I could be wrong, but I think that people can run the songs through a computer program and strip layers out of it and so can listen to the background vocals etc

I know a lot of people believe that, but it's simply not possible with the quality of these audio files. It seems like some snippets of the mix stems.

I'm afraid it isn't possible to strip back to this kind of level from a mix (unfortunately for us). Someone has definitely exported these from the sequencer (eg ProTools) session. There are even unused vocal takes in some of the other tracks. It's just weird that it's been done across the board of different production companies, ie not just the Cheiron or Maratone tracks. My only guess is that maybe record companies request an export of mix elements and vocal takes...?

Axel

that is most likely the case, so DJs can make remixes etc... but that's just my guess.

Yeah that'd be my guess too... just strange that they'd be giving them unused/dodgy vocal takes etc in amongst everything.

Great!!  That song has the greatest vibe -- it's so happy!!

Rebecca

That's great. Well deserved, the song is awesome. Predictable that Adele was at No.1

Not by Cheiron writers though but still nice.
And I liked it..

why do all of you think that the flute in "criminal" is a real flute?? it sounds pretty cheap to me and I just thought that this was a little "joke" from max & shell because in that way, the "real song" comes even more powerful! and when there is no one mentioned as a flute player in the booklet then it probably was just a keyboard sound ;)

Yeah I'm pretty sure that flute isn't real haha. I don't think it's in there as a joke though, to me it's doing what Max is so good at... grabbing our attention straight up at the beginning of the song. It's so unlike everything else out there at the moment, and to me it gives the track a really cool, mysterious vibe. I also think it fits perfectly with the rest of the song, seeings the chorus almost sounds middle eastern in it's melody, like this...

I think it's clever and creative. Of course you could always listen to this version... ;)

I love the flute sound in Criminal! I think we discussed it in another thread that it's not a flute, it's some sort of flute-sounding keyboard.

I think it sounds great and agree that it adds a mysterious vibe to it. I don't like the version without the flute as well.

you are right Josh, it does sound a bit middle eastern.

Some old Britney footage appeared on Youtube.
The songs have slightly different arrangements and Britney looking gorgeous.
She performs You Got It All and that confirms that song was recorded for the BOMT sessions.

She's shooting the video for her new single today. I don't think she worked with Max at all on her next album sadly.
