Yeah, I should have put this on the forum too. I was very surprised and very disappointed. I can't imagine why she would not want to work with Max & Luke? To me, her success with the album Breakaway was almost totally due to Since U Been Gone and Behind These Hazel Eyes. The other singles were only semi-hits and Since U Been Gone is still the single they play on the radio today.
Definitely her loss!
Has everyone heard her new single Never Again? I've heard it once, it's okay, I possibly won't be rushing out to buy her new album.
Exactly my thoughts.
The song is ok, and gets better with a few listens but it is nothing like "SUBG" or "Breakaway", which you would need to promote the album worldwide.
These two songs have made her big and a world star.
I can't think of a reason why she wouldn't come back to work with Max, Luke and I am sure there is no song with the "Breakaway" team either.
Of course it's early to judge but I just can't imagine of someone who could write such a fabulous anthem like "SUBG".

I think only the die-hard Kelly fans will buy Never Again, I can't imagine she'll get any new fans from this song. It will be very interesting to see how her new album does, I can't imagine it's going to do as well as Breakaway, though it's hard to know, some of the other songs could be good.

The song got an awful load of myspace plays too. Somehow people must enjoy it.
The video is quite nice, but the song just grew a bit. But compared to "Breakaway", "Gone" and "Since u been gone" it's really not competing. :?

"Never Again" is decidedly average. Reminds me of the mediocre stuff (with the exception of "Low") she was releasing before Max blessed her with his genius.

I think I read in Blender ages ago Dr Luke saying that Max had Pink in mind for SUBG as Max didn't watch American Idol and didn't even know who Kelly Clarkson was and it was the record company who recommended Kelly.
In fact it was Clive Davis who heard the song and thought it would be perfect for Kelly.

Haha... do some research and see how "Since U been gone" charted... just a hint, it was NOT even in the Top40. The song grew on people after several MONTHS. So I find it kinda disrespectful saying that Kelly is nothing without Max (after all the song charted at #8, and still has the chance to climb again), or that you dont like the song, after listening to it just once. I am pretty sure that you need more than one listen for most Max songs before you really get into them. And dont forget, if you listen to a song with a negative attitude (eg, "fuck you kelly, you didnt wrote with max, so lets listen to your new single"), it's really no wonder that you end up hating it. Your brain has no chance at all to form an objective opinion about the song.
And btw, ever thought about the fact that Kelly wanted to go into a different direction with this album, and use it as an opportunity to grow, both music- and artistically? If she just keeps on doing the same thing over and over again there will be ZERO growth. And its not like she just refused to work with Max. She didnt work with ANY "hit songwriter" on this record. What I just fear is that we get lots of songs without the certain "something".
Writing a song is not too difficult and with her musicians I am sure she can do some decent stuff but I am not sure if there will be these worldwide hits and especially radio-hits that made her so popular.

NOBODY. Not Max, not Kara, not John, or some Record Executive. Art is the most subjective thing ever. Nobody can predict what will become a hit. Everybody told James Blunt that he sucked and needed to co-wrote with other people. All the sudden Linda Perry comes along, signs him, and he goes on to have a massive hit with "You're beautiful".
Just do some research on John Shanks and Kara's credits. Most of them were NOT hits. Same with Max. Sure, he had massive success with BSB, Britney and other artists.. but a lot of stuff he wrote also werent hits. Eg, the Veronicas failed terribly in the states, and anywhere apart from Australia/New Zealand. Same with Ashley Parker Angel. I think he just sold around 150k records.

The single is SUPPOSED to be different. What YOU think doesnt matter.. Kelly's record will play a BIG role at the next Grammy's. Mark my words on this.
The Grammy's are all about credibility. Thats why Norah Jones walked away with 8 of them for her debut album, and Avril Lavigne hasnt won any yet. If Kelly has any decent success with this album she'll get a lot of Grammy nominees.

That's not entirely true. Of course one doesn't know what will be or won't be a hit while composing it.

the song may be a hit in america, but i doubt she will be a hit in the rest of the world. never again isn't good enough, and i fear the rest of the album aint better either.
