we used to have everything!
the best for me was the heavy use of synths and maniacal focus on melody/catchiness

do you think we're gonna have them back?
Are you kidding that was one of the worst periods for pop music ever. Everyone knows that pop music hit it's peak during the 80s and it's all been downhill from there. You can fake auto-tune and song doctors for the decline.
Is catchiness an equivalent of a pop-music?
There are many famous melodies that are not catchy. Are TikTok's verses catchy?
Many pop music lovers hate when a melody stucks in their heads.
Doesn't that apply to all music? Back to the 80s again doesn't Billie Jean chorus stick with a person more comfortably than some mathematical formula that tricks the brain into really liking it like with Kesha for example.
I really don't see the appeal of her either than just being a trashier Lady Gaga rip off, "I brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack" it's probably the worst lyric ever in the genre.
Compare a Paul McCartney song to a Katy Perry song and see which one sounds easier on the ears.

The early 2010 years are definitely far better than the stuff we have today
