Interviewers asked her why she choose to work with luke and she says that aaron joseph and relatives told her that luke is innocent, afterwards she confirmed that herself.
I'd say that she is clever enough to get to work with luke now that no one wants to.

The only song I liked is MAKIN MONEY with Kiiara, maybe because it's the only one Luke made with Cirkut. I can't recall the last time Luke worked so much without Cirkut (excluding before they met) and maybe most songs are bad because Henry isn't there.
I like the idea of Luke collaborating with new people, DallasK, Ryan Orgen, what a disappointment that Lil Aaron is... Just bad for me.

Yep, because the feature is still not available in Latin America.

And Can't Do Better is very good.
I guess we have to think about this new Lukasz era as "Made In China".

I wanted to comment about the many songs produced by Luke this week... but I don't know where.

She released a full album/mixtape, all songs written and produced by Luke (listed as MADE IN CHINA), no Cirkut co-write, couldn't finish it all, but sounds very good at first glance. The whole thing is Halloween-themed.
There's co-writes by Aaron Joseph and Sarah Hudson.

None of her previous singles made the album, although it seems a new concept/approach for Kim.

All the songs co written by Aaron Joseph and Jesse Saint John. Also features some cowrites by Sarah Hudson.

Boo b*tch! is my fave. Love the instrumental interludes.

I want those SOPHIE produced songs to be released soon, I don't mind that sounds too much like Charli XCX.

TRANSylvania got me at first glance.
It's interesting the similarities and differences of Luke without Cirkut, I can hear him all over the place, yet modern. All this time I thought Cirkut was doing most of the job.

People used to mock her in the media for working with Luke but now people are starting to like her, specially the LGBT community.

It's always nice to hear something new from Luke but this song it's not material for a first single of a new album, more like a filler from the second half of an album, like ghost by katy perry on the prism era.

The album is out with 3 new songs, all produced by Luke. I wish she was more popular, although interviewers refer as her as a big artist. From the interviews I saw, it's clear that she still doesn't want to talk about Luke, which is a bummer because she spent time talking about the other writers or producers she had on the album.

Such a big team and a lot of production credits, I wonder if they recorded this during quarantine time or if it's something done before. It's a well polished sound. Way better than Reminds Me.

I've read it was recorded in 2016. That's why the vocals sound demo-ish and not as current as her recent songs.

I think it could've been way more polished and elevated. The mix is off and it just sounds like a lazy release.

Miles Wesley is signed to Prescription songs, the most succesful charting non-major label at the moment, which Dr Luke runs. You can follow them at instagram: they post their new releases every friday in their storyline. One of the other three songwriters on this song is Rocco Valdes. He is also signed to prescription songs. Lil Jon is also signed to prescription songs as a songwriter/producer, in fact they have a team of artists, producers, songwriters, topliners which consists of about 120 people. Some others on the list: Bonnie Mckee, Emily Warren, Lauv, Lil Aaron, Doja Cat, Ammar Malik. A manager of prescription songs plans in songwriting sessions where those people are linked. Probably there was a songwriting session planned between Luke, Rocco Valdes, Miles Wesley and perhaps also Christian Dold (Diamond Pistol). Although I'm not sure if the latter is part of the creative team of prescription songs.

Prescription Songs is a publisher and looks like runs like a 360 agency: publishing, management, development and licensing.
They have people that create content and they manage that catalog and make money out of it while Luke oversees everything.

And I wouldn't be surprised that he gets a % of everything these creators make.

The thing is: nowadays artists build relationships with their creative partners instead of placing songs like it used to be back in the day, which was write songs and pitch them to different people.

She followed the traject set out by AWAL. It is a system of hierarchy. She grew so big that she got to the highest level in the hierarchy which is getting signed to a major label. Their strategy is somewhere on their website. She, just like Lil Nas X, is very relevant to spread a positive message to society, a message of inclusiveness of both gays (nas) and ts (kim)

I find it funny how there is SO much emphasis on Kim getting "huge" and having her breakthrough like Doja. Maybe she's poised for it, having signed with a label.

That doesn't guarantee anything, it just means she's getting invested in more financially. Booking the VMAs and EMAs, attending the Met Gala, etc are all huge for her. I'd like to see people celebrate that more than wondering if she can crossover to mainstream. Just being at these events is huge for a trans pop star - her EMAs performance was a spectacle with nearly 40 dancers. She's come a long way.

Daaamn. This post reeks of transphobia. I'm not one to use that word lightly but a lot of the conversation here is being done so in a very narrow, fixed mindset.

Why should we automatically assume that just because a "typical" 14 year old kid won't find a trans woman cool means it is out of the question? Also, how do you define a "typical" 14 year old these days? Gen Z is the most progressive generation yet and I think changing our own bias mindsets is the first step in changing the terrible perception trans people face in society.

Again, I'm no SJW and I suppose discourse around trans visibility in pop music is an important one to be had, but much of it surrounding Kim has a very pointed and negative tone lately. Idk if it's bc she's leaning into hyper-sexualized raunch/camp with Coconuts (also, since when has pop/hip-hop/rap/etc NOT been hyper-sexualized??) and that makes people uncomfortable? or if transphobia is truly more pervasive in the pop community than even I thought. Either way, it's disconcerting  :-\

It's not that I think in a transphobic way, I in fact like everything she does and I hope she gets the opportunity to become the next big thing, the next poster girl. However, I have the view that a transphobic mindset is much more likely to be present in an undeveloped brain, as is the case with 14 year olds (don't argue that their brain is totally developed, because theoretically it is not). If they are receptive to transphobia, relatability to the artist decreases. I anticipate that the group of youngsters who find ts people (openly) not cool (or: unrelatable) will be huge majority. So don't transphobia me and let's see what they do, how they embrace her.

Undeveloped brains aren't the only ones that have the capacity for prejudice, let alone transphobia. Fully developed adult brains do too. Besides, kids brains are way more malleable. Also, I'd argue that often times relatability increases the more someone engages with a person they had a prejudice against. Listening to their story, consuming their content/music... it humanizes them.

Either way, in my opinion, saying "oof, not sure she'll make it, she's trans" doesn't have the best optics. It's almost like a self-fulfilling prophecy by way of suggestion. Even putting that out there is perpetuating the stereotype that trans people can't be successful in a mainstream market. It might be difficult, sure, because it's not the norm. The truth is, Kim has already garnered commercial success to a degree. The goal by having her signed to Republic is to broaden that influence.

No one would have agreed 2 or 3 years ago that a song about gay sex by a black rapper would reach N1 and be one of the most successful songs that year.
Homophobia and transphobia still exists, but it doesn't mean the general public won't consume the music made by these artists and generate big commercial success. Kim Petras may be paving the way for future artists like these, or even one for herself, I still have faith that she will blow up eventually.
Luckily no one is complaining she's working with Luke anymore, that's a step forward.
I would say she should detach herself from Paris Hilton, there's more prejudice from being close to her rather than being Trans IMO.

-I don't take back a word of what I say. If I see children being scared or finding TS people weird, then I can address that and say that it is a factor which potentially decreases relatability. Dont blame me for the situation, I only observe what I see in my society.

-Children are malleable and that's why pop music is focused on them. I did not speak of adults and I don't speak about adults when I discuss the question whether some new pop thing will make it or not because traditionally adults are irrelevant to the answer of that question. I don't care about adults experience of new pop music.

-Stop calling me transphobic. I do not agree with people who think like transphobics think. I only touch upon people who do think like that. When I grew up children only openly listened to cool artists, and whatever be the case they couldn't be gay because you could get mocked for that. It was just a fact back then and as far as I know time hasn't evolved so hard that suddenly gays aren't target of mockery at high schools anymore.

Do pop songs need to have almost 10 writers and producers nowadays?? No wonder music sounds very hollow and plastic. Too many cooks in the kitchen. Just remember it took just Freddie Mercury to compose Bohemian Rhapsody opposed to the near dozen on a song that sounds like a carbon copy of a carbon copy of a carbon copy just with some slight differences.

Probably Spotify doesn't list co-producers that's why it's shows only two of them.

Doesn't it? I can see all of the producers on the Spotify credits

Kim released a cover of Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill for Amazon Original Pride Month playlist "PROUD".

Sounds nice and it's a smart move.

Sounds like a cash grab, we got the original charting again we don't need to have some inferior version to be clogging up the airwaves. Besides Kim doesn't have the appeal power as many artists do.

You're not waking anyone up nor dropping truth bombs, you're just a hater, try to look at the negativity in all of your 88 posts, you're almost always picking up fights with anyone, hating on Max's career and hating on new music that's not industrial, rock or just music from the 80s.

You even said at some point that you would try to be more positive in the future, I guess the pills don't work for you.
Do yourself a favor and find another forum where you find like-minded people who aren't just sheep that consumes music from big corporations.

I hope this is something you can understand since your English is not very good as you said.

I would be more positive if music would start getting to be a little bit more creative or how it used to be back in the 70s 80s or even early 90s. Back then you had real artists that could play real instruments that had a mix it on analog tape opposed to just mixing it poorly and let brick wall compression do the rest to make it sound like a bunch of noise instead of having highs and lows that bring out emotion and dynamic range
from each of the instruments being played including the vocals. Call me a boomer but I can't hide my cynicism to how I see the rest of the world. Maybe it's because that we already perfected music in there's nothing more than just a steady decline to mediocrity. "We are all puppets in this world I'm just one that can see the strings."

I do not want to be labeled as a contrarian because of this comment but sorry some valid points here. Creativity has gone long ago (enthusiasm too), compared to the music during 90's. It can be heard in the majority of releases. People are starting their music careers for the wrong reasons and nobody is checking their talent before they are allowed to step in because of the affordable technology and info. I don't see this as a hate speech, just politely saying the truth. Hopefully, those good deeds will come back soon or later. Anyway I suppose there is not much room for that to happenk any time soon because of the reality we all live in. But there is certainly hope.

The problem is not being a contrarian or expressing their opinion.
The problem starts when both of you finish by saying "speaking the truth" as if your point of view is objective in any way whatsoever.
None of what you say it's objective, you may believe you are speaking the truth, but saying it over and over (in the case of McCartneyMartin) doesn't become "the truth".
Again, be free to say what you want, but don't pretend a positive reaction to what you say if you want to impose your beliefs to everyone else.

And just so you know, I disagree, music from the 90s is different than now, it's not lacking, better, worse, it's just different. Reasons to start a career are not right or wrong compared to the past, it's just different.
Technology is always changing the game, it has always been this way, but if you can't move with the times it's not our problem. The problem is that you got old and old people tend to reject change, that may be the reason why no one stays in the game forever, well, maybe except for Max.
I personally feel more engaged with music of today, every release that I post every Friday is what I'm engaged the most and the reason to keep looking for new music.
I may agree at some points like being lackluster at times or just miserably short, but condemning a whole industry and calling it "facts"? That's way too much.

I apologize for not mentioning that I am subjective of course. But I am a genuine music fan, enthusiastic and overall a positive person. Age has nothing to do with it, a good song is a good song. So no hate speech is involved. I perfectly understand your attitude and you as a fan may be right. It's only that I see all this from a slightly different, more analytic perspective so I love to think that I know a bit more about how all this evolved than the majority of ordinary fans that are consumers only (no pun intended).

As a person with such perspective I feel that majority of today music isn't created like Cheiron guys did during 90's (and SAW and many others before them) - with enthusiasm, passion and using own creativity. I think too many of them look for the Cheiron book of recipe trying to mimic their methods in order to get their results which is pathetic and literally impossible. How do I know? It's all over too many songs if you pay enough attention. Youtube is full of instructions and analyses of Max / Cheiron work where wannabe gurus 'instruct' others how to achieve this and that. This is really pathetic but we have two choices. To pretend everything is like it should be or to risk and say politely own opinion about that. I am in the second category because in life I don't believe in lies and fake things.

You may say that today's music is different and I would love to believe in this. Yet Max influence is everywhere, mostly resulting in sub-standard copies. So it is not as different as it should be, they need to get rid of that influence which was motivated mostly by the get-rich-quick thoughts. Let the music be again a thing of one's own talent, enthusiasm and creativity, not a recipe book of others. And yes, as much as I appreciate Max sorry but Max should retire for the sake of music and all those wannabes that are taking the wrong path. This is not hate speech but the freedom of expressing one's opinion, thanks :) Have a nice day

Yeah, four songs got leaked which were Hit It from The Back, All She Wants (feat. Paris Hilton), Born Again, and Left My Body. Hit it from the Back was supposed to be released as the next single back in March 25th, but got delayed due to the controversy of Slut Pop. Things aren't looking good for Kim.

It looks like Kim’s debut album won’t be coming anytime soon. As she confirmed by replying to this tweet, Problématique has officially been scrapped, and it’s also revealed that there was a another album called “Candy” that was going to replace Problématique, that also got scrapped.

Confirmation Tweet: https://twitter.com/IamAlexRafael/status/1553395733826572290?

The tracklist for Candy was also shown in her documentary with Amazon called “The Lead Up with Kim Petras”, and as her official fanpage has confirmed, it looks like it was recorded around March of this year. The tracklist also included previous leaked songs such as “Dirty Dirty” and “Choker”.

Also, The title track “Problematique” got leaked today. Just a little snippet, but it’s cool to finally hear what it sounds like, even though it’s short. Also, this was the song where it rumored that she mocked the people who call her problematic for working Dr. Luke. Anyway, here’s the snippet. As far as the melody goes, it’s got a catchy groove and looks like it’s going to be a disco inspired bop.

Problematique snippet: https://twitter.com/bl00dypetras/status/1553850469256232960

Honestly, It’s such a shame. Based on the lead single “The Future Starts Now” and some of the leaks like All She Wants, Born Again, and the snippets of Revelations, the album would’ve been a smash if it had a better rollout.

Anyways, looking forward for the Sam Smith collab, can’t wait to see what she does next :).

Thanks for the post. Im just curious about your perspective on how do you think the rollout could be better, or how would you think it would have been done right?

Are we treating this as a debut album? What were the other 2/3/4 (depending on how you count her previous releases)?

I think it's very sad not seeing her blew up as she should, but after 5 years of this I think she's on borrowed time from her label, other artists for way less they would have been dropped already.

Am I reading this situation wrongly?

No you're not reading the situation wrongly. She was supposed to release her album this year, but it sadly got scrapped.  The two singles she previously released, Future Starts Now and Coconuts, were originally going to be apart of Problematique, and Hit it From the Back was going to be the third single until it got leaked. So, there goes that.

To add, even though she released "Clarity" and Turn Off The Light Vols. 1 & 2, she considered them both mixtapes and not albums.

The debut album should have led with All She Wants featuring Paris Hilton. After the pandemic, we didn't hear much from Kim and she lost a bit of the momentum she had built from 2017-2019. Two tours in one year, a rapidly growing fanbase. What she started was impressive and that's why she was even a candidate for a major label deal. However, what she needed in 2021 was a high-profile collab that could go viral to capture attention again. I have no idea why the label would sit on All She Wants other than scheduling conflicts on Paris's end and waiting for an ideal time for them both to promote it together. I mean they even showed up to the 2021 VMA red carpet together...

All She Wants out of all the songs we've heard is the most sure-fire, pure Kim Petras song. It's a continuation of I Don't Want It At All but heightened for the dance club. Campy, bratty, and pure pop. FSN was a great single but let's be real, it wasn't mediocre enough to take off. Republic put way too many expectations on that lead single to be the magic song to take off and when it didn't, they pulled all funding. That and the abysmal mismanagement with the huge gaps in release from the live performance and then the MV coming out in October. At that point, the era was off to a rocky start, or so we thought. Coconuts and HIFTB were performed with no release date in sight, until we got a pre-save link for Coconuts teasing its releasing a whole two months later. Coconuts should've always been a summer single, if not spring. Once we got a dance video as the official MV, the era was officially killed off. Then Slut Pop was born to "hold fans over" but in reality it served as her main release for 2022 and now she's back to the drawing board, recording brand new songs with different producers like Earwulf and Ian Kirkpatrick. No more Luke. I think the backlash from Slut Pop scared the label. It being produced solely by Luke and being very raunchy didn't sit well with Kesha stans and thus the #FreeKesha hashtag was spammed all over Kim's socials. Yet, the project was green lit by the label in the first place. They didn't have the foresight?

Anyway, in a perfect roll out I think Revelations and Born Again would've been great followup singles to All She Wants. Beyond single choice though, what's really wrong with Kim's career post-pandemic is the team around her. She hired fans to be her creative and managing team, also known as 'BunheadHQ.' They are recent college grads who do not have industry experience and seem just thrilled to be working with their all time fave artist, going to Coachella, and being in Hollywood. It's dragged Kim down exponentially. She doesn't have the same stylist or manager she did during Clarity. And now she's distanced herself from Aaron Joseph and apparently Luke. The major label signing threw everything off and here we are a full year after FSN was performed at Lollapalooza and she said her next single is coming "soon but not soon soon." WTF does that mean? Things remain vague which is infuriating as a fan.

I truly hope she can pull an Ava Max who was signed in 2016 and didn't get her breakthrough hit until 2018 with Sweet but Psycho. Fingers crossed. Kim is a huge talent, has an incredible voice, and stands out being a trans pop star. If given the right support, promotion, and plan she could really break out IMO.

So, a lot of stuff got leaked. Everything from her debut album, Problématique, from previous eras, everything. Well, not everything. Dirty Thoughts, Keep It, and Runway Walk didn't get leaked yet. Some are obvious, as Treat Me like a Hoe sounds like a outtake out of Slut Pop, but some of the album songs are pretty good. I'm conflicted with Your Turn to Cry, as it doesn't sound like a Dr. Luke production, like more of a EDM producer. Also, we finally got Sex Up the Fun, with both a solo version and with Azealia Banks's verse with it. You know, what's strange about this is that this was made back in 2019, but it literally has the exact same melody as Faded to where it sounds like an alternate demo. Anyway, here there are if you want to listen to them.

I certainly love all the songs from Problématique but I can't help thinking that it's somehow safe and the style has little variation, maybe I need to listen a few more times to tell otherwise.
Maybe it's too much Dr. Luke, and I never thought I would say this but I think she needs to diversify her team of writers and producers.

I think why it's feels so safe and that the style has little variation is for the era that she's channeling, which is early 2000s europop, particularly French House. Some of the songs kind of stay very true to that format. Songs like Modjo's "Lady" or Milky's "Just the Way You Are" don't have a ton of variation in their lyrics or production. It's all very simple, relying on a single hook for the majority of the track. So, while all the songs from Problématique are good, there isn't really a standout moment.

If I hear all these songs from an artist I would think:

1. The artist knows what she's doing, personality, lyric wise: it makes sense as a whole
2. Great songs, cohesive sound
3. No hit single in sight, give me more songs.

The french house revival is a great idea. The Slut Pop was a great idea as well.

Problematique is the clear standout.
Revelations, Confessions, Something About You and Born Again are cool too.

2 single releases is the max. If they hit the targets, then a third can be released etc. Good point to put coconuts out on spring or summer and not December

I think the label took a risk by making Kim Petras one of their top artists. The risk is that money is invested in promotion but targets are not reached. Albeit, all she needs is a song to hit #1. I don't believe in this sound she is putting out now as much as I believe in another sound. Though I must confess that I do not rule out that this sound she is putting out now will become the new trend, so they are making the right move (am I contradicting myself here? Yes I guess so). Once 3-4 singles have been released while being treated as an A artist and nothing happens, then she will never get the chance to be a A-artist again. At least, that's the pattern of the last 30 years by new artists releasing singles. In the book by John Seabrook The Hit Machine this pattern is also stipulated.

It took 4 years for Dua Lipa to release an album although she was "number one focus of Warner Music". And New Rules was the sixth solo single...
Luke was saying he'd rather go slow and have a natural growth of a fanbase and name recognition over a one hit wonder, because a one-hit-wonder is a dead end of a career.

We all agree she has star potential.

Is it helpful to her to work with Luke? And as far as I know, she still writes primarily with Aaron Joseph.
Plus: Doja Cat said she wouldn't work with Dr Luke again.

I said some years ago here in the forum that I think Luke has writing or producing credits on every Kemosabe release even if not involved.
Title: Re: Kim Petras - "The Future Starts Now," "Coconuts" new songs (Dr. Luke)
Post by: Snipes3000 on August 07, 2022, 09:41:17 PM
Luke has no writing credit on every kemosabe release. He has contracts with artists wherein it is agreed that he will be the producer of a certain amount of songs on the album. For example on kesha 6 songs per album. And what if his name is not there? They can fix that by giving him credit on a song to get to the agreed productions.

Dua Lipa's third single released on a major albel (Warner) was New Rules and it charted at 6 Billboard (on target). Therewith she has reached the target to be given more shots. The singles released before were released by an indie record label who's mere owner is Dua Lipa. After New rules came IDGAF (49 bb, kind of off target but ok let's give it another try) and then came don't start now (#2 on bb). Then she had Physical (not on target), Break my heart (on target, #13 bb), Hallucinating (not on target), Levitating (on target). Those are great numbers.

When you look at albums like I did above, you can often tell why certain artists fell or started releasing with B producers. Examples that come to mind quickly are Usher, Leona Lewis, Jordin Sparks, and the other member of that band harry styles was in. The latter had a number one i believe on his first album but messed up the second and that meant his azz. This business is merciless for the artists once they are off target, they will shut them down and close all their doors to great people. That's when they realise that those doors were opened because the labels are involved. No matter the status they had before, they are all replaceable. Great songwriters and producers aren't.

https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/doja-cat-dr-luke-name-say-so-1270855/

She says she doesn't think she needs to work with Dr. Luke again. "So High" led to Doja signing a record deal with Dr. Luke, who would later be accused by Kesha of drugging and raping her, leading many artists to speak out against him and refuse to work with him. (Dr. Luke has denied Kesha's allegations and sued her for defamation. Kesha dropped her lawsuit in 2016; Dr. Luke's lawsuit is ongoing.) With the release of Doja's hit "Say So," on which Dr. Luke is credited, Doja received criticism from some of her fans for working with him, which she has often refused to address. "I don't think I need to work with him again. I don't think I need to work with him in the future. I know that," she says. "I think it was definitely nice of me to work with him."

Doja also hinted that she believes Dr. Luke is unfairly credited for some of her songs. "There's shit that he's credited for, where I'm like, 'Hmm, I don't know, I don't know if you did anything on that,'" she says, though she declined to specify which ones. A few weeks later, she sent a follow-up statement denying that Dr. Luke had been unfairly credited on any of her songs, saying her previous comments had been borne out of "sensitivities in the past about certain people attributing my general success to the work of others — in particular, men." "The credits on my music are accurate, and I don't want to imply anything else," she said. ("As it is his daily work, his practice, as is the industry's, is to receive publishing when he creates songs," a representative for Dr. Luke told Rolling Stone in a statement.)

Being a huge fan of Dr Luke's work, I can't ignore he has a reputation...

Luke has a reputation, yes. But I also think that reputation gives lots of artists the go-ahead to embellish his deviance. For example, those statements by Doja Cat in that RS article.

The majority of her hits have been Luke-produced or co-penned. Say So was her breakthrough hit. So I find it more to be letting her fans know she doesn't like him while reaping the benefits of his music/production style.

One detail: Doja signed with Kemosabe/RCA in 2014. Her first release as Doja Cat through Kemosabe was Purrr! in August 2014.

The defamation case started on October 2014.

And well, if you're an unsigned act and get an offer, you don't think twice. And Doja is published by Prescription Songs, founded by Luke.

Sam Smith just posted a snippet of their collaboration with Kim Petras on TikTok. The instrumental is giving me little hints of SOPHIE, mostly with some of the drums. Also, It looks like it’s going to be released next month in September based on this article from The Sun.

Article: https://www.thesun.ie/tvandshowbiz/bizarre/9267891/sean-paul-new-hobby-rapping/

QuoteAFTER giving us a stripped-back, self-love anthem for a comeback single Love Me More, I can reveal Sam Smith’s next track is far more racy. Sam has teamed up with Kim Petras on the upbeat song about a naughty hubby going to the “body shop”.

Fill in the gaps yourself.

While it’s got nothing on Kim’s infamous EP Slut Pop, which dropped in February, it’s easily one of Sam’s cheekiest tracks. Sam sings: “Mummy don’t know Daddy’s getting hot at the body shop, doing something unholy. He’s sat back while she’s dropping in, she be popping in, yeah she put it down slowly.”

The track is set to be released next month, with a video being shot in the next few weeks. A source said: “Sam and Kim have been friends for a while and are big supporters of each other’s music.

“Working together just made sense. As soon as they hit the studio the song just came alive. It’s upbeat and fun.”

Anyway, Here it is.

Edit: Used the wrong pronouns for Sam. My apologies.

Ilya reposted sam's story on instagram, doesn't sound like him but considering he's collaborated with Sam in the past it's possible.

Those eyes emoji lead me to believe he def had a hand in this song. maybe he co-produced. if that's the case I'm expecting some great melodies

Kim posted another snippet, this time of a different song. It's called "Official Girl" and it's from her other scrapped album "Candy". Sounds good, but it also sounds different, as it doesn't sound like a Luke production. I also find it strange that she's previewing a song from a scrapped album, when she has a new single with Sam Smith on the way. Anyway, Here it is.

Crazy to think it's been almost 10 months since her last official single, Coconuts

Kids don't listen to radio anymore. That's for boomers.
Only streaming services. Even my dad listen has his playlists haha

I never imagined it would blow so much. At October 6th, the official video has 7.2m views, only 6 days after being released and 13 days with the song officially available.

Kids do listen to radio, but in a different way though. Think about shopping in a mall, sitting in a bar, the radio is still often played in places where they do the regular things in life. So, radio still influences the taste of kids, albeit in a much less influental way than in the era pre streaming.

I think reading numbers from YouTube and Spotify is naive in some way, we know that YouTube is in its downfall from a few years ago, we can see that because music videos used to have 10 million views a day and now that's only reserved for Indian and kpop debuts. Spotify grew a lot, but it didn't replace YouTube's success.
TikTok and reels are the real deal here, that's where hit songs are headed.

Experts who decide what the hits are among the masses agree that TikTok and Reels are the way to go. They are slighlty concerned that the superstar is fading to the background, because songs get popular while you are watching some person's video using a song of the superstar. And we don't get to see who the person behind the song is.

Youtube is also victim of bot views and thus the numbers are not always reliable. Take a look at kworb.net. It's a nice source of a bunch of databases collected in one place. You can use it to measure how popular a song actually is in specific regions.

It would be career suicide to release a song like that especially with a religious figure as the title. I don't know who to point the finger for who came up with it.. a better title would have been "if I was a rockstar".

Kim Petras just released a teaser of her next single on TikTok and it looks like it?s going to sample Better Off Alone by Alice Deejay. It?s also rumored to be featuring Ava Max and to be titled ?Alone? so hold that with a grain with a salt

https://www.tiktok.com/@kimpetras/video/7208677508588342571

On top of that, She went on Instagram Live and preview a ton of new songs that will be on her upcoming album.

Castle in the Sky: https://twitter.com/kimpetrasupdate/status/1634253305328160768
A Thousand Pieces (German Version): https://twitter.com/kimpetrasupdate/status/1634252954621321225
Try Again: https://twitter.com/kimpetrasupdate/status/1634253109235949581
Claws: https://twitter.com/kimpetrasupdate/status/1634252830348304384

Out of all the four previews, the one that I like the most is Castle in the Sky as it?s a sound from Kim that we?ve never heard from her before. I?ve never heard of Bl?mchen and Scooter but I might check them out after listening to the Kim track. It Looks like A Thousand Pieces has a sample which is Tusind Stykker by Anne Linnet, who?s a Danish singer.

I wonder why nostalgia is 2022-2023 theme for EDM songs, it also seems to be very popular seeing David Guetta's success with I'm Good (Blue)

What is up with David Guetta lately.
He is releasing cover song after cover song after cover song after cover song.

His songs used to be so good. Now it's just old stuff rehashed.

Why?? I don't understand it. There are hundreds of great songwriters out there. Why are they using old songs?
