Title: Shellback and His Tip For Songwriters
Post by: Voodoo on December 27, 2013, 08:11:16 PM
Hey Guys sorry for double posting (the last one was a translation request on Shellback interview video) but these are two seperate topics.
In an interview I dug up, Shellback is quoted as saying this:

"Another tip is to make a production that is NOT obvious to the melody, to make it interesting. For example, if one has a happy tune maybe I should do a pretty dark and dirty track - or if you have a country song, maybe you should not take up the banjo and fiddle."

Can someone elaborate on this? I mean... I feel like I "kinda" get it. But kinda don't.

Also, can someone give some examples of Shellbacks work that is like this?

Thanks guys, just trying to understand what he means by this.

Contrast and moving out of the "comfort/obvious zone", that philosophy works like a dream
