Title: Synth emergency
Post by: j.fco.morales on November 15, 2013, 03:40:35 AM
Guys, I'm working on a remix for a new chilean indie band called Fármacos.

I'm working synth wise in the middle 8 with sounds, and I want to make these kind of bass synths like Cirkut or Zedd.
I'm not really sure how to apply the effect, like the bass is sliding and changes the tone, like using the glide option.

I put the quantization on 64 steps and wrote it with the mouse, to edit it and sounded near the sounds I wanted to make... maybe one of you guys knows how to get the sounds I want.

If you listen, it's something like the sounds in 0.19 and 0.29, for example.
There must be some vst or FX to get that sound but I don't know how to, so I'm asking for help!

The sounds is like the bass on the verses of Far Away From Home of will.i.am's Far Away From Home https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovKVdoxfqoM or Rihanna's You Da One, at 2.30 until 2.45, check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3HeLs8Yosw

Here's my stuff, it's not even mixed yet, I'm still working on it!

Hope you guys can help me out! :)
Thanks in advance!

For the bass, make a nice sounding bass preset using your favorite plugin and put some heavy distortion on it; I recommend Uhbik Runciter or Izotope's trash. Most plugins these days have distortion in them, but don't be afraid to insert a distortion plugin on top of that too. Then to make the pitch downs, use the pitch envelope on your DAW. Use the curve feature to make it sound like you want. :P

Edit: The distortion setting is key for your pitch down to sound crisp and clean.

I'll try the plugins you mentioned!
Thank you very much :D

Nice synths, those ones are very benny-blanco. You can hear em a lot in his EP with Spankrock (Bangers & Cash) and then in his first mainstream with Tik Tok if I recall properly.

I found a nice remake of Tik Tok with stock sounds in FL Studio here, http://www.beat-school.com/downloads/flp-files/tik-tok-remake/

It has something to do with pitch automation I belive, but better try downloading it and see it for yourself.
