It's kinda quiet on the Forum, so in my never-ending quest to present overlooked gems from the golden days when Max/Luke actually wrote and produced (and played) everything on their songs, here are two golden oldies......so obscure there are only about two videos for each song on YouTube :-)

Freaking. Awesome. Both of them. These are the melodies I've been missing.

I'll throw my favourite of 2008 into the mix, it fits in perfectly.

Feelgoodlies

This has to be one my favourite from them.  I just miss the angry rock stuff they do.

B Steady

I don't miss it at all, I'm glad it went over quickly ...

Yes, love that one Feelgoodlies, and for some reason it made me think of this one which I'd forgotten about for years

Me too, love it! To me the only thing better than Marion Ravon's "Break You", is Megan McCauley's "Break You"! I've never been able to find a good quality version, but I love Megan's vocals, especially in the chorus... it's more gutsy and the harmonies are louder in the mix which sounds cool.

I think the best song is.......

The guitar riff is absolutely amazing and the whole song is gourgeus.

Absolutely, Alex!!  That song is always in my top list by them......incredible song, and that riff is unreal!!   And the vocal harmonies on the last chorus.....so much feeling :-) ps just went back and listened to it.....this song is on another level....it's really up there with "Who Knew" and their other top, top quality songs. The drumming is great too -- Steve Wolf, who played on "Girlfriend" among others.........

Yeah, this one's special... almost doesn't feel like a typical Max melody to me. I remember listening to this daily for a good six months or so. I'm gonna have to make a playlist of just their rock stuff now!

I agree with you guys....this song is a SPECIAL SONG

Rebecca

I love all these songs! My favourite are George's first 2.

I think it's because the structure of this style of song is so simple, it has to be all about soaring melodies over perfectly picked chords, otherwise there's little else to focus on. To me, Max's original pop style and this rock style are still his strongest eras by far. Now it feels like he's lost his direction a bit and is just doing a bit of everything, but not too many songs are sticking out from the crowd.
