Every now and then I realize I have a soft spot for country music.
What I love about country music: Lots of feeling in the songs, often clever and bitter-sweet lyrics and great voices.
I am waiting for the new Lady Antebellum album as I really like their hits as "Need you now".
Another song I currently love is "Crash my party" by Luke Bryan.
Somehow this song touches me.

Don't know if the video works.
Also the country ladies Reba McEntire, Kristin Chenoweth, Sara Evans often have songs that really get me.
Any other country lovers here? :)

Yes!! :D I go in and out of it, and usually don't pay it much attention (but I really believe that's mainly because I grew up in the Northeast of US, where you're indoctrinated with pop from birth), but sometimes I get really into it. I love "Need You Now", will check out "Crash My Party". I know it's a while ago, but I bought Carrie Underwood's first CD and wore it out --even bought a copy for a musician friend of mine. What amazed me is that there aLOT of songs on that CD, and every single one of them was a knockout, including in the musicianship!
Carrie Underwood, also a great vocalist. Of course "Quitter" is one of my favourite songs. But she also has other great stuff.
I really like the arrangement of "Crash my party", the drums are so addicting. And the sing-a-long chorus, guitar-solo. Actually I love everything about it. 8)
The lyrics are cheesy but in my opinion heartfelt.

I listened -- liked it, but I was surprised with that title it wasn't more up-tempo :-) The piano intro hook is great, and actually my favorite part is that sort of instrumental breakdown where that hook comes back at the end -- that got me emotionally.....went well with the lyrics, where are telling her she's more important than gettin drunk with the guys :D
i like country... it makes me feel great when i hear it.
here in sweden its unknown i think..
Yesssss! I also go in and out, I went through a phase back in 2007 where it was almost all I listened to. We have a country music channel on cable down here, and I used to think it was a bit of a joke until one I day I actually stopped to listen and was hooked. That Luke Bryan song is lovely, and I agree the piano hook is the best part, it's haunting.
Some of my faves:
Tim McGraw - "When The Stars Go Blue" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hyidx_U9k6E (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hyidx_U9k6E)

Really? I've seen a few Swedish movies where country music featured heavily, so I figured it was quite popular over there.

I think you have a nice swedish Shania Twain-ish singer called Jill Johnson. :)
Will listen to all the songs Joshua posted later :D
My favourite Keith Urban song is "You'll think of me". Fabulous lyrics.

Oh I love that one too!
I have to admit that for every country song I like, there are probably half a dozen that I don't. Those uptempo country/rock "let's drive our trucks and get drunk and show the ladies a good time" kind of tracks don't do much for me.
lol. This is excactly how I feel. There are many artists like Rascal Flatts, Lonestar etc. I love their ballads, but I skip almost every uptempo song. I know the "regular" country fans want to hear these" but for me it's all about the ballads. :-[
I'm also a sucker for a good country ballad :) I got a bit more into the whole country scene when I was in Las Vegas for a couple of days during the National Finals Rodeo and you literally couldn't get away from this sound ::)
Some of my favourite tunes are:
Brad Paisley - Then: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbGoK5RlD68 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbGoK5RlD68)
Caitlin & Will - Adress in the stars: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov9j4vaaLI0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov9j4vaaLI0)
Collin Raye - Little Rock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cX74rp1xq6g (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cX74rp1xq6g)
Lee Ann Womack - I hope you Dance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RV-Z1YwaOiw (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RV-Z1YwaOiw)
Rascal Flatts - What hurts the most: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qH4qyi1-Ys (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qH4qyi1-Ys) (all time favourite!!)
Tyler Farr - Redneck Crazy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYXHS3OWdKo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYXHS3OWdKo) (despite the terrible title...)
I think I like all the songs in this thread. The "Crash my party" album has been released an it is good. Don't be put off by the fact there are two songs with "beer" in the title. It's obv a theme album.
Have been obsessed with this lately and its only a snippet!
And to top if off, Benny Blanco and Ammar Malik were involved with writing this. Produced by Stargate.
Keith Urban - Shame

Cant wait for his album
There's a lot of great contemporary country sounds, starting with Taylor Swift as a major exponent of the new musicians doing country.
I really love this one, the lyrics are so well written:
Kacey Musgraves - Merry Go 'Round

And God Gave Me You is AMAZING.
But I think the original version by Dave Barnes is way better.
Both of those Keith clips are seriously good, as usual. It's like he's really a catchy pop/rock artist adding a country vibe simply by his vocal style and some of the instruments used.
This is seriously great.

There's an instagram with music memes. So much fun.
They laugh a lot about male country singers, pretty much all the same.
Same songs, same hunky body type, same type of voice, such a cliché.
Oh please send the link to this. Sounds hilarious. I hate songs when they are about beer.

Check the likes. Katy Perry and LOTS of established songwriters comment on these memes.
Some of them are WAY funny. Love that account.

It makes sense, because country music sounds very much like latin pop ballads.
But his spanish pronounciation is very bad.
Always about alcohol :D

Shane McAnally is the Country Max Martin.
He's beyond talented. But the thing with country music is that everything sound pretty much the same.
Nice song by Luke Combs "What you see is what you get"
