Wildest Dreams" at The GRAMMY Museum

This version is my favourite by far. I always saw Wildest Dreams as an attempt to do a poppier Lana del Rey song.

I think she's been quoted saying LDR was an inspo behind the song?

I remember around this time in 2014 when I first listened to Wildest Dreams walking through the park in Brooklyn, right when 1989 came out. The changing Autumn leaves, cool weather, and first hearing tthe layered vocals and euphoric melody of the song. Such a strong sensory association.

Out of all versions, I actually prefer the radio mix with the stronger percussion and drums. Feels more epic.

Lana should record Wildest Dreams. Win win.

I was right, you all were wrong when said there will be no Max!
Max isn't working with poor-work-ethic people.

By the way, the album leaked if anyone cares to listen to it a little bit early. I'm just gonna wait till tonight 'cause I've already waited 5 months so 🤷‍♂️ not really a point. "Message in a Bottle" is apparently a huge bop, though, so I'm excited!

I just listened to Message in a Bottle and no joke it's a huge bop. Amazing melody that is pure Max. Really fantastic pop song.

I'm surprised, I thought the production was going to be VERY similar to the original version, just like Fearless (Taylor's Version) but it doesn't seem to be the case, Taylor really changed things a little bit with this album, the Max and Shellback songs are not better but it's a breath of fresh air nonetheless.

The mixes are strange as well; why do the vocals seem so loud in the mix?

I thought the same thing at first listen.

Mixing Engineer: Bryce Bordone, Serban Ghenea
Produced by Christopher Rowe.

Weirdly enough wildest dreams (Taylor's version) sounds way more polished than the other 4 Max's songs from red.

Also sounds like a Fearless album track imo, topline wise at least

Subtle changes (and I like it), I like that Taylor is considering using the remixes from the Swedes, she did twice in the past for Elvira's remixes.
I hope Fat Max Gsus becomes the next big thing alongside Elvira, are they part of the Wolf Cousins?

He isn't a part of WC, he is a classmate or maybe just a childhood friend of Shellback. Nepotism in its finest.

Did TS team were afraid to write "Jesus" in song's title? Why Fat Max G?

Maybe it because that Max Martin (Sandberg) and the boys are Jews That's why they were afraid to have Jesus in the title.

Pretty safe to say it has to do with Taylor, or at least her management.

I like the remix a lot better.

The beat is very similar to Heart to Break by Kim Petras. Might even be the same bpm?

One shouldn't be too picky considering the musical environment we live in today. Unlike the period 30 years ago, today every melody or every chord progression we hear was already exploited several times in the past. As a consequence great majority of today top chart songs appear corny at the best. That familiar feeling as you have heard it so many times before, but in a slightly different package. There is no surprise and excitement in today hits. Only best of the best like frankly Max are capable of surprising the listener from time to time with a semi-fresh melody. Other poor souls that are less capable are destined to compose sub-standard songs that pass sonic make-up like heavy compressing, exciting and spreading hooks like Covid then enhancing by the people like Serban. For majority of them it is the matter of belonging to the famous music writing teams because getting on the chart has more to do with who you know than with what you know. I'm regularly amused by reading about 'new fresh talents' only to realize how average they actually are.

Another bad thing that happened to the music was spreading Cheiron 'set of rules' and a way of thinking about making music to the people of average talent. While original creators used their talent and hard work to mould those rules as a byside product, copycats fell into thinking that following other people rules will somehow make them appear more talented. The result can be heard on the everyday radio, pretty sad if you ask me.

So next time I heard about some new stellar guy, I would love to hear something new in his or her music that others will try to copy.

1989 (https://open.spotify.com/album/64LU4c1nfjz1t4VnGhagcg) Taylor's version is released if anyone interested how shitty these songs are without good producers.
Wildest Dreams (Taylor's Version) has a co-producing credit by Shellback.
Ryan Tedder is credited as a producer on his respective songs but the sound is so bad, I don't know what to say. I know places was such a nice song and this version is a spotify-core bedroom record with unbalanced parts. Youtube covers sound better.

100% agree. Style, Blank Space, I Know Places, Shake it Off were laughably bad. Like Kidz Bop covers sung by a 32 year old. just bad.
