These guys really are fast with releasing new albums.
I am pretty sure we have Savan/Rami/Carl again involved. So far not too much is official but from Monday on the album can be pre-ordered.
gotta milk their fan demographic before they grow up hehe
Smart, they know if they take the smallest break it could cause fans to "grow up" and go through the stages of not liking them anymore. It happens in a heartbeat.
Must be that time of the year again!
They don't even write their hits, so it's only A&R work to get proper material to record every year.
And it's all about marketing: release an album every year and earn millions of dollars worldwide.
According to Savan, Niall is quite talented. So maybe he they will co-write again on this.

It sounds good , Great pop song. It reminds to me a bit to ''Amanda'' of Jimmy Jansson.
Not bad at all, I could hear Westlife doing something like this back in the day.

Lol their covers are so boring but the girls will be pleased with it.
They're slowly but surely starting to look more mature, right on track.
They're slowly but surely - ALLOWED* - to look more mature, right on track.
I can see the future: two more albums per year, end of contract, split and solo careers of Zayn and Harry Styles...

3 albums 3 years in a row. Its nice to see that shit hasn't hit the fan yet. NSYNC stopped after 4 albums if you include the Christmas album, and BSB went on a break after 4/5 albums if you include Chapter 1.
I also think that Zayn and Harry at some point will go solo.

Yeah agreed on Harry or Zayn (or both) going solo. I'd say the only reason they've managed three albums is because of the rush release schedule, nothing more.

I'm liking these guys more and more!

I just meant it's all tactics ...of course they become more mature with the years but the label sure has some concepts how they should grow up
My opinion, I think the Wanted should be way more popular than One Direction.

Oh I agree, that's why I said they're right on track. Album number three and they're starting to grow up, it's how these things go. But who would have it any other way!?! :D
Khan, The Wanted have really grown on me in the last twelve months, I agree they should be as big if not bigger. I guess having 1D around means they'll never get the younger demographic who buy merchandise on such a huge scale. BSB and 'NSync didn't really have any younger bands to compete with who were as big.
Speaking of covers - here is the single cover:

These covers aren't worth single posts actually. They're just boring. Unless you're a fangirl ...
I'm more interested in the credits to be honest.
Thought so anyway :D
ONLY *ONE* CHEIRON SONG ON THE NEW ALBUM!!!! :( :'(

Why aren't they working with Rami anymore?!?!
I really don't get it. Jules, do you know anything behind this?
Basically the 1D sound was created by Savan Rami and Carl.
Haven't they written more songs for this albm or have the others been rejected??
I think they want a more "mature sound". I think this album will be more diverse or stripped down. I just hope it's not a clusterfvck.

One song doesn't make the whole album. Besides, it does sound edgier in my opinion.

This sounds so like Ryan Tedder!!
Their ballads are always boring...
I knew something like that was coming
The song sounds a bit average , I think it's the end from them.

Yeah that's the reason why they're so short but the dryness is a non-language thing, I just like it :D

The new single sounds horrible. Booooo

Sorry, but I love this already. So simple and folk-ish.
Hmmmmmm, I'm missing some highlights/explosions besides the chorus but I like the tension that's all over the song
The similarities to Bonfire Heart are hilarious
Full it sounds better but not amazing for me.
It's just a thing from the moment. Everyone's doing it: Avicci, Pitbull, now them. Taking the country, folk stuff and mixing it with pop.
It may sound more "grown up", but at the same time it just sounds regular. It's a nice pop tune, nothing more, nothing less, but absolutely nothing special. It's missing all the catchy-ness (which for example "Best Song Ever" had, even without being a CHEIRON song!).
I think it's a really nice song, but not good enough for a single.
And here is the video:
http://www.unrealitytv.co.uk/x-factor/one-directions-story-of-my-life-video-leaked/
Brilliant idea, and I think it's their best ballad to date.
Apparently the album has been leaked.
And iTunes (Japan) have released "Diana" as a buzz-single. Really like it.
The album leaked, it's confirmed because I'm already listening to it.
And there's one Carl Falk+Rami song: Happily.
And I'm shocked, there's a Jacknife Lee + Gary Lightbody collabo with Harry Styles... and Ryan Tedder, and lots of Jamie Scott -don't know who he is- and Julian Bunetta.
Happily is just Carl Falk, Savan Kotecha, and Harry Styles as Carl just tweeted. I'm surprised they went from so many tracks on the first two albums with Rami, Carl, Savan and then Kristian and Shellback to just one track.
"Happily" was co-produced by Kristian Lundin! <3 :D

Do you know why they have just the one track??
Jamie Scott wrote some cool tracks for 1D.
"More than this" and "Stole my heart" are fab pop songs.
Is "Happily" any good?

I heard the album and It was a bit disappointing , I only Liked ''Right now''(Ryan tedder) , ''Happily'' and ''Little white lies''(Ed Drewett , Wayne Hector) in the first listen , ''Story of my life'' has grown in me so much too.
''Happily''(Carl , Savan , Lundin song) is good but not amazing , maybe a Grower.
It sounds like a compact album but not like something that you want hear again.
Diana is so good. I like the verses a lot. They sound so different. So simple.
And the chorus is explosive. Pure bubble-gum pop. More of these please.

Yes , I forgot this one , I liked it too and the first single that is a grower.
Yes, Diana is so coool, bubble-pop drug! One of their best songs for me...I'm totally addicted
It's so Rami-sh
Best Song Ever and the latest single have definitely grown on me. Songwriting and production wise it's still up to par with Rami and Falk even if it sounds more stripped down and less melody driven sometimes.
This album has more lyrical content, I feel.
What I love the most about One Direction's music is how the production captures a musical influence perfectly. On "Best Song Ever" you could some 90's grunge rock elements, on "Diana" you can hear the 80's influence. In their earlier songs you could hear the Cheiron influence perfectly coupled with some 60's rock influences. You can even hear some Queen influences in some of their songs.
It's very well executed. It's pure pop music.
One Direction, Associated Performer, Main Artist, Associated Performer - Savan Kotecha, Composer, Lyricist, Recording Engineer - Carl Falk, Acoustic Guitar, Composer, Electric Guitar, Lyricist, Other, Producer, Programmer - Chris Patrick, Bass Guitar - Harry Styles, Composer, Lyricist - Ilya Toshinsky, Banjo, Mandolin - Kristian Lundin, Editor, Producer, Recording Engineer - Alex Oriet, Engineer - Ben "Bengineer" Chang, Engineer - Serban Ghenea, Mixing Engineer - John Hanes, Engineer - Tom Coyne, Mastering Engineer
Harry plays guitar?
Yes, quite interesting. I think you have to be very good to please the producer recording the instruments. And when the recording engineer and producer is Kristian Lundin I guess you have to be REALLY REALLY good.

Honestly... I have to slightly disagree here. Although most of our favorite NEW writers use some sort of starting point as an influence, it seams like the one direction stuff is more blatantly ripped off. Which is more GIMICKY in my opinion. Take for example, BEST SONG EVER, which is a blatant ripp off of the Whos's Baba o'riley. Or their other song that started out just like We will rocke you by Queen (One directions song: Rock me). Or... Live While we're young which is basically a sped up version of The Clash's "Should I stay or Should I Go." I mean, dont get me wrong, these are good songs and everyone "borrows" influences (EVERYONE!)... but sometimes its a little too over the top. Especially for how damn talented their songwriting and producing teams are.
Just my two cents.

Absolutely agree with you.
I read a review on a local newspaper and they said this album was like, The Beatles.
The Beatles did some really pop-formula driven albums to increase their fanbase and ended up doing their stuff after that.
I was expecting other kind of stuff -I haven't listened the album in full- but to me, seems like some of the songs in the album could be placed on indie records easily: Little Black Dress is a perfect example.
Definitely not what I expected.

I do agree with you that it's "gimicky", but I don't think it has anything to do with the level of talent of their producers/writers. Look at the demographic of their fan base, the answer is there. One Direction's music is supposed to be straight to the point, so the references to past legendary songs reflect that.
I still think that even though it's blatantly ripped of, it's pretty well executed and it doesn't sound like shit. God knows how many times songs have been ripped off and it sounds like crap. My point was more regarding the execution rather than the originality and creativity that derives from it.
Just saw this randomly and realized it's today :-) http://www.bmi.com/news/entry/twitter_qa_with_one_direction_bmi_songwriter_and_producer_julian_bunetta_as
Still interested if Falk/Kotecha/Rami didn't have any more songs for that release or if they got rejected.
I had some listens through that album and I'm quite indifferent about it. It's ok, it's pure pop with a rocky edge here and then - but so far there is no other song aside "Story of my life" and "Diana" which I really feel.
Even "Happily" is quite soulless. Uninspired pre-chorus, only saved by the chorus.
I need a few more listens as I can't recall all songs as they are very samey - but that's not a surprise for an 1D album.
I think it may have been a combination of 1D moving away from Rami-Carl-Savan, the 3 of them burned out by writing for them, and having songs rejected.
Makes sense!
But what is next? These guys have such a creative output, this has to go somewhere and needs to be heard.
:-[
In other news: "Through the dark" is definitely worth a listen too.
"Now we are NINE Direction" lol :D http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/videos/anchorman-cast-faces-off-against-one-direction-on-snl-20131208
Next single is "Midnight Memories"
Maybe we get a B-Side?
Next single is "You and I" and they release a new version of the song:
