It's such a strange enigma listening - these now as there is a bit of retro sound , in synth and pop -here and there- (or everywhere), from time to time ,
but if someone would go 'this far' in 2017!? - Would it work?  or be just horrible? Kind of wondering: They did it back then , why not now?
most certainly it would have an effect. So I've been wondering what such songs as these would cost to produce today (And what kind of production budgets these had back then) if wanted to do totally the retro-thing? With all of it's cheesiness.

Would it really be (alot) cheaper now?  as you can spot production tools of those days -now- with very low prices and even cheaper in software form -
or would you still have to pay the "full route?"

does anyone here have a clue?

Btw: I think she is incredible in these songs and videos - like really fun! 'Get back in time' , literally.

What do you people think about Kylie M?

I think it's the contrary , it's not easy to do a really whopping hit song in a 'dance-formula'. (Such music might give such impression)
as "doing a hit song" alone wouldn't be challenge enough ( =just a very good song with other working variables in a right angle), but specially as it is a limited form (on a way as it mostly has to follow certain values ) One could speculate that it is more challenging to accomplish things then, naturally depending who you are..

But the key idea of observing here is that originally they might have just picked a dance format format (for Budget reasons) - and still made it thru.
(there's no guarantees I suppose ,and thing like that could totally sank as well ) Just like 'swedish industry' pumped out dance hits back in the 90's that sold extremely well - considering the size of the budgets. So then there is at least two 'limiting' factors , the budget and the format, and the team still have to achieve "quality enough" (rather uninspiring description from artistic or creative perspective, but there it is) , I find that fascinating.

Bruno Mars is still trying with the retro formula and it's doing pretty well, I'm kinda annoyed by now but the people seem to like it anyways.
It's clear that now it's in its downs rather than the ups, like what Meghan did with the doo-wop formula which didn't last too long until she met Ricky R and went straight pop.
Bringing old styles it's possible nowadays and still chart some hits, but it doesn't last long in general.
It wouldn't surprise me if any song with a cheiron-inspired melody would turn out as a hit.
Indie-pop can chart and be a hit (Lorde or Kiiara), Punk rock can chart and be a hit too (TOP). The exact opposite happens in the latin market: same lyrics, beat and chord progression is still charting like it never happened (see Shakira's comeback and any latin song from the Youtube chart besides trap).
