Hey there,
I am thinking of giving this forum into other hands. This means: If anyone is interested in hosting our board, please contact me via PM.

Ideally you can host this forum on your own webspace with your own domain. The content of the forum could be transferred via a dump of the database.

You need. SMF Forum software (php, mysql)

Kind regards,
turnaround

And I liked it..

How long have you been hosting this site? Just curious

turnaround

More than 10 years for sure, I guess around 12.
And I liked it..

j.fco.morales

Oh.

I mean, can't we keep this same host?

Gino

Hi there, are you selling the site? Or just "passing it" to someone who can keep it running?

bugmenot

How many visitors this site has on average?

Can you access this page?  :)

Then you get an idea.

I want the forum to be continued. But I don't want to host it anymore on my own webspace as I plan to cancel my subscription.

The costs each year are around 40 Euros so not that much.
And I liked it..

Nice numbers.
You could add a little of adsense and get these 40 Euros, why unsubscribe?
Or you just sick of responsibility?

New laws and regulations in Europe that make it really difficult to host a site in Germany these days. It's really not about the money.
And I liked it..

So to avoid those laws the site should change url from a German domain .de to something else, and the owner should be not an eu citizen?

turnaround

The site should be compliant to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Data_Protection_Regulation

And I think we need a https certificate too.

There are    law firms who try to sue you because people pretend to have "personal distress" when a site has no https (no joke)
And I liked it..

nanofives

What a nice way to overcomplicate things.
