I wasn't sure which thread to put this in but anyway, I was just having a read on bsbweirdworld.com BSB's fanclub and there was a thread re a Brian interview in In Rock magazine and he was saying that there is no Max Martin songs on their new album. Apparently they called Max and he never returned their calls, he didn't want to work with BSB.
Pretty disappointing hey?
I guess Max wants work with new people now, which is fair enough.
I'm still really looking forward to Backstreet Boys new album anyway.
Here is the translated interview on LiveDaily:
http://talk.livedaily.com/showthread.php?t=569502
I guess we gotta believe it.
Thanks for the link. That was a interesting read, and I am really surprised about this. Can't imagine why Max isn't even talking or answering them, I could have imagined they all became quite good friends. Weird. And it doesn't seemt like they work with another Swedish songwriters, which put me off the anticipation for the new album to be honest.
I wish we could ask Max what is his version about this.
I guess the Dan they work with is Dan Muckala, who wrote "Incomplete", what do you think?
I think That it is impossible ...??
Nooooooo is impossible for me. Why max doesn't answer to the bsb???? It's very strange. or the news isn't correct or probably from max and the BSB there's a serious problem.
Yeah, I'm pretty devastated about this. I'm still a BSB fan and still can't wait for their album, but yeah it has taken the edge off slightly.
Yeah, I think the Dan is Dan Muckala.
The thing is I remember another thread on bsbweirdworld and one of the Finland fans spoke to Rami and he told them that the songs were going to be more like Black & Blue and that they won't disappoint the fans. And I thought they went to Sweden to record. But Brian never mentioned Rami in that interview.
Perhaps Max just wants to work with debut artists mainly now?
but then he wrote for Avril Lavigne, it really doesn't make sense.
i'm a bit skeptical about this news... however I hope they'll work with rami and carlsson!
Yeah, i'm not sure wether to believe much of that or not. Gutted if it is true. But i doubt it very much. Not only is he a brilliant producer, he is also i think a very clever business man. And for him the Bsb's are some of the best business he could do. I remember in the hype that started to build before the last bsb album that they said one of the things that convinced them to do the album was the fact that Max had contacted them directly and told them he really wanted them to record a couple of songs that he'd written and produced especially for them. For a producer of his stature to write and produce anything specifically for a band that werent even functioning, says a lot about how highly i think he rates the bsb's.
Personally i will be so disappointed if there isn't something on this new album by the swedes.......Siberia part2 would be ideal!
Do we have any idea of a release date?
I asked rami at my space about bsb and the new album...
he said
unfortunately we are not involved in the album...maybe its a little chance that we do something in the end , but that chance are not big....
unfortunately he write.........
so sorry bsb without max and rami is not bsb
Quote from: "Rebecca"Perhaps Max just wants to work with debut artists mainly now?

I doubt he wrote
for Avril. He wrote a bunch of songs together with Lukasz which Lukasz recorded with Avril in the end.
Don't think when writing a song they know who it's for or who is gonna perform it later.
Just look at "...Baby One More Time" <==> TLC (to name just one example).
jules i agree with you.....you have a good point
Hey Nicky thanks for asking Rami, it was nice of Rami to reply to you even thought it's with bad news. At least we know definitely now.
Hey Jules, yep, good point, I had forgotten about that. makes sense now.
I'm still looking forward to the BSB album, I was sad all yesterday but then I remembered how much I love most of the unreleased tracks from Never Gone which has no Max Martin/Rami.
I don't know a release date.
I just wish other Max Martin/Rami could hurry up and be released.
I Would like to know really why they don't work with Max Martin..
same here.. its very sad
My jaw dropped when I heard....
To be honest, I'm not too upset by the news. I didn't like Just Want You To Know, but I loved Climbing The Walls (despite the fact that the final mix was crappy), but I dont think he has much to offer Backstreet this time around. His sound seems to have changed too much to suit Backstreet Boys anymore. I was hoping Rami would be working with them at least though. Oh well, I have heard some of the new songs and I'm pleasantly surprised by them.

For the record, BSB were tipped off by management, who were tipped off by Clive Davis, who knew Max had a song written for Audioslave (Climbing The Walls), that he thought they'd sound great on. And so began the pop/rock venture.

I wouldn't have minded even if Max had just given them another Climbing The Walls or I Still.
I'm really glad the new BSB songs are good - I can't wait. I almost don't want to hear any leaks, just wait and be surprised.
Interesting, I didn't know "Climbing the walls" was actually for Audioslave.
For me it was the best song on the album, and should really have been single nr. 2.
Yes, that is true, Climbing the Walls was written for the Spiderman 2 movie soundtrack and offered to Audioslave, they rejected if for being 'too pop' (how dare they? haha ) then Clive Davis thought it would be perfect for Backstreet Boys and so set it aside which then of course led them to recording more songs with Max.
The lyrics are so clever - 'caught by the taste of your kiss' 'you're under my skin' and of course 'climbing the walls'. Perfect.
I thought it should have been a single too except that it's so great to have a secret fantastic song that the album buyers can enjoy.

I agree. I think it should've been first maybe even, like the original plan was. They lost it with JWYTK as their 2nd single.
Oh, btw, I don't know where this piece of info fits on the forums, but I guess I'll mention it here: I asked Crichlow what the song was that he did for Backstreet, that didn't make "Black & Blue", and it's called: "Don't Make It Harder Than It Is". I guess Max barred him from submitting new songs for BSB after that whole dispute over writing credits of (I believe), Show Me The Meaning

oh, very very interesting! I wonder if that song was ever released even with someone else singing it??
I actually didn't realise that Herbie and Max had a dispute over Show Me The Meaning - hmm interesting.

Don't quote me on the song they had a dispute over, or even if it was a song, because I am pretty sure that I heard there was a conflict between them on what happened to Denniz's stuff, after he died, and that was in an interview with Herbie, so...
But anyway...
Yeah, I asked him if there was some sort of demo for me to hear, he ignored that question twice, so I guess it's not meant to be.. Haha..

Here is a performance of "I want it that way" - Backstreet Boys in Germany with comedian Stefan Raab who sings the part of Kevin :)

Ah ah ah ah ;D fantastic video.
Thank's turnaround.

Yeah, it's an old thread :)

thanks Turnaround, I watched it a few times. It's awesome. Stefan Raab is a pretty good singer. There's no way that song couldn't sound fantastic though.
You're welcome, I am happy they still sing in it the old style with the old feelings.
And the music was live too, quite lovely to hear their voices again and they still have fun with it.
It is really their biggest hit and signature song.
The middle 8 is just worldclass and the trumpets make it sound very nice.
Stefan Raab already has been at the Eurovision Song Contest, was pretty funny. :)
Anyone heard BSB's "Unmistakable"? it's euro pop sounding. Adam Anders and Dan Muckala did it. It's pretty catchy.
here's a clip of it

Thanks for the link, though I will restrain myself from listening to it. I'm going to wait until I own the cd - not long now!
I really want to hear Max doing some songs for the artists who really introduced max to me ((britney , BsB )) but like someone said he have nothin' new to offer to the BsB , and I'm really excited about this album I think it would be better than Never Gone , I know it will
yeah unexpected,(Britney and B.S.B),are the singers who made me interested,in max martin music, and i think max martin name became very known thanks to his work with them, when u think about max martin music, the first names came to ur mind are (Britney and B.S.B).
OMG the album has leaked and even though I am only half way through so far I have to say it is amazing!! Well done BSB this is a really really great pop album. It's a bit of a mixture of the old sound and Never Gone (although it's about 10 times better than NG for me). A real shame Max didn't want to contribute to this album - it's my favourite pop album of the year so far!! (At least until Britney's album leaks in full :D) What does everyone else think of it???
I'm so glad you find the album amazing - I'm really excited now. I haven't listened to any leaked songs yet, was worried I'd be disappointed.
The new album don´t impress me much, listen to a few songs and clips. I really want the shayne ward and westlife album out now.....

I don´t like this at all, can´t understand why?
??? ??? ??? >:(
i think even if backstreet boys didn't work with max martin or any of the cheiron team for that album, but they found another way to came up with good music,we shouldn't blame them for that,as long as the music is good.
unmistakable is good.....i like the intro.

My version has 2 extra tracks.... track one is a really good intro where the boys sound amazing and track 17 is called Nowhere To Go, which is a cool song.
You can't blame the boys for not having any of the original team on the album. They repeatedly tried to contact Max for songs for the new album and he just ignored their calls. If anything Max is to blame for that. Don't get me wrong I love Max and he is my musical hero, but I think it was pretty bad of him to snub them after they helper him have so much success early on in his career. I suppose he had his reasons but since he is such an enigma I guess we'll probably never know.
The album is just Amazing , who cares they worked with max or not , the album is good ((better than britney's album))

agree with u
'Downpour' should've been on all versions of the album! Very catchy! Reminds me of an I'm Not Sleeping Alone' a bit in the chorus. Good power mid/ballad
In Pieces is another one that has a very catchy chorus
Something That I Already Know is just amazing. The chorus is immense and to me does have that Swedish sound in the structure of the melody, plus the key change chorus at the end gives me goose bumps.
I just really don't like the vocals of AJ on the verses (Something That I Already Know), and I dont like the melody of "if you would only let me go" in the chorus of it.
ok who said that they was trying to talk to max and that he ignore them? You can´t bealive in everything you read here at the internet. I am happy for everyone who like the new album, but there is something missing...
It's a solid pop album with a bit of an edge but I also miss the Swedish magic.

it wont sell as big as brit's album though :P
regardless of how britney's album good or bad,i think if the album will sell it is because her fans want to show support more than anything else.
i have been on britney fansites and forums, and i hear that every fan will buy more than one copy of the album...that means they want to make her sell much no matter what, its a good thing from them cuz she needs her fans support.
and backstreet boys album is one of the best albums this year no matter how much it will sell,it has great melodies and great productions too,
i'm impressed with them...after all these years they still can harmonize together,it makes me feel like they were born to sing together in one band.
I bought the BSB album yesterday - I love it, the songs are a little samey to me, but still I'm really enjoy listening to it. It's just so exciting to have another BSB album!
Of course I miss that there is no Max/Rami though.
I prefer it to Britney's album at this point but I've only listened to her album once so will listen to her cd more and see.
ok I like break the ice and pieces of me but after that, the rest is really bad...But i hope Britney will be back on the charts
Britney's album isn't half-bad but it's not amazing either. I like "Heaven on Earth" a lot.
me too i like''heaven on earth''but i don't like the rest .
this is the song I Hate The most!^^
In this album I love the song SOMETHING I ALREADY KNOW.
Max Martin Style.
I saw the video for the new single "Helpless when she smiles" and both the song and the video are pretty boring I must say. :(

Yeah, the video is a little boring - but I love it anyway. I like the song but I didn't think it should be a single. Nearly every other song on the album would have been a better choice. This single won't do well. I think they should have released Treat Me Right. I love the album.
Helpless When She Smileslike 2nd single?
I'm really surprise. I like this song but it's not one of my favourites.
I think they should have released ANY OTHER WAY or SOMETHING I ALREADY KNOW.
Any Other Way would have been a great choice!
Oh my God,on wikipedia nick said the 3 single will be Everything But Mine..... :'(
I can't believe they're already talking about 3rd single - maybe they know Helpless When She Smiles won't do well so better release another one.
I'm listening to Everything But Mine - I really like it, may be an odd choice for a single though.

Yep, one of my favorites too, but I'd prefer Any Other Way to be next.
Any Other Way and In Pieces - my most favorites. Seems like album feels not so good by its sales. Choice for the second single sounded for me like a joke. You know, I think the album is really good, loads of nice and catchy tunes, but actually I can't imagine which song can be strong single.

the album is good but.......it was obvious that this album will not sell good, cuz there is no demand on the music they did on that album, there are even people laughed and said they still doing kids and teen music.
true BSB are not singing songs that are in todays style, which I'm happy about.
I'm surprised people have said that they are still doing teen music. The music seems more Adult Contemporary.
Yeah, there is really no song that could be a strong single. Second choice of single is a mistake.

Yeah, I agree Ahmed. even Max's with most poppiest songs there is still something clever about them not just silly songs for kids. People like to make fun of Backstreet Boys!
Never Gone sold 11 Milions copy with Max like producer.
Unbreakable sold 1,5 milions copy.
Big difference.
Where did you get your sales figures Alex?
I actually thought Never Gone sold a lot less than that, but it's pretty good if it was 11million
Yeah, Unbreakable has not been doing well, that's for sure. I love it but it's not as good as Never Gone.

oh wow, thanks Alex
11million is fantastic for Never Gone
and 1.5 million is still okay for Unbreakable.
They're never going to go back to their Millennium days of selling 28 million!
look guys I'm not a fan of numbers that much , but 11 million for never gone is no way , the album was kind of flop , it only sold 1.5 million in the US , so from where the other 9.5 million came from???
40 milions MILLENNIUM!!!
Recently, there had been a rumour that Jive would drop the BSB due to their disappointing sales. I actually think ther's is a problem now with the BSB. Their songs don't fit enough the public's expectations and the choice of singles is poor. "Any other way" is a very strong song and should have been the 2nd single IMO! By the way, the second main problem is due to the loss of one member...Now their voices don't blend as well as before. If you listen closely to their songs, you can hear the difference! :( .....and if we consider our beloved Cheiron producers used to sing in their songs too during the chorus. You can say what you want, but Max's voice sounded GREAT in a chorus, espiically when it was mixed with Nana Hedin's.. I'm thinking about Britney's songs. Even if Britney's voice was "mundane", the whole vocals sounded just WOW! Max knew where he wanted the song to go and they spent hours in the studio trying to add rheir own vocals here and there to make it sound perfect....
I think they can solve their problems releasing 'something that i already know' as a single... awesome song... 8)

Yes Ahmed people have always described Cheiron productions as a teen-ie productions, songs that actually made for teenagers..ever when Britney once interviewd and was asked why did she stop working with the same poducers she worked with, she responded "I am more grown up now,I am 20 years old I want the world to see that I m no longer the teenager",when I heard that I was like "Oh well..these teenage songs GOT u to where U are now",although I don't really see Cheiron peroduction to Britney, Backstreet Boys and N Sync are childish...I really think the songs they made for them are so damn unique and sooo great lyrically and musically!!..although their music sounds similar,I mean they used the same instruments on their songs, but it is GREAT,if Britney had given herself the chance to work with them,Max would have invented a new pop as he did in 1998 all the way to 2001/02... u can notice the huge development musically!!
Back to Backstreet's topic...well, Sadly I guess Backstreet Boys are a complete flop...they actually couldn't make it with both their album and 2 singles...I personally see that Everything But Mine will be a waste of time and money!!!,and No Way Jive kicks them out, because they are huge and will make it again someday...remember Mariah Carey's flop era???

you know Suhail , We have the same thoughts so I tottaly agree on what you said
Yeah, I have been thinking that BSB might lose their record contract with Jive. I think this is the last album on their contract so it will be interesting if their contract is renewed. Hopefully even if they do lose it, they will get a record contract with someone else or maybe they could finance one themselves - they have probably made enough money to do that.
Bad single choices for sure!

Inconsolable was great , even everything but mine , I think helpless when she smiles is not a single worthy , after the flop of inconsolable the shoulld've wen with something more poppier maybe (everything but mine) , I don't know , all I know the album is really good ,
I really hope they will go back to their roots and come to Sweden again to record some proper popsongs.
I still can't get over they didn't release "Climbing the walls", for me it was the best song with "Siberia" on the album.
Same for Kelly Clarkson. No Max, no hitsingle.
but what do you guys think of Any Other way? It may not be so awesome but it has some potential to be a single! By the way, Turnaround, I totally agree...Siberia and Climbing the walls were my 2 favorite tracks! such a pity they didn't release it!!!! -___-
Siberia is THE MOST UNDERATED piece of work that was done by anyone who was involved with cheiron at anytime from early 90's until present. Sometimes that is the only song i listen to all day. I will never tire of anything about that song!!!! That song should have been released, and along with good marketing, it would have brought a turn back to brilliant pop, DR luke and Take That can't do it all on there own!!!!! Hey Max, give us both, the hard edge pop, and the good old stuff, i think many people believe it is timeles, and all good music is timeless!!! 'Drowning' is as old as my nephew, but it aint lost anything during its 6 years of existence------anyone else get my point????
Agree about Any Other Way. I think it would be the best choice for single.
Yes Drowning is an EXCELLENT song! But it doesn't involve Max, does it? The cd sleeve reads produced by Rami/Andreas Carlsson/Linda Thomson. By the way, do you have details on her? What else did she produce?
And Malcolm, i definitely agree with you! Music is like fashion...you just gotta pick old stuff and make them sound slightly different... For example, I'd like to see Britney back to her old pop, let's say Oops style! I wonder how it would do... in any case, couldn't be worse than where she is now...:(
i agree with u sabine, i wish to see Britney doing her old pop with Max Martin, i'm sure we love what they will come up together.
i believe Britney was born to sing Max Martin music and that is the music that is suitable for her.
i wish Britney work with Max Martin again.
I wish both Backstreet and Britney go back to the way they have launched their career from (Swedish Pop),but believe me guys everybody will make fun of them....
I believe something which is (Max can do POP as he used to) but no-one asked him to re-do/re-invent this music....I am pretty sure of it!!
I keep saying Max, i really mean cheiron, i know that Drowning wasn't the work of Max. But i really think that he forced the direction that cheiron went in even before Denniz died, i'm sure he was fundamental in creating the frame work that most of the music follows, both in lyrical direction, musical theory, production value, production technique and instrumentation. I see Max alomost as the Svengali that is behind everything that is/was cheiron, and all the various fragments that it has grown to be.
I was re-listening to Drowning.. and I forgot how much i adore that song
I would kill to hear another Drowning-type song from them... :|
