New single by Carly Rae Jepsen

Pure pop. Hopefully we get a few Max songs on her next album.
MASSIVE.
That immediate DRUG EFFECT.
Who wrote/produced this?
Sounds a bit like Ariel Rechtshaid new pop songs.
Found some infos here

QuoteI Really Like You" was written by Jacob Kasher and Peter Svensson of The Cardigans. It's and unpretentious pure pop gem from start to finish. Instant radio hit and a really, really, really perfect comeback. Catchy, easy-listening and fresh.
Amazing instant
Sounds like it could be an Oliver production. Gives me Bonnie McKee vibes

Jacob Kasher and Peter Svensson.
Sounds like it could have been a song pitched for the Taylor 1989 album. It gives me that kinda vibes. Anyway its an amazing tune.
one-hit wonder, don't care how hard she tries, some things are just impossible to change. I like the song, though
She already has two hits though.
And the video for this has Tom Hanks and Justin Bieber in it. She's coming for the charts.
Thank you for the information, guys.
It's a grower, for sure.
Sounds really like hit.
Agree with her manager
QuoteI told her that she couldn't come out with anything unless it was on the level of "Call Me Maybe." And, now we have a new one that is on that level
Was MXM involved in the production?
It's out in the US.

Yacoub and Max confirmed for the album!!
The global pop sensation has been hard at work with such collaborators as Rami Yacoub (One Direction, Nicki Minaj), Dev Hynes (Blood Orange), Jack Antonoff (fun., Taylor Swift), Ariel Rechtshaid (Charli XCX, Haim), Tegan and Sara, Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij, Greg Kurstin (Sia) and 2015 Grammy winning Producer of the Year Max Martin, writing and recording the songs that will appear on the follow-up to her U.S. debut album Kiss, which featured her blockbuster break-out hit "Call Me Maybe."

Great news!
Will be a superb pop album for sure.
Moved to "New songs" section.
Now I have high expectations about this record.
She's a great topliner BTW!
So Max had nothing to do with it?

Nope, but Peter Svensson has been linked to Max a lot lately.
lol wow this song is a joke, it might be as stupid as "Its Friday"

Amazing vocals.
I love this song, so catchy! great news that Max and Rami are on her new album.
This may be the catchiest song of this year so far.

Amazing video and idea. :) Risky but it works. The song is so catchy. Congrats to the writers. Bring on the album.
With all the hype, turned out to be another flop for Carly Rae.
And I think it's a really really really good song.

And I think it's a really really really good song.
It is. I think when you have a record that is as monumental as "Call Me Maybe" it's really, really, really, really tough to ever live up that again.
If she can't make it again with a song like that and Tom Hanks dancing in a video, the future is not bright for her. That must be an awful situation for her and her team, because this song deserves to be noticed.

I agree with this. It doesn't look very good for her.
I think the video wasn't a good idea. I could imagine Carly Rae Jepsen fans being disappointed with it while Tom Hanks fans aren't into this type of music.
Actually, at first I wasn't sure about Call Me Maybe being a hit, but after the video I kinda start to like it... and it took like 6 or more months to get it big.
It could be a sleeper hit in the best scenario...
This whole situation with Carly is a perfect example of how hard it is to do what Katy, Taylor and Rihanna have done for so many years. It's just not easy to have multiple big songs. Another thing is that all those artists didn't start their careers with their biggest songs, they came later (I think only Katy's debut was a monster #1 smash). In Carly's case, her first song was so, so big that it's hard to ever live up to that again, especially if you don't have the songs to follow it. Carly just didn't have the songs to follow up until now, and I think it's too late.
She performs a new song on SNL. Bring on the Max song.

Classic/80s-inspired pop. So chill and lush. This sound works for her magically
Wow, is she for real?
I really don't like this new song.
I also enjoyed the Dev Hynes collabo.
It's not top 40 music, for sure.
One other new song, the Robynesque Your Type, was penned with Swedish legends Rami Yacoub and Carl Falk in one debauched night in Stockholm. "That was written at four in the morning when I was losing my mind," she says. What? During a drug-fuelled out-of-body experience? "They got me hooked for a week on those little fake cigarettes that taste of strawberries. You can hear it in my voice, I sound all gritty. It's because I was vaping for a week."

Carly Rae Jepsen names Max while being interviewed by Sam Lansky in Times magazine: http://time.com/4002571/carly-rae-jepsen-emotion-new-album/
One of my favorite songs on the album actually is a bonus track—"I Didn't Just Come Here to Dance." Where did that song come from?
I liked the idea of going out with my girlfriends at that time, and they were like, "I just came here to dance." You see them in their skimpy-friend outfits, and they spend forever on their hair—I just felt like calling them out and being like, "No, you didn't! And that's fine! But have the balls to f—ing say it!" I was like, "Somebody needs to be brave and say, 'I did not just come here to dance, if you know what I mean.'" When I went to Sweden to meet Max Martin for the first time, I had one intention, and it was to show him this [song]. We got through "Tonight I'm Getting Over You," and it was the end of our session—we got done at maybe midnight, one o'clock, and he has a daughter so it's not like he wanted to go until five a.m. I was like, "OK—I never thought I'd meet you, I grew up idolizing your writing, and even if it's just to have you listen to this one little jingle of a line—this is what I want to show you. I think it's good." I showed it to him, and he was like, "It is good." And he stayed for an extra two hours with me, and we jammed out together.
You got Max Martin to stay up for you!
I was walking home on a cloud. I called my parents and woke them up.
Oh that is interesting.
But obviously Max did not change anything essential on that song, he did not get a credit for it.
The album has eventually been released in the US. Doing OK on iTunes.
The only Cheiron input is Rami on Your Type.

I got to hang out with her last night! She's super sweet. When I mentioned what's Max Martin like, her eyes lit up and she basically said "he's incredible!"
Max is actually thanked in the liner notes of the album (even though he's not listed anywhere) and there's so many Wolf Cousin and MXM publishing credits on each song. What a great album, one of the best pop albums in a long time.
I heard her perform First Time, too. It's awesome.

Tell us more!
A fun little thing I learned tonight:
I was talking to a guy I was bartending with tonight (at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction) and he happened to mention how he was excited to play at the Panorama festival. He told me he plays sax in Blood Orange. He told me about touring and how Dev doesn't like touring too much. Then I mention how I like his work with Carly and he said that the song "All That" was originally offered to Britney Spears. Cool I thought! I don't know if she ever recorded it but she obviously passed on it (or her team). It's funny because the verses have a similar melody to Britney's "Sometimes," so I'm sure Dev was inspired by it and then to pitch it to Britney... I just thought that was really cool. Imagine Britney on that track. Honestly would be a cool vibe for her to try out - totally left field for her.
Love learning about stuff like this- and so randomly. The guy, Jason, just happened to be best friends with Dev's bass player or something, then hit it off with Dev himself.

I really started [the new album] from a disco-inspired place. Like Donna Summer: dreamy, sexy disco. I think I have about 17 songs that were started [on tour], just as little demos, that I [then brought] to Sweden. I went to Sweden for two and a half weeks, and I worked with a lot of the people I worked with on the last album, Mattman and Robin, and I had sessions with Karl [Johan Schuster] and Rami [Yacoub]. When we were in Sweden, we probably had seven or eight completely new ideas. That's the fun right now: to just write and play, and listen back, and see what's starting to feel right. It's still so new.
wow her next album is gonna go even harder than EMOTION, it's gonna bop
Well, I'm excited of where she could go after EMOTION, because it was one of the best I've heard last year. And even Mattman & Robin have changed throughout last year, at least I think that the sound will be different.

It could be anyone.
Shellback's name is Karl Johan Schuster, though Taylor Swift calls him "Johan".
And also, it could be Carl Falk, since they both worked together before.
The thing is: could it be Rami and Shellback?
But It did happen, with One Direction, don't you remember Heart Attack? It was a rip-off of 22 by TS, it has the Shellback's signature. Kiss You was written by Shellback too.
The thing is, could it be Rami and Shellback without Carl's signature sound? I really don't know how Rami shifts the sound nowadays because everything I listen from him is much like Carl and less like Rami.

No it can't. Think about it, Carl and Rami is a team, and nobody calls Shellback Karl. It's Johan. Carly said "Carl and Rami" and The interviewer probably thought she meant shellback since he wrote together with Mattman and Robin for the last album. And also thought "nobody in sweden spells Karl with a C. It's Carl Falk, nobody else. There have even been pictures from the studio!
