@CassadeePope
A 10 hour day in the studio has been completed. Now I can check working with Max Martin off of my bucket list. :-D
Winner of The Voice Season 3.
I don't know her but a Max Martin is always good :) also great to hear she really likes him!! :)
Expecting for new great songs!
sounds good, looking forward to her hearing the songs.
Cassadee Pope, winner of The Voice US season3, tweets that she is working with Max!!
From @CassadeePope>>"A 10 hour day in the studio has been completed. Now I can check working with Max Martin off of my bucket list. :-D"
And it is said the song is called "Easier to lie" in this site http://www.mjsbigblog.com/cassadee-pope-kicks-off-country-radio-tour-debuts-new-music-video.htm
I'm so excited about this! I really like her voice ;D ;D

It sounds really good.
thanks, the song sounds great.
The chorus is similar to Get It Over With by 5 Star Nation 8)
This sounds like it's going to be great... I've been missing my Max pop/rock, and pop/country is probably as close as I'm going to get. Interesting to think that this is how Taylor's collaboration could've turned out, had she wanted it that way.
who is casede pop?
She's the winner of the voice US season3 and the former lead singer in the band called 'Hey Monday'. ;)

Have you seen this? It's a Max Martin+Shellback+Savan Kotecha song.
I remember people talking about one song on Christina Aguilera's Lotus called "Easier To Lie". If you search on ASCAP, the song is registered to the writers, but the song ended up being recorded by Cassadee's upcoming album.
How would have sound this on Christina's voice? Do you know about any other Max Martin's song "rejected" by A&R's that ended up on other artists' album?
Thanks!
I remember we were talking once that she worked with Max.
Glad that we have another country song by Max and Shellback.
Really like the track!
From the Cassadee site:
QuoteEasier To Lie is an amazing song! Whats cool about it is that is was actually pitched to Christina Aguilera for her Lotus album and she didn't use it. I cannot wait until the album comes out to hear what Cassadee and Max Martin did with this track! Hope its a single because it will KILL on radio!
The song sounds great , amazing melodies.

Yeah I think we talked about this in another thread, but I'm really in love with the song, I can't wait for the studio version. This is the kind of thing I'd love to hear more of from Max. Would love to hear how they originally intended the track to be for Christina, minus the country arrangement.
I liked it but will judge properly when I hear the studio version!
To me, sounds a bit like Lesley Roy's Unbeautiful. And I love that one.
Found the old thread and merged it. So nothing gets lost :)
"Easier to Lie" is exactly the type of country music I love so much. Max and Shellback must also have a soft spot for country. They always deliver a fantastic track when they try the genre.

Good comparison to another great track, this would've fit on Lesley's album quite nicely.

I think the guys (Max especially) can pull of a melancholy ballad so well that it could fit into just about any genre and sound amazing, but yeah they really know how to produce the harmonies and instruments to suit as well.

5ive didn't take things too seriously back then and rejected "Bye, Bye, Bye". The rest is history!
I can't imagine Christina Aguilera singing "Easier to lie". And if yes then in a very different arrangement.

Rihanna passed on "DJ Got Us Fallin In Love"..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrfTVaVhbNU
The demo is a whole step higher than Ushers version, which makes sense since it was intended for a girl!
And "Since U Been Gone" was rejected by Pink and Hilary Duff..
I think it was a good move to reject DJ Got Us Fallin In Love, it doesn't suit Rihanna's voice or style.
And I had no idea about 5ive rejecting Bye Bye Bye!
Well, seems like Cassadee Pope's A&R is doing a good job with her. And they have a proper budget to afford Max Martin songs...
About swedes doing country, I think it's just the arrangements: you can produce a song in almost every genre, it depends on the instruments you use to build the arrangements...
And Since U Been Gone should have sound amazing on P!nk's raspy voice. They should do a whole album together.
Let's make a thread for rejected songs written by Max or Cheiron guys.
Some of you guys are gonna hate me for this, but there are some Max Martin songs that I quite dislike... like Miranda Cosgrove's "Oh Oh".
The guitars sounds like the middle 8 of Britney's 3.
You Hear a song is the new single apparently. It has a "Breakaway" feel to it.
She's been playing some songs of the album already on small venues.
This is the new single: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwUQCSVPt6U
And this is one of my favourites, sounds like a Taylor Swift song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKnRDrk4MMg
11 is out now. And I really like it.
The album is out in three days and already leaked.
There are no streaming yet and I'm already listening.
Sounds really good, like a poppier version of country with soft synths and drum programming and banjos and these typical country steel guitars.
It's co-produced by Shellback & Max Martin.
But I think I Wish I Could Break Your Heart is way better.
Listening through the album. "Easier to lie" is fabulous. I simply love it. Lush production too.
''Easier to lie'' is amazing!! What a melody! , I love it.
Definitely a good song, I just love the chorus! I want a pop version of it.
I love this song,perfect melody.
Well done MAX,another amazing masterpiece

Am I the only one that's not really feeling it?

Maybe not :D
Frame by Frame debuted at #9 on the Billboard 200 and also debuted atop the Top Country Albums chart,
Well done Max and Cassedee
I can't even imagine this being sung by Christina Aguilera... with a pop sound.
didnt like this one so much at all
The song is alright, I actually don't really like the lyrics to be honest. Probably because I'm bitter towards people who cheat and lie.
Melodically, I mean... it's pretty decent, but I feel like I've heard those melodies before. Production wise, same thing...sounds like a classic country radio song.
And her vocals are sweet but nothing to write home about.
Meh...maybe it'll grow on me one day.
I recommend this beautiful live version:

Isn't she a beauty?

Wow, just wow.
When producers say it can take weeks mastering a song is to make the vocals (and everything else) don't sound as raw as they are in this demo?
The instrumental seems like it was already ahead in volume of work than the vocals.
There's a lot of multiple voices in the chorus, something not very noticeable in the other Christina songs made by Max and Shellback, it reminds me of the vocal arrangements they did for Adele.
I find it strange that a Max / Shellback song has only 33K views on her official YT. Looks like they also have misses as Max once long ago said. Btw a strong melody in the chorus, but it didn't help. There probably must be something else in the song besides the strong melody to attract listeners' attention. Hooks, arrangement, mood etc but Max went the simple route this time probably on purpose.

Might have to do with publiciity, but I don't know in this specific case. If the label decides not to promote it any longer while the album is ready to be released, then it's going to be difficult. An example of that is Lesley Roy's album, which Max executive produced. Jive was taken over by another record label and they decided to drop the album. Very good album with hidden gems but if the power of marketing behind it is gone, then it becomes difficult.
Record labels are still very relevant for artists to become mainstream, albeit that a bunch of people have the belief that the ability to drop songs on spotify and youtube they can do it by themselves. Let them think so, I wish them good luck if it isn't hiphop that they are trying to do it with.
If a good commercially appealing song without a strong mktg effort ends up as a flop, does that suggest that mktg is more important than a good song. I wonder what would happen if an artist releases five strong songs without marketing, will they all flop or will the listeners tind the way to them. Equally, if some artist releases five average crafted songs backed by the strong top label marketing, do they have more chances to become hits than the first five mentioned songs. I also wonder what would be the destiny of Cheiron-based BSB and N'Sync songs if the gang wasn't supported by the label mktg that well, and if they weren't that good looking. Would they become hits if only released on Spotify. Interesting.
Man you know the answer already. Back in the day there was no tiktok or youtube for random people to plug songs. Get to you is a certified classic which probably sold less than 100 copies. Without the marketing engine behind BSB they would have likely suffered the same fate as solid harmonie. Songs like IWITW and IWYB were timeless enough to slowly climb up the chart but it would take a long friend time.
I wouldn't cite the lesley roy album as some kind of hidden gem, 80% of that was straight up MID

Yes, without the means to communicate a song to the audience you have nothing. Every act to show your song is a form of marketing though. Fact is that companies are more willing to put their trust in the request of a record label or publishing company that they have a relationship with than some unsigned act with a good song. But tiktok is also a promotion platform and if you are lucky your song gets used on a million videos of kids, or if you're lucky your song is picked up by the youtube algorhythm, or you get placed on a playlist made by spotify (in the latter case again, record label and publishers are ahead).
Aside from the little promotion that was given to Lesley Roy's album, another example is the 2001 Michael Jackson album. Both albums had the potential to release more singles and therewith become a success. If they were still backed by the record labels, I'm convinced there were more singles released on both albums.

It makes more sense as a country ballad, totally. Christina doesn't sound right and the production is kinda bland.
