Title: What is the difference between in house and collaborator?
Post by: Neal Sabel on April 25, 2017, 01:10:21 AM
Hi Guys,

I've always wondered what the difference between working for a studio is and collaborating with a studio/producer. For example, if you worked for a studio like Maratone or The Location what does that entail? Is it like 14 hours a day and you are on a salary.  If so, how does collaborating take effect in the same regard.  Is that more just like you plan a song together at some time and then spend a session or two completing the song and then you might work together again when the time is right or another song project is on the cards. Which is better and under what circumstances would both exist? Is it entirely up to the producer's discretion whether he or she is looking to recruit an in-house producer or simply wanting to work with someone, collaboratively.  Your thoughts please?

Neal.
