Westhaven, another question,

do you know another site like http://www.bmi.com or http://www.ascap.com where you can look for listed songs by songwriters?

Re: Location: Not sure how/where they work now.. I don't know any of the "new" people.. even Jake didn't work there when I was there. :)

I know Andreas & Kristian live in LA and work mostly there.

I know Kristian really loves flight simulators. And the whole Cheiron crew used to play a computer flying game in the evenings, on their studio macs over the net w o r k. And talk to eachother over the intercom at the same time, like "I got you Kristian! *tatatatatat*" flying around and shooting at eachother :)

Another fun thing: Jeanette Söderholm worked in the reception at Cheiron. She was the one answering the phones. Any time they needed backing vocals she'd just run down the stairs and sing :)
    :D
What a fabulous anecdote!
And I liked it..

I don't think the company is dissolved, but they have moved out of the "location". ;)

the old site (the site for the Location Studios etc) was closed, and this site is only about the publishing company. Still the same address though.. I dunno, some companies are really slow when updating websites..

I'll see if I can find out more.

That's sad that it was sold. I thought they would stay there and continue working from that place. Oh well.

By the way, did you ever meet Nana Hedin, Jeanette Olsson or any of the other session singers who would come by Cheiron to record?

Yes, I've met Jeanette Olsson and Jeanette Söderholm. Also Douglas Carr & Anders Bagge who worked at Cheiron in the beginning.

Oh Andreas Bagge is brilliant, I love his "Cover on my heart" by Guy Sebastian and many more songs by him.

And of course Jeanette Olsson is a favourite background singer!

Great you met all of them.
Did you also meet Esbjörn? The guitar player?

Yes him too :) I had the chance to watch him play those typical acoustic guitar "ringa-racka" rhythms on a track. He was awesome, nailed it perfectly on the first take. I admit it's not very technically advanced to play these rhythms, but he really played those simple things so GOOD. And over the years his guitars became a trademark sound of the BSB etc.

Oh great.

I think there is a reason they booked him so many times and is on every track.

I guess he also loves the songs he plays on, it's flawless.

I guess it's nice to have the same team when recording, you just understand yourself without having to talk too much.
And I liked it..

I'm not reading through all of this, because I don't feel like it, but I have a list of the equipment they used for all 3 of their rooms including their editing room. They also used Emagic which took me by surprise because if you know anything about Emagic you will know it's now Logic Pro X, Apple bought them. I think that's quite fascinating so there is a possibility they used patches from ES1 and ESP because allot of the patches in there sound similar to some early 2000's and 1990's pop music that they and other producers not related to Martin and Denniz worked on. One thing that they used quite a bit was the Juno 106 and Roland JV2080 which makes sense for 1996-2000.

I also feel like allot of the Cherion Sound was heavily influenced from New Jack Swing. I got word that allot of the stuff that the guys at Cherion used were mostly pre-sets from other synths, like the EMU Orbit and such, which I doubt is believed to be true but you never know?

Yes, the list was already posted here a few months ago by Tano87 I believe. Cheiron used lots of romplers and JV-1080 was the one Max and Rami used the most during their collaborations. New Jack Swing really came up during the rise of sampling technology. Some Cheiron drum beats are in New Jack Swing style, which was the trend back then.
Hi, I'm Luke and I'm sitting on my throne! Oh, and have you noticed that Denniz PoP songs are extremely hooky?

ChrizPoP

Hi guys! Thanks for your post in this forum. I have read almost every comments about the sound of the legendary Cheiron Studio. Thanks for sharing!:)

Here is something I produced with my Roland JV-2080 with effects and sounds from the Roland DANCE SR-JV80-06, and the famous Stringwheel from the original E-Mu Vintage Keys Plus with the new sound bank back in the time. I also use samples from the sample CD, Power FX - Downtown Beats.

Have a great time with the listening :) I will try to produce more like this beats :)
