Just had a listen to several tracks, and you've got some awesome creativity going on. Some really nice dark Timbaland vibe stuff, and the couple of dance tracks I liked too. I think if you could expand on it a bit and really build it up in places, "Danger" could have genuinely huge potential for an r&b/rap artist. Actually I think most tracks had brilliant parts, just that some needed to be changed up a bit so they don't get too samey all the way through. Definitely keep it up! :)

That's a whole lotta kick drum! ;D I quite like it for all it's old school magic... do you have a melody for it yet? Would be great with some strong, thick Backstreet style harmonies.

Actually only two kick drums but yeah, it's fat! :) thank you!! :) Until now I'm not writing lyrics or thinking of vocal melodies. But this will come :)
Yes, the instrumental already sounds bit like 1999/2000 Backstreet Boys doesn't it?

hey B-Steady!

Good solid groundwork. Soooo tempting to write a melody for it! :-))

keep up to the good work and keep finetuning. Also add some variations in the 2nd verse or 2nd chorus. There must be a new element each time to add some new audio.

I really like both of the links you posted. Great potential in my opinion!
Title: Re: B Steady (producer)
Post by: Axel on March 11, 2013, 08:09:51 PM
one question though: For determined, are you aware that the chords in the chorus are the same as in "Love the way you lie" (a song I truly adore, the melody is pure bliss) by Eminem & Rihanna? I was whistling the melody of the song to your chorus and it fits right in. Maybe a slight variation could help a lot with one of these chords. Then again, Eminem & Rihanna certainly weren't the first to have this chord progression either. :)

Wow, thank you for that feedback!!! I really appreciate it ! :)

hi B Steady! (or Servus nach Augsburg for that matter (ich wohne in Basel).  :-)

I think your stuff is good from the ideas and concepts, even the chords are fine. I think the only area you need to work on (and I saw you've made huge progress since 2010 (I've gone through all of your tracks on Soundcloud)), is the modernity of your samples/VSTi's. Your mix is not up to par with what's out there either, but neither is mine, but that's an area that takes a long learning-curve and you're already making a lot of progress in that area as well. But I think it would take your tracks to a whole new level if you had one or two great sample-packs for drums and a nice VSTi. What are you currently using equipmentwise? If you manage to make your songs sound less "dated" at least from the selection of sounds, it would give your material a massive boost.

heck, maybe other users disagree with my view, but I just thought I'd share my opinion.

I'd agree with you on that. Great ideas, but some of the sounds do need some work. Take for one example, in "Better", the drums at 0.51 definitely need an update, they sound pretty dated and out of place. Everything in that pre-chorus also needs to be beefed up and not so dry sounding. There are a few areas like that, but overall I really like the level of creativity going on. :)

That part at 1.04 is my most hated element of current pop music haha, but you certainly pull it off like a pro here. I'm just not a fan of it, though I know it's hot at the moment! Again, on the point of sounds, you really need to tweak that rhythm piano/synth sound that we hear right from the beginning... it sounds good when you bring in the reverb, but otherwise it's just a bit weak.

I'd really love to hear you put all of your ideas into one big, finished track... whether instrumental or with vocals. Very promising stuff. :)

hi B Steady

The thing is... I think production-wise the song is great, the whole structure and overall build-up, is absolutely great. The only thing that lacks big-time in your song is the modern sound. The sounds are so extremely dated they almost sound like they were some midi-instruments. I think if you had some fat drums, bad-friend bass-instruments and floating pads then songs like this one here would be MASSIVE. So my advice would be to buy some really good libraries, which don't cost a lot at all. There are good ones that are not that expensive, even below 100$. And I think the overall feeling for your songs would benefit massively from that. Overall great song, but it sounds too dated. The drums lack a certain ooooooomph. :-)

Hope this feedback doesn't come across as too negative. :)

Cheers
Axel

Hi Axel, thank you very much for your feedback!
The instrumental is neither mixed nor mastered, also it got converted by iTunes as well as uploaded to soundcloud. That way some quality got lost and therefore "extremely dated" and "almost midi instruments" are exaggerated expressions in my opinion. Also, sometimes you don't know my intentions ;)
Again, thank you and no, it doesn't ;)

Germany had an amazing producer who sounded a lot like Cheiron guys  back in 2001, his name is Martin de Vries· and his music company called M.D.V. music, who did music for Samajona

"Wird Es Heute Passieren (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boNzZGBiorY)
"Warum (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKkgLPMzv6k)

a song is called "Hoer Mir Zu" on their debut album sounds exactly like What You See.

Wird es heute passieren = Tell Me, Tell Me...Baby
Hör mir zu = What U See (Is What U Get)

I mean these songs are copies! ;D Was he allowed to use Rami's sounds? Otherwise he must've been sued by Rami ...
Title: Re: B Steady (producer)
Post by: Feelgoodlies on May 29, 2013, 06:54:43 PM
I know, but he copied them so professionally. I mean I love it when a producer even when he copies he does it the right way, not the cheap way.

Rami didn't produce "What You See" and also I don't think he did "Tell Me, Tell Me" I guess he co-wrote it. It's the Cheiron sound I meant cause Rami wasn't unique either.
Title: Re: B Steady (producer)
Post by: B Steady on May 29, 2013, 07:47:45 PM
Yeah it sounds like he used the same sounds indeed.

See, that's the difference: you THINK, I KNOW ... Rami produced WUSIWUG with Per Magnusson and David Kreuger. TMTMB is even a Rami solo production.

Woah, that's a bit harsh isn't it?

I don't think (if I'm allowed to use that word) they're that great of a copy, the elements are there but they're nowhere near as polished. But they are quite calculated copies of Cheiron that's for sure. I also don't hear the WYSIWYG similarity, but TMTMB yes, not only the production but even the riff is almost identical.

I spend so much time with getting knowledge about production credits, especially Cheiron. I know the production credits to (almost) any Cheiron song and then there is a person who's saying that I'm wrong even though I've been right. A person who hasn't any clue of it while I've been spending so much time. That's annoying.

How am I supposed to point this out? Just listen to both choruses. That way you should get it.
Title: Re: B Steady (producer)
Post by: Joshua on May 31, 2013, 09:43:02 AM
You were talking about this "Hör mir zu" song, I thought you were talking about the two YouTube links specifically, hence why I couldn't hear any similarity, but turns out I was listening to "Warum" instead.

All I'm saying is reeeelaxxxx, no-one was accusing you of being wrong. People throw song credits around on here off the top of their head like there's no tomorrow. If Feelgoodies knew you were the expert I'm sure she wouldn't have thought otherwise.
Title: Re: B Steady (producer)
Post by: Feelgoodlies on May 31, 2013, 02:25:03 PM
Joshua, this producer's songs are mostly, as u said, calculated copies of cheiron but not exactly the same.

B Steady, why don't you just learn from the cheiron songs instead of memorizing their credits cause unfortunately your "productions" sound so basic if not less than that.

okay, i love this. I want to write lyrics to this so fricken badly. I was kinda singing some as I listened to it. Do you have any in mind?

Def. a female vocalist is needed.

1:36-1:38 is awesome.

Maybe there should be a pause or like a "winding down" effect (like at 2:10) before the key change at 2:00

Edit: Just had a couple of more listens. Really love it. Did I say that yet?

Extremely good!! Kept me really interested from start to finish.....mixture of cinematic sections (intro and other spots) and highly funky!! It's very full and satisfying to the ears...guitar comes in on right headphone later on, etc.  Congrats!! :-)

Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it that much :)

But I can guarantee that there's never a guitar only on the right side :P

                                         ^     ^     ^

Well there's one that caught my EAR on the right side later on on the track and it grooved me, so you must be doing something right! :-)

I guess that's the second pre chorus where the guitar becomes clearer and clearer

You also said it sounds very full. I'm glad you noticed that since this project has around 190 tracks.

wow, NOW we're talking, Benny. This is by far the best stuff I heard from you. This is big. I absolutely love it. I have a tiny question though: When you say you produced, arranged and mixed the song, did you also compose it? I mean, the chords, the guitar, the bassline.. who wrote all this? You as well? If you did, then congratulations, because this is really really awesome.

wow, thank you man :)

yes, I also composed it except for the guitar solo part. those are real guitars and they are played by a friend. I just told him how I imagine the guitars but the exact chords/melodies are his ideas (he's a guitar teacher btw :P ). but all the other parts are composed by myself

then you made some real quantum leaps between now and your old tracks. Massive improvement! (*stands up and applauds*). Keep it up!

Just curious: What is that last part about with the deep "woooooaaaaaa"-type of thing?

Originally I changed the instrumental already after 50 seconds with this part just to make it special. But then it turned out to become a song so I had to change the whole arrangement however I didn't want to reject this part because it took me some time to create it. But I'll shorten it by fading it out because it's too long.

Thank you very much :)

Never keep a part only because you invested a lot of time into it.

I think it should be a different song.

Yeah exactly. Took me some time to realize that. But meanwhile I know it's actually senseless, that's why I'll shorten it :)

Haven't thought about that, but yeah, at least chord-/melody-wise it could be in a movie!
