Question:
Will "I Can't Feel My Face" be a US Billboard Hot 100 #1?
Option 1: Yes!
Option 2: No!
The Weeknd has written songs with Max Martin.

We should watch out for his upcoming album!
I love Max Martin and I love The Weeknd, but I think they don't really fit together however LMH was amazing but it wouldn't have worked as an Abel solo track. I just hope The Weeknd will stick to his usual sound.
Added a third one.

I love them with all my heart.
I LOVE BOTH SONGS !!!!!!!!!!!
I don't like em.
dope songs but The Weeknd should only work with Illangelo, DannyBoyStyles & DaHeala. all the other producers/songwriters can not give him the sound he needs.

Thank you. Love the song!
What about it is supposed to be amazing?
i like the synthpads and the production overall. Maybe something more could happen during the last chorus.
I think it is the most unpredictable song Max've written in a while. It FEELS like it got a wierd structure but it really has a basic popstructure. The verse really doesn't sound like a verse melody wise to me. So after the chorus it goes in to the verse but it kind of feel like it is a post chorus that goes straight into the pre chorus. I dunno what my thoughts are yet, I have to listen more, it's quite addictive though. And fun.
Savan tweeted it's his best work ever or something like that. hmm
What do you guys think?
I think it is because it's not a straight pop song.
Just like Baby One More Time, for example.
I wonder about the double entendre of "can't feel my face".
I love "I Can't Feel My Face". I would never have guessed this was Max though.
I have no idea what they mean by "I can't feel my face" - is it just referring to drugs?
if it's The Weeknd, your first guess got to be drugs.
The song is currently #6 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Get that #1 :)
Thread title change please!!! New album coming out on August 28 one day before Michael Jackson's birthday and two days before Denniz PoP's dying day and it's called Beauty Behind The Madness!
Just bought Can't Feel My Face cause the anticipation for this album is too big! :-*

Hopefully, the MXM songs will be the singles.

"with her best friend" :D
What a weird combination but yet so awesome! So happy for Abel he got that opportunity to promote his song and album!
I imagine going to a Taylor Swift concert just because a friend wanted me to go with them and then all of a sudden The Weeknd comes on stage. Then I would've said his performance alone was worth the money. All hail Abel!
wow, I loved that performance! what a great combination.
Taylor's vocals were surprisingly on point.
Why does that Weekend guy look super dull? ???
Taylor improved a lot her vocals, she sounds a lot better now.
And I don't think she has the rhythm to earn the song. She did a good job, though.
besides his voice his hair is the most flawless thing this world has witnessed yet

Wow, now this is a great song!! In the verses, that "clipped" way of phrasing the last word of each phrase reminds me of some old school classic hit...it'll come to me...not copied, I mean just influenced. But I love every section of this, and the chorus has a dope, unusual chord change that makes it!! And that percussion on the gorgeous pre-chorus.....💊💊
I love In The Night too.
Hey George, I thought the clipped phrasing is like like "If This is It" by Huey Lewis.

Hey Rebecca, I hear what you mean on that. It came to me the one I was thinking of-- this Carl Carlton song (end of first chorus phrase) http://youtu.be/7RCTF33wKfQ
Thanks George, I've never heard that song before, and yes, it does have that phrasing.
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/02/magazine/can-the-weeknd-turn-himself-into-the-biggest-pop-star-in-the-world.html
Stymied, he turned to Wendy Goldstein, the head of urban A&R at Republic, for advice. ''The underperforming of that record in his own expectations of what it was supposed to do shook him to his core,'' she says. ''I said, 'You wanna be the biggest in the world?' He said, 'I absolutely wanna be the biggest in the world.' '' She and the newly malleable Tesfaye got to work. First, she arranged for him to record the duet he would perform with Ariana Grande at the A.M.A.s, ''Love Me Harder.''
That track came from the studio of Max Martin, the Swedish producer whose influence on 2000s pop is matchless — his guiding hand firmly behind the careers of Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson and Katy Perry. He works with a large team of writers and producers out of a sprawling residential compound in West Hollywood that was once home to Frank Sinatra. Martin's hit-factory typically solicits little creative input from the talent, who show up when it's time to sing. This process was alien to Tesfaye, who had always written his own lyrics and was unsure that he would be a good match for Grande's good-girl gleam. When he saw the lyrics that were sent to him, he found them to be tepid. He rewrote his verse, recorded it and sent it back.
What could have been a contentious exchange was actually edifying for both parties: Martin liked Tesfaye's changes and kept them; Tesfaye realized he could make sleek, accessible pop on his own terms. He asked Goldstein to secure Martin's services for his next album. ''If I'm gonna be the biggest in the world,'' he told her, ''I need a handful of songs like that.''
When Tesfaye went to Martin's complex last fall to begin work, he set up in a wing where Marilyn Monroe used to live. Martin's team presented Tesfaye with a selection of prewritten material, and he rejected it all. They worked from scratch instead, and the first song they wrote was ''In the Night,'' the new album's most electric moment, a homage to and an updating of peak-era Michael Jackson. Before going into the studio, Tesfaye was listening to ''Copacabana,'' the 1978 Barry Manilow disco jaunt about the showgirl Lola, the bartender Tony and the murder that took his life — and, in a sense, hers too. Its exuberant arrangement is a wide grin masking unspeakable pain.
''In the Night'' moves in similar horror-story fashion. ''She was numb, and she was so codependent,'' he sings, pulling back from the notes with a splash of Jackson's vocal agility. The music suggests celestial escape. Later, Tesfaye reveals the wound: ''She was young, and she was forced to be a woman.'' Underneath its sunbeam-bright euphoria hides a tale of childhood sexual abuse. For Tesfaye, ''In the Night'' was the sort of compromise he was excited to make, a glistening surface salving the wounds that are his stock in trade. When he first played the song for Ron Perry, the president of Songs Music Publishing, which handles Tesfaye's publishing, Perry couldn't contain himself: ''It's 'Billie Jean'! It's 'Billie [expletive] Jean'!''
^ ^ ^
What a greaaat article, thanks! The comparison with "Billie Jean" though, crystallized something for me something I've thought about for awhile: the SONICS of a a lot of records today (don't get me wrong, I really like aspects of it, butttt......): they don't really wear well on the ears. Including "In The Night". It's like a sledgehammer.... Something's missing. Listen on headphones to "Billie Jean" & maybe you'll hear what I mean...... http://youtu.be/Zi_XLOBDo_Y
Having said that though, there's one part on "In The Night" that's headed in the right direction, with DOPE sonics: the pre-chorus. Somebody on that team must've been listening to "Pet Sounds", because the percussion and echoey sound of it....there's NO pop records out in last 10 years that has that sound!!! :-)
Tom Cruise lipsynced the song at Jimmy Fallon's late show.
It will be a #1 next week: to me, that is a sync...
Tracklist now confirmed:
Labrinth, Lana Del Rey and Ed Sheeran are the featurings.
In the night is of course also on it.
I'm really excited about it.
Again just #2 apparently.
Here are the writing credits of the album.

Because ''I need a handful of songs like that.'' Two is not a handful.
There's a couple of Savan's as well.
It's another number 1 for Max!!!! Congrats!!!!

Notably, "Face" is the first No. 1 for Martin by a solo male artist. The rest of his chart-toppers have been recorded by either solo female artists or groups. And, after tallying his first two No. 1s as a writer in 1999-2000, he's added his next 19 all since 2008, with at least one in each year in that span.

Quite a lot comments. Love it when Max is mentioned and Max is discussed.
Shameless is much better than the other two Max songs here, which are pretty dull MJ pastiches.
Love the minimalist guitar-led production, and the classic "I have no sha-ame - SHAME!" (nice take on the always-satisfying HEY! background chant in songs like Roar and Bad Blood)
I totally agree with you. Shameless is waaaaay better than the other two songs. I'm addicted to that song at the moment.

Apparently "In the night" is the new UK single.
Tesfaye's hair also prompted one of his most WTF celebrity encounters. He was at a party for Sam Smith after this year's Grammys, at an $80 million mansion in Bel-Air. Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran were there; Disclosure were DJ'ing. "Everyone was hammered," Tesfaye says. "Sam had just won, like, every Grammy, so he was having the time of his life. Max Martin actually left because everyone was so drunk. Unfortunately, that was the one month I decided to stop drinking. Everybody was having a great time, all these cool things were happening, and I was shaking, like — 'Fuck, I really want a drink.'"

I hate that the Vocals on Shameless sound so muffled. The production is so clear but the vocals aren't, so I guess it was intended.
Mariah Carey covers story on Complex mag:
"Their battles -between her and her label- weren't just about release dates, but about creative control over their music, Carey says. "If Michael Jackson were alive he could sing, [The Weeknd's] 'Can't Feel My Face.' He could sing any of those songs. And sometimes it reminds me, 'Oh, I wish that Michael would've had a song like this'—I loved when he did [the 2001 song] 'Butterflies' and songs like that. They would always hate on that at Sony because they wanted him to do these big pop records." By and large, labels aren't interested in pop superstars proclaiming their independence. The Weeknd famously rejected songs Swedish superproducer Max Martin wrote for him. Martin eventually opened up to collaborating on the writing, which birthed the Weeknd's No. 1 pop breakthrough "Can't Feel My Face.""
http://www.complex.com/music/mariah-carey-interview-2016-cover-story
What? When? Which songs Weeknd rejected?
UPD I found it nytimes.com/2015/08 (http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/02/magazine/can-the-weeknd-turn-himself-into-the-biggest-pop-star-in-the-world.html).
QuoteMartin's team presented Tesfaye with a selection of prewritten material, and he rejected it all.
Complex author garbled instrumental "Material" and whole "Song".
Those songs obviously never saw the light of day :)
I think what Mariah Carey means is that The Weeknd rejected the original versions of songs Max wrote and then The Weeknd re-wrote parts to suit him better and the collaborated with Max. It was for Can't Feel My Face and I think also Love Me Harder.
I think Mariah just talked without knowing just because Can't Feel My Face is heavily Michael Jackson inspired.

Secrets, Love To Lay, I Feel It Coming is dope. Especially the last one gives me a great feeling. (And is the one I've heard most)
Isn't there something very ABBA'ish about those chords in the section right after the chorus in Secrets :o There is a song it reminds me of and I think it is by Abba.
SO Many songs on the album I have to listen more before I rate any songs. What do u guys think ?
Love To Lay must be a Tove Lo hint.
I love Love To Lay, Rockin and Secrets so far. Although I haven't listended to it in depth yet.
Love the "Beddawenwebodapou" in the A Lonely Night pre chorus.
I find it a bit boring that he borrows from himself so much, when it comes to melodies. Is he already out of ideas and flows lol?

It's just small fragments, but Attention in the start of the chorus is like The Hills.
Verse of A Lonely Night is like verse of The Hills.
Six Feet Under is a more obvious one, when he borrows whole parts from Low Life, but that one is ok cuz it's intentional.
I dunno, but I heard these things immediately but maybe they aren't that similar haha.

The video for Blinding lights is out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NRXx6U8ABQ
Did The Weeknd denied Max a N1 hit by choosing Heartless over Blinding Lights? Right now Blinding lights has 50 million more streams and it's heading to do better on the charts on the next few weeks.
It was already #1 in Germany. I believe it will be also #1 in the US eventually.
Song is goooooooooooooooooooood.
i know im getting assassinated for this but i still prefer heartless, young metro always goes hard on the low ends
Both songs came out around the same time. Heartless took of much better with regards to Spotify plays. I don't remember the exact plays but I think it was Heartless at 80 million vs Blinding Lights at 20 million. Today it's Heartless at 139 million vs Blinding LIghts at 226 million. Songs were released at 27 respectively 29 November.
I wonder if this era is conceptual, because the visuals and stuff seem to have some kind of double entendre.
Blinding lights reached the top 10 on the billboard hot 100, hoping for it to keep rising

My God, Is Max trying to make a comeback for the third time? The first being in 2004, second in 2008 and now 2020?
Blinding lights now at number 4 in Billboard top 100. From day one it entered (at #11 i thiink) I had the feeling it could become a number one song, as the sound of the song was something new compared to the other top 100 stuff. Second week it fell back to like spot 40 and I was like WHAT!?!?!. People probably needed time to adjust to the new flavour. Xmas then delayed it rising back to the top because all those old xmas songs were taking over. After those songs quit wasting the time of the charts, blinding lights started rising again, very slowly though. It has been rising or remained in the same position ever since. I'm going to stick to my initial position: it's going to become number one somewhere in the coming weeks. AND I WANT TO SAY IT HERE: BLINDING LIGHTS IS A BRAVE SONG AS IT INNOVATES INSTEAD OF GOING ALONG ON THE (THEN) CURRENT TRENDS. I also read criticism about lady gaga's stupid love by some people on the forum here, but I see the song as one which follows the trend blinding lights has set.
So do you think that Max will get 10 more number one hits and beat out Paul McCartney before his career is over? I mean the last 3 years weren't kind Max at all. I think he needed to kind of work with really different people in order for him to get his groove back into writing making hits.
He needs to go beyond just what Dennis had told him and to use different song structures, genres, artists and things that made previous hit songs great like instrumental bridges and solos rather than keep using the same tired formula that's been done to death by now everybody in the industry.
Blinding lights at least does break away from the formula a bit with its synth riff.
10 is probably impossible (11 to beat actually). Maaaaybe he can tie Lennons 26 but also doubtful. He's not getting younger and while I think he still has a lot of drive in him, it sure as hell ain't getting easier. I just hope he can continue to make great songs. The trends in music over the last years I feel have forced him and a lot of other writers into a direction I don't enjoy too much personally. I agree that Blinding Lights was a breath of fresh air and I hope that this new wave of retro pop can give his melody genius a little revival.
I don't know what to think, as so many factors may influence if he's gonna touch 10 more number one hits. It would be against my odds to get 10 more number ones, I would say. 2019 hasn't been THAT bad for max at all. He was on number 2 with I don't care Ed Sheeran. It didn't went 1 because old town road was in the way but deserved to be number one. He also came with this blinding lights. But the greatest song I enjoyed in 2019 was Finish What We Started, which I think is a great, great song! If someone has a theory on why it didnt make billboard 100 please tell me. If there is a time for country to rise high in billboard it is 2019-2020. He released about 8 ariana grande songs, but ariana grande has oversaturated herself and needs to reinvent herself imo. Also the song with shellback for pink (miss you sometime) the sound design is really cheesy, I can't place it, just like Remember the name with Ed Sheeran. It sounds like a Dr Dre beat from 2005 (probably intentional), and such songs dont go to number one. I agree though that 2017 and 2018 were not impressive (special mention, however, to no tears left to cry).
And yes, you hit the most obvious point of the blinding lights song: the instrumental part in the chorus where just the lead synth is heard. There is no other max martin song I know of that has such a part in its first chorus. The lady gaga song also has something in the same spirit with the chopped vowel sound built in the chorus, playing a very similar role.

For sure he has a lot of protegerse they're having fruitful careers on their own but lack the real impact that Max always put into his songs. The only one that probably is up to his level is Shellback but he's tapped out also. maybe he can try to produce for couple of rock or metal bands since that was his roots and maybe give pop a break until the listening audience start having an interest in pop music again.
Only Human sounds like a step in the right direction. I wonder what it would sound like if he did work with Weeked on a track or two.
Well, looks like these are Oscar Holter's tracks with Abel+Max and some other collaborators doing the toplines and adding extra stuff.
And Oscar will be probably at his peak, after the Troye Sivan tracks and Katy Perry's Bon Appetit, which became a slow burner... I hated it at first but it's such a great track.
Just heard the new Max tracks and damn what a comeback!! Everything is perfectly balanced in the mixing and Abel really shines on all them.
Probably the only track I didn't much care for was Hardest To Care mostly due to its drum n bass style production but Max also does brings the best out of The Weeked.
Maybe this is a sign that Oscar Holter is the new Shellback to help Max get a few more hits before he's too old to do it.
Idk if he's the new Shellback.....More like the new Ilya or Ali Payami. Max always takes new beat makers under his wing.
Scared to live sounds like it was inspired by Akon's song called Sunny Day.
I love that bass in In Your Eyes. (Asking myself: would this type of played bass become a new trend, with Dr Luke doing kind of the same in the Say So song?)
Who has an idea about the synth used in the intro of In Your Eyes? Would it be a D50?
It's interesting how Abel split Max songs into two categories defined by its positions in the album. The second half is way more appealing to me.

For sure, but then that sax solo came in on the bridge, and I was like is that it? But then it came back on the outro and I immediately fell in love back with the song! That's why I enjoy instrumental sections on songs like this which is something kind of lacking in today's music. It lets you enjoy the groove and overall atmosphere on the track your listening to. Let's hope that Max makes this a trademark of his on future productions.
Was listening to that sax again. Sounds like it could be the standard brass preset found on the CS-80. Yeah, those solo's give the chills and good that you mention: I analysed many Max Martin songs and when it comes to the outro, he has - by my knowledge - never ended a song in this way. It's such a reward to give the bridge one more time and creates chills because it's going against the expectation (the expectation is mostly to expect that the song ends on the last few words of the chorus or b-hook ending on tonic or the riff fading out in gain or reverb tail).

Exactly, We just don't get that in songs today, I mean it's such a treat, especially with singers/group that are trying to replicate that 80s style. Back then every song had an instrumental/solo of some sorts & it's nice to hear it again.
It also reminds me of Max's band, Its Alive, very first single from 1988 I have called "Time Waits For No One" (that's not even on Youtube at all). That song has that some of the same vibes (kind of also reminds me for a theme song for a late 80s tv soap opera) as I'm feeling in "In Your Eyes" with saxophone/horns all over it & if you can get a hold of it, it's worth a great listen!
Also I checked the Tidal credits for "In Your Eyes" & it credits one bloke named "Tomas Jonsson" who did the Tenor Sax on the track. So I don't think it was a preset & I could be wrong about that.
https://listen.tidal.com/album/134858516/credits
I just did a quick search on Tomas Jonsson and he seems a specialist in saxophones. So you are probably right about that a synth wasn't even used for that part.
You could also argue that those instrumental parts that he applies now was something also done not too long ago by Avicii (good example: Avici EP 2017) and Calvin Harris (2012 and 2014 albums). Since the EDM era is past its peak and people can't stand it any longer, it's a gap in the charts that is perfectly filled in this way. And yes, the sound design is so pre 90's to me (ofcourse, combined with a modern twist) and to me personally it would be so welcome again. Will listen to that It's Alive song. Always interesting to listen to the early works of a master like Max Martin.

Yea, the sax definitely sounds live for sure.
If I am not mistaken, I just came across a list with single releases and it said that the next single for the weeknd is to be released at 24 March. It is In Your Eyes. Nice nice to see how it's going to behave on billboard charts.
Oh, and I was checking on this website called kworb.net (really nice to access data) and Blinding Lights is like on top on so many lists. I really think that it will be number 1 on billboard by tuesday.
The video of In Your Eyes is out!
EDIT: Blinding Lights is now at N2, but it's N1 in almost every platform, we shall wait for the people to get tired of viralizing The Box.
In Your Eyes is my second favorite track off the album after Blinding light. Save your tears is my third and the other 2 Max songs are the most solid tracks of the rest.
Save your tears sounds like a hit too but I think it sounds really similar to Post Malone's song Circle. Had anyone else noticed?

I have, mostly in the drum work & melody. It's kinda sad that Max has to make his own "bootleg" version of a preexisting hit song just to stay alive on the charts.
This is not the first time too:
True by Spandau Ballet = I Want It That Way by Backstreet Boys,
Hey Ya by Outkast = Shake It Off,
UpTown Funk! by Mark Ronson = Can't Feel My Face by The Weeknd &
Can't Stop The Feeling by Justin Timberlake
Royals by Lorde = Send My Love (To Your New Lover)
Just to name a few.
Nothing sad about it imo, rather a skill essential for those who wanna remain in popular music. I call it improvement of the state of the art. Dr luke opened up about it to Seabrook. When indie rock was popular in the early 2000's, people loved the music. Dr luke and Max Martin enjoyed the sonics of those songs but Max Martin addressed to Dr luke when what type of energy had to come in those songs and it didnt come. They loved the style of music but also had the believe that they could actually do it better, especially with regard to delivering the right amounts of energy at the right time (a strength of Max Martin songs). We all know what happened: we - as ordinary listeners - still love the Max Martin songs from that era and merely like the others from that era. If a song sounds like Circles, it's just like a painter saying that he is going to make a painting in the style of Picasso's blue period. It means that you would use the style of colours, but you could paint a whole different theme on your palette. Sometimes you want certain colors cause they please pop crowd. It is like having a great hiphop song in 2019 without the 808 bass, everybody is gonna miss it. Don't criticize this aspect but instead learn from it and try to make it one of your skills. Dali spoke of how imitation was a necessity in creating. Imitate the colors, but not the lines on the palette. The former is a good steal, but imitating the lines as well in a weaker fashion is suicide.
We have blinding lights sounding like 80's. Saved your life sounding like Akon's Sunny Day and this song sounding like Circles.
That sax guy on in your eyes also played the sax in Only Human. Im into saxophones now, also love the one in All that she wants ace of base. Brass is my flaw that I soon hope to turn into a strength.

That was my very first thought when I heard it for the first time.
Too Late,
Hardest to Love, and
After Hours are insanely well produced - once again a brilliant album by The Weeknd. Quality-wise probably the most consistent artist of the past ten years, especially considering his output.

I have, For example, after the final chrous of "True" you can hear the refrain that was used in "IWITW". The Instrumentation of "Shake It Off" sounds almost the same as "Hey Ya" but with more horns. "SML (TYNY)" has the same build up as "Royal" only with a more poppier hook. Finally "Can't Stop The Feeling" has the heavy brass & groove as "UpTown Funk" only with smothered sounding guitars & a call back on the final chorus that sounds like it was pulled from Max's other hit "Everybody" from 97.
What do hear them as well?
Pretty much everything sounds like Post Malone now...
Scared to Live and Save Your Tears currently rank at #12 and #13 in my personal After Hours ranking.
As any The Weeknd album I'm also loving this one, and Max contributed three great songs, but "STL" and "SYT" just ain't it.

Blinding Lights is #1 aka "The little song that could" on Billboard. Making it Max's 23rd hit as a writer & his 22nd as a producer. Only 4 more to beat Lennon (26) & 10 more to beat McCartney (32). Which I think will be impossible at this point since Max's last #1 (Can't Stop The Feeling) was in 2016. But anyways welcome back to the summit!
but will it last more than a week???
Yeah, it was confirmed this afternoon, I was so happy!! Another very much deserved #1! This song is such a bop, I knew it at first listen!! ;D
I am positive Max will beat John Lennon's record sooner or later and he might also break Mc Cartney's! Why not? There were some years he had 3 No 1's, just look at 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014...
Bear in mind he devoted sooo much time to his musical in the latest years. Then, besides the fact he is not even 50, he obviously has all the keys, knowledge, experience, partners, artists and TALENT to be the most successful. I am definitely very optimistic for the future! He is a legend! Anyways, to me, he is already the best producer in the world, there's no way you can compare the music industry as it is today, with sooo much competition, to that at the times of the Beatles.
Not to mention, Doja Cat's "Say So" makes it into the Top 10... two songs in the Hot 100 Top 10 produced by both Max and Dr. Luke... is this 2004 again??

No, it's January 2015 - good morning.
I'm probably not the first, I'll probably say it anyways but I wonder if "Scared To Live" will be the next hit after "In Your Eyes". I feel it will become the people's anthem after this whole coronavirus panic is over if it does it end. I mean with a title like that it's bound to become sort of relation for the people on resuming everyday life.
after hearing tracks 9-11 on after hours i had to go back and listen to a lonely night to make sure i wasn't buggin. this album felt like a noticeable dip in quality from starboy especially on Max end.
heartless and faith are my top 2 from this album, i don't think i will appreciate much else until the instrumentals drop in ~18 months. It was the same with Kiss Land and Balloons, which i still think don't go as hard with vocals in many instances.

I hear you, the album starts off like the dark classic "Trilogy" era Weeknd but then around "Blinding Lights", it starts becoming "Starboy" era filler before ending with classic Weeknd like at the beginning. I wish that Abel would just either go full on pop with Max + WC on every track or stuck to Illangelo + his XO crew to make another trilogy like what he was gonna do with follow ups for "My Dear Melancholic," before they got scrapped.
I made a custom tracklist/Playlist for a shorter (32 mins) but stronger "After Hours" that matches as a proper followup for "MDM".
1. Alone Again
2. Too Late
3. Snowchild
4. Escape From LA
5. Heartless
6. Faith
7. After Hours
I also made another album out the 5 Max tracks + 2 leftovers + 3 bonus tracks that I call "Blinding Lights". What do you think? (I was just gonna leave the Max tracks as a 5 song EP but then he dropped the bonus tracks so.)
1. Blinding Lights
2. In Your Eyes
3. Save Your Tears
4. Hardest To Love
5. Scared To Live
6. Nothing Compares
7. Repeat After Me
8. Until I Bleed Out
9. Missed You
10. Final Lullaby
I'm still not feeling the album.

I made a revisited playlist as I was listening and you're right, those two track really sound out of place on the "Blinding Lights" Ep I made. So decided to add them to the first EP, The 3 deluxe bonus tracks I originally was gonna have on the "BL" EP but the way they were mixed & overall sound of them is what made me removed them off of it. I made a bonus EP using 3 of the remixes from the deluxe edition along with the bonus tracks to make what I call "After Hours: Epilogue". I didn't put the Heartless Remix due to it's bad mixing and guest verse from Uzi & the Scared To Live (SNL Version) was cut due to well being the same as the studio version also its live too so it wouldn't of fit.
Here are the revamp tracklists (any additional input is welcome)

I'd scrap the whole EP.
i still think the first five songs on this album are trash, but the second half really grew on me over time except for BL and UIBO which are still pretty mid
in your eyes and save your tears have some great bass lines and melodies, but the title track and RMI are also quality tracks
a lonely night STILL better than any track on this LP tho

Max tend to use the same swedish guys for brass. This is not like a "typical" remix (like EDM or whatever), it's the same song just with a different mix with some new arrangement stufff, and Doja.
New arrangements? It's basically the same song with new verses and a slightly different structure.
Probably they used stuff from the sessions to not be the exact same thing.
Loving the Doja vocals.

I don't think her vocals match the feel of the song
I agree but I think what really sounds out of place rap verse. She needs to stop trying to be Nicki Minaj 2.0.
Yes? They've added brass arrangements and the Doja verse alters the song original structure a bit, otherwise its the same. Don't think they recorded any new instruments. The brass was probably cut from the original

I wasn't expecting a remix but well... I kinda like Doja's singing voice more than her rapping.

Brilliant, also the "single cover" - incredible job!
OMG!! I'm beyond excited!
Ohh siiiick that's gonna be lit. This is one of my favorite songs from the album. I like it more than BL

"Take My Breath"
I'm beyond excited about this.
Pretty awesome!
Gonna be hearing this nonstop in 3...2...1!
Amazing record. Very tasteful and very much continues the sound of the biggest hits of the last record.
I'm very excited about this era.

It sounds somehow more sophisticated. The funk element is so pleasing, and the more I play it, the more insatiable I get to replay it

Check this out: it's a french disco song from 1977.
Any similarities? ;D

omg it practically samples this! did you find this on your own, or someone else posted it? The similarities are glaring. It's even in the same key!
This is Lenny Kravitz' "The Chamber", Disclosure's "Nocturnal" (feat. The Weeknd), "Blinding Lights" and Berlin's "Take My Breath Away" (obviously) thrown into one song - and it is amazing!
However it might not become as big as "Blinding Lights". And to go even further, without the success of "Blinding Lights" this song wouldn't receive that much acceptance.
Edit: And apparently there's a huge portion of Cerrone's "Supernature" interpolated.
Cool they Elvira did background vocals on this. Hopefully we get the stems one day so we can hear her part / the song layers in general. The vocoder is less prominent but it's still there
The Rhode keys have a similar feel to pink's hey why (miss you sometime), I love it, I didn't fully catch it on the first listen, but now I'm obsessed.
this song was on its way to classic status until i heard the hook. how you gonna have your lead single riding off THIS come on now
the vocoder in the bridge is serving thinking of you/international smile teas... that jawn fr brought the track all the way back from the dead
the giorgio moroder type beat is excellent and accurate. its my head canon that shellback literally fixed everything that was wrong with the drum samples on BL and SYT so that oscar could lay down this heat
I like the instrumental more than the song itself.
