Fantastic article! thank you
Interesting article about Jamie Scott where also Benny Blanco is mentioned:
QuoteHe says almost all of his songs are written with the artists that will record it, but in the case of Cold Water it sat collecting dust for months before they were approached to have Major Lazer, Justin Bieber and MØ record it. It was written by chance when he was in New York with American producer Benny Blanco, who invited Ed Sheeran to the studio.
"It was really hot and his air conditioning wasn't working," he says. "We were there sweating. Ed came and we had a bit of food and he suggested we try and write something. He came up with these chords and we wrote this song called Cold Water," he says. "I think there was another artist that we had in mind to write it for but we just ended up writing it anyway. A year later I got a call from my manager saying that [producer] Diplo had heard it and loved it and they maybe wanted to get Justin Bieber on it."

Benny has produced a lot on the album Farewell Starlite by Francis and the lights.
I don't really like the vocals a lot, but I focus on the music and it's quite cool.
Also: He has produced the latest Maroon 5 single which will be out in a couple of hours. Don't Wanna Know ft Kendrick Lamar.

I literally just read another article where Ed Sheeran said he wrote it. He didn't remember writing it, someone else had to remind him that he wrote it. It sounds like a song Justin Bieber could have done years ago. It sounds good but I doubt ed sheeran wrote it.

Since Benny started to work with Magnus he improved his sound SO MUCH.

Zach Sang interviews Benny Blanco.
What a time to play Fortnite, Ilya seems addicted to the game too xD
It gives me the impression that at the end of the interview Zach wanted him to mention Luke or Max, and he didn't so he asked directly and he just didn't add much of what you could expect, he didn't even mention both in his inspirations, but he mentioned Kanye like a lot of times. Kinda disappointing to me.
The video is out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNXDxUQ4c9U
I don't understand his motivations to "become an artist". He clearly doesn't feel comfortable on camera, he doesn't sing and has a bit of stage fright.
Label obligations? It makes sense because he's well established and have the connections... but, really?
Plus, this sounds like a Calvin Harris song. His guitars, the same 909 drums used on One Kiss.
It was about time for Benny to show his urban side, and I don't like it.

Pop Benny was excellent... Stereo Hearts, Moves Like Jagger, A$$ Back Home, those Rixton jams...
I love his stuff with Cashmere Cat.
I guess Halsey's Now Or Never is my fave.

Just for Us Pt 2 is by far my favourite.
Love the vocal arrangement!
Trash. Her voice/lack of charisma can't carry this song... can't believe Benny produced and all the co-writers on it, Leland, Madison Love, etc.
Well, big labels don't want to invest their money building a fanbase for the artists on their rosters and that's why they signed these people.
I didn't know who she was, but the song grew on me, I hope Benny keep doing songs like this, there's so much potential over here.

I agree. I don't have a problem with all the artists coming from TikTok that are actually talented or have some sort of self-awareness, but the ones that are just cashing in on a music career and aren't musically-talented releasing these uninspired, mailed-in tracks are not my thing. Not even good writers and producers can make them sound like solid pop artists.
Almost 9m views on YouTube in two days.

Also, it's a rip off of Curious by Hayley Kiyoko
I'm into this type of minimal production.
Damn bring back the explosive pop productions, benny. these are all a snooze
You can't produce an explosion when your singer can't sing, only whisper. Gracie dated Blake Slatkin's little brother, that's the reason they work with her.
Although, why did Benny turn to producing for it-girls? Career suicide.
I'm not sure if she dates of dated Blake. And Blake was an intern at Benny's.
And I didn't know she is JJ Abrams daughter...

benny blanco – Apple Music 'The Friends Keep Secrets 2' Interview
Benny talks about Max.
Another interview without a single mention of Luke
I think Max and Benny really hate Luke if they never mention him in any interviews of the last few years.
He spoke of Luke in Episode 1 of and the writer is... dates back to 2017.
But why Benny should mention Luke in every interview? It was at the begining of his career...
Because he was talking about the beginning of his career
At first it was like: Jessie and Benny? But they worked together before and she's co-signed to Benny's Friends Keep Secrets.
I really liked Selfish Love, it has really nice vibes.

I literally don't understand how or why a song needs 7 producers. It just looks cheap. The song sounds primarily like a Cashmere production, anyway

It sounds like old Benny and the lyrics are very Mike Posner, I love it although BTS could be easily replaceable
Wow, Benny continues to go down hill.
