Scott Martin :)

Hi Guys, Im getting a designer to do a website for me to promote me as a songwriter.

I need some ideas for the design, so I thought Id ask which artist/songwriter sites you like.

Post them here please!  ;)

Some examples;

http://www.karadioguardi.com/main.html
http://www.desmondchild.com/ (wait for it to get past the intro)
http://www.jorgenelofsson.com/
http://www.nickelback.com/ (I like the colour scheme)
http://www.tobygad.com/

Thank you,

Scott.

The Jorgen Elofsson one is really good indeed. The Desmond Child on is also extremely good.

I also like the following ones:

* www.asideproductions.com
* www.epicentre.se
* www.andreascarlsson.se
* www.maratone.se
* www.locationsongs.com

Good luck on your site and mostly on your songwriter career, don't forget to post the address once you have it done!  ;)

Thank you Sabine, thats very kind of you. I'll definitely post the link when its done.  ;)

Im gearing up for a songwriting conference in June. Paying a deposit for it was the best thing I ever did as its set a deadline to finish 3 or 4 hopefully GREAT songs. Im also getting the website ready for that date.

*Sabine*

Would you post some of your demos/songs for us? I'd be very curious to hear...

Scott Martin :)

I promise to do so VERY soon. Just tonight I spoke to a girl who is coming in to sing one of my new songs soon. Tomorrow night, Im recording vocals for another song Im pitching to a 'popera' (pop opera) artist called Romina Arena.

Ill post the songs in the next few weeks I promise.

Cheers,

Scott.

Great idea to start a website Scott

I like simple websites

Make sure it's fast to load, nothing worse when you have to wait ages. Jorgen's takes forever, in fact, some of the others do too. I don't really like it when you get to a site and then it says, press to enter site.

I like Desmond Child's, though he doesn't have all songwriter information there
So put all songwriter information, if you have co-written any songs.

I don't really like Nickelback's, it's hard to know where to go to find stuff.

I'm going to think more about this, for the last 1/2 hour my keyboard hasn't worked and I thought it was broken so I closed down all those websites, I just turned it around and noticed that it needed new batteries!! I didn't know it needed batteries, anyway, now I'm going to watch a dvd and will reply tomorrow.

I agree totally. I think having to sit through an opening movie/animation is really dated too.

Will do.

Yeah, I really dont like the navigation, it took me a while to spot the links. I really just like the colour combo and the 'stressed look' of the lettering.

No worries, thanks again!  ;)

I'm having another look at those sites and I don't really like any of them.

Kara's takes forever to load and then have to click through many screens to get to her discography and then she doesn't have full songwriting/production credits! not that I can see, and then music automatically starts and I can't see where to stop it, annoying.

Toby Gad's takes forever, I couldn't be bothered to look at it.

Diane Warren's is quite nice, looks pretty but she doesn't have full songwriting credits, not that I can see and sometimes she has co-written.  http://www.realsongs.com/

I really like Aside Production's site, simple, has a proper discography and a couple of photos of them.

I quite like Andreas Carlsson's, quite like the look of it

I really like Maratone's the best! Simple, easy to navigate, plain background, the site loads instantly, nothing pops up, a few small photos, full songwriting credits.

Have you considered just having a myspace Scott?

Scott Martin :)

Hi Rebecca, thanks for your thoughts, you raise some good points.

I do have a myspace page, but Im wanting to also have my own dedicated site, with more information than the myspace profiles tend to offer.

Im getting some quotes from a few designers now, before I go ahead with it.

Cheers,

Scott.

Scott Martin :)
