Exciting news!
Adam is back and with the best producers in the world:

Thx so much for posting!!
Great news and super picture of Max.
I hope it will be rock with fantastic poppy melodies.
Must-read article!
Exciting! "If I Had You" and "Whataya Want From Me" are so good. The massive chorus of the former and that classic Shellback guitar tone in the latter still kills me.
Great news!!! Excited for this ;D

Amazing!
This guy is really talented, but lacks the charisma.
I hope he takes a new approach musically, going into a more appealing direction with his influences and interests.
To me, the pop thing was forced and definitely doesn't fit his style.
I'd go for a new easy listening rock kind of material for him, like... Bon Jovi or Def Leppard.
I can't believe no one has commented on the fact that Max is actually quoted! He RARELY does interviews.
True!
Also, we had this information before: remember when someone here said he met Adam in a club in STHLM and asked about working with Max?

Agreed, and a great picture of Max and his studio!
I'm wondering if part of the deal is that MXM has a share in the label/publishing? This deal is with Warner and it seems there's a connection on the publishing side lately with Warner/Chappel. Interesting to see how it turns out!

According the article it's going to be a little different than the stuff he did before. Can't wait to hear it. I've always been a fan of Adam's voice and his previous records with Max/Shellback are amazing. Where he lost me was that camp stuff he was talking about.
Exciting. They're gonna make gold together... I'm picturing something similar to what Max did with Carolina Liar.
Let us not forget the brilliance Adam created with Dr. Luke:

I'm sure people are trying. I know someone on this site tried to get an interview for us, or has been trying, and Max is just super busy. But it would be amazing to get a new interview with Max this year. I'd really like an interview or story like they have done on Luke a couple of times.
Do you guys remember when I mentioned that I met him in a club in Stockholm and asked him if he worked with Max? lololololol

Voodoo: Isn't this his LA studio?
I'd say that's a pretty good guess. It's not Maratone, it's not Wolf Cousins studio, so probably the studio Max has in his home in West LA.

I dont think its the LA studio, he was in Stockholm during that time working with him. Why would they be in LA with Max and later fly to Stockholm studio?
Maybe they started their sessions in STHML, because of the holidays -it was January, I guess- and then Max returned to LA and finished their work in the US.

You may be right, but what makes me believe that it may be LA is because it's clearly not the Maratone controlroom, and Maratone IS in Max's home. And the only other studio I can really think of where he might work is probably Wolf Cousins. But come to think of it, I know that at the time Adam was in Sweden, some other songwriters worked with him also (I know this from Sibel, a Swedish former Idol contestant whos boyfriend worked with him then). I don't know how Max's home studio in LA looks like, and they could have very well have done either pre or post production stuff in LA, at which time this photo could have been taken. If they recorded the majority of the stuff in Sweden, then the Serban mixes could have been delivered when Max was in LA etc.
Hehe, I know Sibel (from Melodifestivalen)
Who is the boyfriend?
How do you know Maratone studio is in Max home? Super interesting!
I came across this picture on Adam's instagram, and it says it was in LA. :)
By the way, is Sibel part of Max's team? I think she did backing vocals on Love Me Harder.

Well, that proves it :) In the "Marilyn Mansion" ehheheheh.
About Sibel, no definitely not a part of the team. I can't remember the boyfriend's (if they're together still) name, but Stockholm is not a very big city, so a lot of these people hang out together more or less. Sibel is friends with Shellback and the whole Wolf Cousins-team. So maybe Ali Pyjamas called her when they needed some background singing. It's the great thing about Stockholm in a way. "Can you be here in 20 minutes?" "Sure!".

There is also an article about Shellback somewhere that tells of Maratone's location. It's hard to find more concrete evidence for you on the internet, if you choose not to believe me...
Great info, Alexander. Any idea what the split is between work in LA and Sweden? I've noticed Max's presence in LA a lot more over the past couple of years.
Sorry, i don't know! I know that he was in Sweden a lot during this summer and now he's obviously in LA. I dont really know more than that unfortunately.
I found a bigger pic
(http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/sites/default/files/2015/01/adam_lambert_max_martin_h.jpg)
I'm sure this is his LA studio. Taylor wasn't in Sweden recording 1989 right, and on the wall hangs the guitars they hold in the polaroid pictures.
In a swedish article a few months ago it said Max had secretly moved to LA, and we know he bought that big house that he turned into a studio:
http://www.zillow.com/blog/report-max-martin-songwriter-for-katy-perry-backstreet-boys-buys-frank-sinatras-former-home-130474/
It's on Cinthia Street in Hollywood btw ;)
That's an interesting looking keyboard. Not an apple one, is it?
LA is the epicenter of entertainment nowadays, it used to be NY, but it has changed over the years.
Max moving to LA makes sense to expand his companies and keep himself at the top of his game.
:)
QuoteThank you all for the birthday love! Thrilled to announce the title of my upcoming album: THE ORIGINAL HIGH. The album is executive produced by Max Martin and Shellback, with 1st single out in April.
That's good!
Glamberts rejoice! In celebration of his 33rd birthday, which is today (January 29), Adam Lambert has revealed some super exciting news! The American Idol season-eight runner-up and current frontman for Queen just announced the title of his upcoming third studio album (along with a brand new promo pic) on his Twitter account moments ago. . . and it's titled The Original High! The announcement follows Adam's news earlier this month that he has found a new home at Warner Bros. Records after ending his deal with RCA. The record will be executive produced by hit-makers Max Martin and Shellback, with a lead single set to drop in April. "I wanted something more internal and more grounded. A little less with the theatrical and the camp and the presentation. I wanted to bring it in a bit more," Adam told Billboard. "Being on the road with a British rock band, and being in London a lot this year, rehearsing with them and doing TV gigs, I think that has affected my sound and where we are headed with it. [Europe] is very ahead of the curve, or right on, and I was definitely influenced by that. Vocally, it's very intimate compared to what I've done in the past. There is a little bit of a daring, deeper internal conflict and poetry about it."
"I think it's pretty clear what we're after with these two guys (Max and Shellback). They are the masters. They are geniuses at melody," Adam continued. "It seems so simple and it is so complex. And I love that. It's effortless and it's graceful. They know what the people want to hear and the best way to reach the most people is radio. It's one of the reasons I wanted to work with them — because of their expertise in that field. I love everything they do, and was really excited to sit back down with them after having worked on For Your Entertainment." Get ready kids – ADAM IS BACK!

QuoteSpeaking of your new album, The Original High, how is it different to your previous material?
This album was executive produced by Max Martin and Shellback and they helped me keep a very cohesive sound and mood throughout. Sonically it feels more contemporary than my previous material. It's definitely pop but not bubblegum. We have avoided camp and theatrics and have favoured a darker, more grounded vibe, and at the same time, it will make you dance! Lyrically, it's very very personal, the album has an overall bittersweet feel to it. Vocally, I think it's my most tasteful, sophisticated work to date. With Max's guidance, I approached a lot of it with more restraint than in the past. Instead of being overly specific, most of the songs are more esoteric and so they're open to interpretation. I'm curious to hear about the individual meaning that people find in the songs dependent on their own situation.
I'm excited about this.
very excited about the album... i bet Ghost Town has a strong sing a long chorus

SO damn beautiful. That techno beat goes DEEP, and those guitars are classic "I Don't Believe You"-era Max.
Fantastic. This song defines what it means to build. That bridge into the final chorus. Continuous elements that all combine. Never explodes but just layers itself... dark, yet clubby and dancey.
And now I know this song is amazing
This song is fresh! I've been expecting techno influences to go mainstream for some time now. I think this can be a next big trend in pop after "deep house" era.
I need a few listens definitely. It reminds me of the current Hilary Duff song "Sparks".
It's not that super catchy as I thought. This works as a intro or teaser but not on full lenght for me yet.
I absolutely love this one: it's well produced, I love the contrast between the verses, the guitars mixed with the deep house instrumental... the dark lyrics and Adam not being flamboyant.
And the reverb in the first syllabes of the verses.

I didn't really like it. This isn't really pop and his style. What's wrong with Max lately?
That's the reason it is: pop is playing way too safe since a couple of years and this could be an attempt of a game changer.
The deep house trend is getting bigger and bigger -especially in the UK since 2013, after the Disclosure guys blowing up- and for example, people like Mary J. Blige wento to London for a month to write and record her latest release with english songwriters and producers.
An established producer like Max could repeat the same formula over and over again and play safe, but I guess he decided to go further. Since he's working with Ali Payami -who comes from a club background- his productions are way more electronic and rich sonically, sound designing wise.
If you check the credits, there's people with different backgrounds contributing their ideas: the guitars from the Carolina Liar guy, the deep house chorus from Ali Payami, plus three talented topliners and Adam's amazing voice.
As an anecdote: I worked at Lollapalooza this year. At the after festival party, there was Diplo and Skrillex doing a DJ set. They were playing music released through their labels and they were mainly showing bootlegs, their fave songs and some of their work in progress. I shamazed every single song because I didn't knew any of these and just blew my mind... the thing is: these dudes know what they are doing. And I absolutely love this as a career move for Adam and a new direction for Max, artistically speaking.
This is actually called future house, it's the new EDM thing.
I don't understand why people consider this a new thing!? I've been hearing lots of similar songs on the radio for months now. this has to stop. I'd never expect a Max Martin involvement if I didn't know it.

It's like the dubstep part in the Hold It Against Me bridge...

Another lonely night with the cheiron-ish BGVs, love the verses. Kinda remind me of Pat Monahan.
I love the chord progression in Evil In The Night.
I am going CRAZY over how good "Another Lonely Night" is. I can't even form words. So pop. Dramatic, melodic, beautiful synths, really interesting production, great '90s sound, loooove the way he sings "and I don't give a fuck if the sun comes up".

(I'm not being sarcastic. There really is NOTHING special or "cool" about this. It's a black background with white letters. Like, seriously.)

Japan gets 3 exclusive bonus tracks.
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/feature/adamlambert_japanbonus_20150602
as always ::)
Regarding the Japanese release: actually not.
The Japanese edition will, according to HMV, have the 11 tracks of the standard edition, plus 2 "Japan exclusive" bonus tracks, yet TBD.
So my guess is, it'll come with the European deluxe edition tracks.
But of course I hope for extra tracks! :)
Cdjapan says: Adam Lambert New Album w/ 3 Japan-Only Bonus Tracks
But there is no tracklisting. Maybe they "think" these are exclusive but are actually the regular bonus tracks.
The whole marketing stragedy nowadays really pisses me off.
"How can we make more money with a
standard product?"
"Oh, let's take the regular 14-track album and take away 3 tracks, so we can sell that as a 'Standard edition', which allows us to call the STANDARD album a 'DELUXE edition' which we can charge FUCKING NINETEEN EUROS for, whereas the same product, without the 'deluxe' label would have sold for 14.99!"
>:(

Well that's why I was referring to HMV, where a tracklist was posted.
LMFAO!!

Not too keen on first listen.
Anyone else here the Calvin Harris influence on this song??
If anyone can't wait until the release date, here is the full stream featured on amazon.

My highlight: "There I Said It" - wonderful, breathtaking.
And it's good to hear Tove Lo together with Adam. They match really good. Quite a hymn.
To me there is not a single bad song on the album.
I did a quick listen: the Ali Payami house infused tracks are BRILLIANT.
Sterling Fox Covers Adam Lambert's 'Ghost Town': Exclusive Video Premiere
After working with Adam Lambert on cuts from his upcoming third album The Original High (June 12), singer-songwriter Sterling Fox hit the studio to record a live rendition of the LP's lead single "Ghost Town," which he co-wrote with the American Idol alum.
Fox initially wrote the track with Karlsson after he became inspired during a drive through the Mojave Desert outside of Las Vegas. "I stumbled upon this old ghost town near Needles, Nevada, and the song idea kind of popped up from that," he explains. "Parts of the song were also inspired by disillusionment with Hollywood and the kind of fame factory approach to music that exists there."
Fox originally wrote the demo with writer Tobias Karlsson before working on Lambert's version with Max Martin and Ali Payami. "I've been playing the song live for some time at little gigs around New York. I [shot] a video for my version of the song to just give people a different take on it."
http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/6576142/sterling-fox-ghost-town-adam-lambert-cover-video-premiere
I love it. And "world" is way more depressing than "heart".
I like his version
I was just listening to the stream, very good!
I'll buy the CD in a few hours :D
Except for the songs we knew about, Max has also produced "Lucy", so that makes it an extra CHEIRON song on this album. :-* 8)

After Hours is the only song without MXM/Wolf Cousins involvement.
Rumors (my baby Ebba killed it <3) reminds me of Lil Wayne's Lollipop in spots while Evil In The Night's (instrumental) chorus sounds like a mix of Duck Sauce's Barbara Streisand and Charli XCX's Break The Rules.
To me, Evil In The Night is like a Rudimental song.
WHAT AN ALBUM ! ! !
That's all I can say for now.
Fav tracks: Ghost Town, There I Said It, Rumors, Things I Didn't Say
My secret favorite part is the build-up to the The Light-chorus. Brilliant production in general. Hats off, Lulou!
Amazing background vocals by Max Martin btw!

The Light is my favourite so far.
Reminds me a lot of Gorgon City though.
Whoever decided to throw in that "Moo" is a genius. Now everybody's gonna talk about it! Wouldn't be surprised if it was Shellback, haha.
Also, anyone noticed Shellback and Max didn't write together on the album? According to the credits posted by B Steady.
After reading the Cheiron interview -thank you hitmkr for the transcription, amazing work- it makes sense: Max mentoring all these talented dudes and just getting things together and suggest things to make it better.

He says he talk with Max about his voice and using it, about being louder and aggresive, and in this album Max encouraged to be quieter.

Ghost Town is like the Cheiron Max Martin songs for the Backstreet Boys - it's only working if you hear EVERY second of the song! and that's a sign for a great song.

Which songs do you think will be the singles?
Evil in the night / things I didn't say
a Tove Lo song is good for marketing but I think this particular song is too urban for pop radio.
US album charts:
Album dropped from #3 to #38
But that's nothing compared to Hilary Duff.
#65 from #5 last week.
oh that's a pity, I suppose it's just not poppy enough

Ghost Town is about to develop in a few countries:
It's #2 in Australia (Official single charts) and soon about to enter the Top 10 in the iTunes Charts in Germany. Lots of potential still. He did not even promote the song here.
I love the song but people is not really into it.

by far not my favorite on the album but it's just soooooo smooth. love it!
I heard it after your post and it doesn't sound like Adam at all...
He sounds great in that song. I really like the simplicity of the record, it captures the late-night drive vibe quite nicely. Didn't use the cliché Kavinsky sound.
Yay, tour has been announced, including Berlin. That will be a festival of Max songs performed live. 8)
After Hours sounds just like The XX.
Still love this album from start-to-finish.
Adam Lambert will release his brand new single "Welcome to the Show" feat Laleh on March 17th.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_SwoD0ujsI&feature=youtu.be
The track was produced by Max Martin, and co-written with Ali Payami and Laleh.
Max Martin executive produced The Original High, and Payami co-produced several of the songs, including "Ghost Town" and "Another Lonely Night." Laleh, who is featured on "Welcome To The Show," has also written for Tori Kelly and Demi Lovato, including "Stone Cold," "Yes" and "Father" on Confident.
"Asked Max Martin for help"
"I wanted to surprise my fans with a new, uplifting anthem for the spring," Adam says in a press release. "I asked Max Martin for help and he paired me up with two great writers and producers; Ali Payami, who worked with me on 'Ghost Town,' and Swedish star Laleh who is also a featured vocalist on the track. I feel this song will give people strength to be exactly who they are."
Uhm.

I just love the idea that Adam is asking Max for help when he needs an anthem for spring and Max just delegates it to his crew. 8)

I really really liked Original High. the sound they all created is magic, perfection. dark and moody house pop.
! ! !
What's the problem here?
A great voice, great songs.
He's not that likable...
An absolutely amazing song by Tritonal, Jenaux & Adam Lambert:

Holy crap, what a tune. Those verses and pre-chorus are golden.

Sounds like it could be produced by Ali or Max
Doesn't sound like MXM at all.
Sounds like an inspiration from Lucy and his work from his first album, I don't think it's max either, I place my bet on someone like Axident, Jason Evigan or Monsters and Strangerz.
The track, co-written by Ferras, Sarah Hudson, Big Taste and Trey Campbell, is a fiery pop-rock anthem about not giving two, um, you know, about what people think about him.

Not very far from the names we've been hearing from witness.
Of course not the big hit but really a very strong song, very well crafted!
New song called "Feel Something", a taste of his new album.
He says he hired a new management company and signed to a new label... guess that means we're not getting the Max Martin follow-up to Original High as originally reported in 2016 (https://www.entertainment-focus.com/tv-section/tv-news/adam-lambert-joins-the-x-factor-australia/) :(

New single "New Eyes" out this friday.
As far as we know, he was working with Max and the Cousins, isn't he?
Wasn't he dropped from his previous label? Maybe they were the ones who pulled the strings to get Adam work with the Wolf Cousins, lately we haven't seen any swedes working with him in the last 2 singles.

Well, dropped is not exactly what happened: they parted ways amicably due to creative differences.
It makes sense because there were high expectations for these two releases and what happened wasn't considered a hit for a big budget project like this one.
His new music is released through Warner Bros. And he is now managed by Phillymack, run by Phil McIntyre who's affiliated to Roc Nation.
Some of the artists managed by Phillymack are The Jonas Brothers -Nick, Joe, DNCE- and Demi Lovato.

I agree. At least they're not bandwagoning.
