A new song called "Heart to break" appeared on ASCAP
Only Julia and Joshua are credited, this could be either a demo for someone or Julia's next single, it's an interesting mix, I hope it could get released at some time.
EDIT: Also saw a few songs with The Struts too, all of them without Justin Tranter (just to note).
EDIT2: It's better if we keep these two in the same thread.
This a half an hour interview with Justin Tranter

Her single "Issues" is now about to be released.

Selena sounds great on this
Well, I was expecting something more upbeat for a debut single, but it's not bad, maybe in three listens from now it would get stuck in my head.

First thing I thought when I heard it the first time: this is from the sessions for Selena's Revival.
Same Old Love has the same vibe.

Comparing to what Zedd did with Julia's weak thin voice, Stargate and Benny Blanco are sucks in vocal production.
i think they were working off demo vocals. they do seem thin - a big difference from the fullness she had on Daisy. which is surprising because Benny isn't known for bad vocal production. maybe Stargate had more a hand in that department, who knows. but Issues is still a catchy, minimalist pop song.
Issues really works for me. Nice track.

Justin Tranter speaks about the industry.
It's a good, provocative article, and I'm sure a lot of what he's saying is true, especially about bring an artist, but when he singles out the groundbreaking songwriters as being (he literally said "they're ALL either women, black or gay" and "in the HISTORY of the business" and " the ones who really left a huge mark" -- and there are many great songwriters in that category, no doubt about it-- but he leaves out.........The Beatles? Bob Dylan? Brian Wilson? He's putting Linda Perry and Julia Michaels on that level??? This is PC insanity.
Here's Julia performing Issues live for the first time:
http://www.nova100.com.au/music/julia-michaels-performs-issues-novas-red-room
"When you see most sessions are just a bunch of white, straight dudes, you realise, wow, this industry still has a long way to go..."
I'm confused, please someone explain me because I don't get if the point it's the amusing amount of minorities dominating the business? Or the exact opposite?
What about this generation of White straight males songwriters/producers who did left a mark like Dr Luke or Ryan Tedder?

Another turn around of Linkin Park, the funny part is that they didn't create any top 10 hit since they turned EDM (for the ones who claim they are sell-outs), great song tho. I love Kiiara's vocals.

She's so lovely on stage, although I feel that sometimes she forces the smile when she's nervous. She laughed a lot in the Linkin Park's Chester memorial when she sung heavy with kiiara, that was a little bit awkward.

I've already stated that the laugh was very awkward, it wasn't clearly a venue to having a laugh while someone introduces you. Maybe it's just me, but Kiiara wasn't showing the same emotions.

Yeah, and I wanted to know what was awkward about that laugh.
Have you watched the whole event?
It was a celebration, even the event itself had a "celebration" in its title.
Mike laughed a lot as well and said Chester would've liked it that way.
It wasn't Chester's funeral, it was the celebration of Chester's life.

Ok, this is pretty brilliant.
The song structure is unique, her writing is top tier, and love the early 2000s pop rock production. Gives me Avril / Kelly vibes but a little more somber and ambivalent with her delivery which somehow works.
I was thinking she switched her style after the rise of Maggie Lindemann, Madison Beer, Machine Gun Kelly etc. which is a cringe for an A-lister. Nothing to do with paying homage to Avril and Kelly. And a one-note melody, again.

I mean, to me it's like a career song. It could be her crossover to a main audience.
I still can't get the song with JP Saxe... though their numbers are good.
I don't know who Sofia Carson is but she has released some interesting stuff lately.
You can hear Julia clearly doing background vocals.
Love it.
That song by Fred is based on a poem written by Julia.
The album by JP Saxe is out today, he is Julia's boyfriend.
They wrote Like That together and was produced by Ryan Marrone.
I'm not really into the production but it's beautifully written.
JP Saxe said: Julia and I were working on our albums at the same time, and we both thought they were done. But then we were having this moment of very loud insecurity at the same time, at two in the morning, sitting in the living room that we share. We were both just wondering, 'Could our albums be slightly better?'—you know, after a year of writing close to 100 songs. And we ended up writing the first single on her album 'All Your Exes' from 2021's Not in Chronological Order and the first single on my album. This song felt like the right way to start unfolding the body of work and give people their entranceway into the album.
