Title: Is Wolf Cousins a Max thing?

In 2013, the production entity Wolf Cousins was created in Stockholm, with songs such as "First Love" by Jennifer Lopez and "Problem" by Ariana Grande being recorded in the Wolf Cousins Studios.

Yes, it's a Max/Shellback initiative. Even the name. Both Wolf cousins and Shellback are characters from a Swedish comic called "Bamse".

Thanks, good info! Did some research, apparently Tove Lo is part of this.

Hello guys, it's my first post on this board.

Do you know if Wolf Cousins is somehow associated with Warner/Chappell Scandinavia? The writers, Tove Lo, Ilya, Ali Payami, The Struts are all signed to Warner.

As far as I've heard after asking around, they are.

Did you hear anything more about that? MXM's publishing is administrated by Kobalt so there's a conflict of interest. I read somewhere that Joe Janiak ( the guy wrote a single for Ellie Goulding) was also a part of a team and he's not at Warner's.

I was told that they are signed as producers. I know Tove Lo and Ilya (and I think Ali Payami too) are definitely on Warner/Chap publishing (from what I was told). As for why its Warner/Chap, there's an A&R there who is pretty huge in both the Swedish and US industry. I think he is probably friendly with Max and Shellback and that's how the talent was discovered and deals formed. Also, if you read the credits on 1989 and V, it seems like Wolf Cousins publishing might be in fact admin'ed by Warner/Chap. So Wolf Cousins might be part of MXM but also Warner/Chap in different capacities. Anyway, that's my best guess based on all the info I have heard/read. Maybe someone else has better info but that's all I know so far. If anyone knows more, please chime in!

PS - MXM is not only a publishing company, it's also a production company. It's like the whole tangled web! Haha

I think he's trying this coaching stuff -the same thing Denniz did with him- with new raw talent.
And I think it's great.

Yes she is. All songs from the Queen of the clouds are credit to Wolf Cousins. And there's also that instagram picture:

No not all of them. Timebomb and This Time Around. But at the same time, Tove IS a part of Wolf Cousins and has writing cred on all songs so to some extent it's true.

All of them?

Sorry, I assumed that. I'm guilty of only checking out the songs that I liked the most.

My apologies. Not my intention. :P English is not my first language and sometimes my sentences and ideas do not translate well.

Best regards!  :D

haha I have a feeling it was less of communication error and more of a missing piece of information.  I did one of the songs on that record.

to be honest though, I was hoping it was an intentional comeback.  I was marveling at its perfect execution :)

Excellent work, Kyle. Kudos! Did you record and/or produce Tove's vocals?

Wow. Lesson learned. You have no idea how I feel now.  :(

I'm a big fan of Queen of clouds.

Congrats!

Is good to have "insiders" in the industry as well, Kyle.

Congratulations on your placement, is your first one?

I wanted to say something too: I also think this forum is really special and I love it.
You guys do a great job!

As you guys know, Lorde A&R'd -or curated, like press refers to it- the new Hunger Games Soundtrack... and there's a XOV song.
A couple months ago, someone posted his involvement with Max. I wonder, does he have something with this Wolf Cousins thing?
I'm not really sure what it is exactly: a publisher, a record label, a "talent house", a development stuff?

I've never been a true serious fan of the artist until this one
I think Tove Lo is one of the most interesting pop artists of the last five years or so. There's something special about this act. It's combination of great, catchy (but classy) songs, her personality, mystery, genuine lyrics and... she's cute obviously. Congratulations Kyle, because this is big.

I'm joining to j.fco.morales's question, could you please write something about how this Wolf Cousins thing works?

Hi Kyle, it'd awesome if you could share some stories, techniques or tips about working with Tove Lo :D

Did you used a SM7B on Tove's voice? Which Preamp? What DAW do you prefer? Do you have a favourite brand of virtual synths or do you prefer the real thing?

Best regards! :D

Robert Möllard is not Wolf Cousins. He is not even a musician. But yeah, Ludvig Söderberg, Jakob Jerlström, Mattman & Robin, Ilya, Ali Payami, Oscar Holter (this is unclear though as he seems to be signed to Capitol nowadays?), Tove Lo. Don't think Oscar OzGo Görres is officially a part of Wolf Cousins, even if he's been working with Ilya quite a lot. Julius is not Wolf Cousins either. He works for Warner, Shellbacks old friend. He's definitely involved though!

I'm a little confused at this point, so...  Ludvig Söderberg and Jakob Jerlström are The Struts, then there's Mattman & Robin, Ilya, Ali, Tove Lo and that's all? I've heard that Laleh recently worked there, could she be another member now or in the near future? Her work with Ellie and Demi is marvelous, she has nice production skills.
I'm really sorry if I'm confusing it all, I'm a noob here.

Wolf Cousins: Ali Payami, Ilya, Mattman & Robin, The Struts, Tove Lo, Oscar Holter, Oscar Görres. In the video above, Tove also mentions Robert Möllard and sister Madelen as the weird "painters".
I don't think Laleh is or will become a part of the cousins. She's probably more like a Peter Svensson/Rickard Göransson/Johan Carlsson/Peter Carlsson type figure who also regularly work with the Max crew :)

Yes, you're right, I misread the latest Max interview on Storytelling where they mentioned the Wolf Cousins and then they mentioned Peter, Alexander and Laleh. It really got me thinking this part of the interview:
"Peter Svensson from The Cardigans and Alexander Kronlund also belong to the group of songwriters working close to Martin. Likewise, Laleh has recently joined the Swedish songwriting crew."
Apparently it wasn't about the Wolf Cousins but Swedish songwriting in general.

Do you know if there are any non-Swedes in Wolf Cousins team?
Title: Re: Is Wolf Cousins a Max thing?

There are only swedes. Plenty of non swedes among their frequent close collaborators though, Savan, Justin Tranter/Julia Michaels etc.

Hey there, I'm kinda new to this kinda sites but I think I can help you out a little bit. I've been to Stockholm quite recently and there's the Abba Museum/Swedish Music Hall of Fame where you get some insights to the world of Pop, important songwriteres, producers etc..
I've taken a pic there which might give you guys some good explanation about Wolf Cousins. Is there a possibility to upload it somehow on here?

I love it, sounds like Tove Lo.
