What do you think of the new Miley Cyrus single "We can't stop"

All the new singles of the Disney ladies (Demi, Selena, Miley) are hyped so much. I don't know if the hype is bigger than their songs actually.
I don't even know their past since I'm not interested in Disney or the like ... anyway, Demi is one of my favorite albums this year, Selena's current single is amazing and this new Miley song is awesome as well! thus the hype is well deserved in my opinion :D
who produced this?
Mike Will Made It 8) 8) 8)
Good song , it sounds a bit different.
omg I hate this on so many levels....but most of all I hate (on ANY record) that STUPID distorted male voice "It's our party we can...blah blah".. I'd literally rather have a tooth fllled than listen to this all the way through, and in fact I couldn't make it even halfway through the song!!

Ah, that's funny, B !! :-) Well, at least I hope you got high from some nice pain killer at the dentist! That can be the only good part of having a tooth filled! This song doesn't get me high though...just gets me mad that she's putting out such low level trash. I admit the chorus melody is kinda good, but the rest of it...........

nope, unfortunately I didn't get high haha ... I had no pain so I can't say it was terrible or the like ... maybe you have a dental fear? :D
I don't know ... but I really like this song!!! maybe it's due to the fact that I just fell in love with Miley (she's perfect with her new hair!!!) but the song has just a nice atmosphere and I love her voice even though it's artificial as f*ck ... but itgot something very special!!! also I'm a big fan of Mike Will Made It, what a high flyer!!! apart from that it's another song with the famous I-V-VI-IV chord progression :D
I can't make up my mind! the male voice is really annoying, but I don't mind some of the rest of it, it's pretty catchy!
but I think they have distorted her voice so much, I don't think I would have even known it was Miley if I wasn't told.
It's not too bad, maybe even a bit of a grower for me. So weird that it's like a party song yet so slow and laid back. Doesn't sound to me like they've done anything unusual to Miley's voice for the most part.
B... it's actually I iii vi IV. You think... I know. Hahaha, kidding of course. :P
I don't mind the low pitched male voice, reminds me of that Kendrick Lamar song "Drank". Much less annoying than being Akon pitched up or will.i.am over-tuned.
What? That's barely her voice anymore ...
Hahahah! :D yeah you're right! I didn't proof it exactly anyway, just checked if you can sing "Whistle" along the song :D I mean iii is the relative key to V but still I was wrong ...

Yeah they're totally interchangeable with one another, actually part of the reason I love "Walks Like Rihanna" is down to the way they exchange V in the first half of the chorus for iii in the second, that's what hit me on my first listen.
There's some chorus/doubling on her vocal in places, but in the verse especially it just sounds like regular old Miley to me. I need to listen again, but I thought they only started messing with her voice for effect right towards the end?
The 2nd Selena Gomez single is much better then this and it was released on the same day as this Miley single.
Rock city wrote this miley single (They wrote Rihanna - "Pour It Up"...Kelly Rowland - Kisses Down Low)
Cool song tho

Yeah it's the writing team that Mike Will Made It is working with. Thus it's no surprise that he produced all these songs ;)
I hated it at first listen, then it became a grower.
Line that I like and can't avoid to sing out loud: "Ladadedade, we like to party" Cheesy but effective.
Yeah the pre chorus is amazing! But what is she singing after these lines? Dancing with Molly or Dancing with Miley??
I think it's Molly, but no one is going to admit it. They want some attention generated by some "controversial thing" á la If You Seek Amy.

i liked the song but it could have more potential with her voice, she got a nice voice
but the lyrics are nothing special ..
the rapper, i dont know.. maybe should be left out the song, maybe not..
but i like the song but its not WOW or AMAZING for me.
its just something i can listen for 1 time, then probably forget..
i am surprised this was NOT produced by Dr.Lukee!
I don't know why but also this one grows on me with every listen. It's a very different style but still it is very catchy.
Hopefully the album will be as good.
Really looking forward to hearing this......alot of buzz on it, including alot of people want it for next single....here's quote form RCA exec Peter Edge in current Billboard issue (Miley cover story)....
"A lot of people wanted to try to make me the white Nicki Minaj," Cyrus says. "That's not what I'm trying to do. I love 'hood' music, but my talent is as a singer." To that end, Edge is particularly excited about "Wrecking Ball"-a defiant power ballad produced by Dr. Luke with a thrilling vocal performance. "We were inspired by One Republic, and the way Timbaland used to do those big ballads," Cyrus says. Edge adds: "When Miley came to us she had really good songs already, including 'Wrecking Ball,' which blew us away. It could be a career song for her."
Timbaland ballads???

Excited for the track but not for the one who sings it. Miley Cyrus isn't a singer of ballads, her manish vocals are for loud music!

Thx 4 the info! It's like 2 seconds but they sound awesome! Low tempo with dubstep elements. I guess it'll sound similar to Inside Out / Both Of Us / You Da One

Ha, so fun (and great) to see these fans freaking out over this song on Twitter even though you can barely hear a snatch of it :-) I have a strong feeling it's gonna be a Monster of a song!!! So far it actually reminds me of a slowed down "Since U Been Gone", but with an even more ferocious energy at the beginning of the chorus (if that's possible).......that'll be nice!

well now I'm disappointed, doesn't sound good to me :-\ well, at least better than the first instrumental in the video ;D

I second that. I don't think she's attractive at all.
"can't you see it's [you] who [ain't] bout dat life!"
I don't even understand that sentence even though I understand the words. :)
do not find her at all attractive.
Her face bothers me, and she annoys the crap out of me.
I work at a retail store, and over the Christmas season I saw so much of her face all over children's toys/accessories I thought I would vomit.
She honestly has a weird rabbit face.

Yup, or Lana Del Rey-ish. Dr. Luke bombast in the chorus?! Only in the first line ...
The second verse is my favorite part of the song. There I get the feeling the song could become bigger but the second chorus abates my hope.
I love the song , The melodies are great! , not somehing new but it's so pleasant to hear.
The chorus reminds me to ''If I had you'' By Adam lambert.
What a beautiful song, can definitely relate. Those relationships always leave a scar in your heart. Oh and there's nothing "Timbaland" about this song, Miley was high on molly.
the pre-chorus = Summertime Sadness
I love the production -Cirkut is a genius- and I agree with the Marina and the Diamonds - Lies / Lana del Rey - Summertime Sadness comparisons.
This sounds like a midtempo bonus track produced by Dr Luke & Cirkut and written by Ester Dean for Talk That Talk or The Harold Song by Ke$ha, a favourite of mine production wise.

Good point, Turnaround....I think this may be partly why it's so good, and different sounding.....I looked up Stephan Moccio recently, for example....he's an excellent pianist/composer/arranger....classically trained......
Probably this was also for another artist (Marina and the Diamonds?!) and would have been a calmer song than it is now. Dr Luke came in made it match with Mileys current sound/image.
I think the A&R found the song interesting and decided to pitch it for Miley. To fit the "edgier" pop sound of the album, they sent it to Luke & Cirkut to produce it and they made some minor changes, so they got minor writing credits.
It's not that usual in producer to get writing credits of songs they didn't write, but usually A-list artists do that to get royalties.
And a new acoustic version with new vocals was released, with the usual country vocal runs she usually does.

This is one record though -- even though it's a really good song on it's own -- where the production/sound is what makes it great. I can't even imagine the record any other way, it's so powerful. I wanna listen to the acoustic version too, though!! :D

Wrecking Ball :P
Sasha Skarbek was part of the team that wrote it first, then the label had it sent to Dr. Luke. Happened to Rami/Carl for Starships with RedOne.
Ah, thanks for that information.
You realize the song is a very classic pop tune and melody but it had to go through the Dr Luke sound machine to match it the "new Miley".
In a stripped-down way it could have been a James Blunt song.
I like a lot Wrecking Ball, it's a grower for sure.
But her voice is SO country sounding -not in a bad way- that sounds out of place with those urban beats and stuff.
What do you guys think?
I know country is not that cool so that's why they're doing it mainstream, but look at Taylor Swift's Red... and she nailed.

Well, to me her country sound works great with urban too.......actually if you think about it, the roots of pop (via blues and R&B originally) are Southern-- only later did it turn into what we call "urban".....then again, I lean toward that cuz I have Southern roots in my family, although I didn't grow up there myself: but it's in my blood, so I love it! :D

Agree, should get a Grammy for song of the year. Also, Lady Gaga and R. Kelly's performance on SNL of "Do What You Want With my Body" made Miley on VMAs look like a Girl Scout performance, lol They did everything but actually......ahem. I loved it :D

Every American (lyrics) writer seems to be into self-help/coaching :).

I'm glad it wasn't part of the brilliant Bangerz album.
I really like "Nightmare"! very catchy and I'm not normally a Miley fan.
I like it, but the chorus sounds like The Night Is Still Young

Miley contributed with two songs for an episode of the third season of Black Mirror.
She played a pop star gone wrong. Both songs are Nine Inch Nails versions produced by The Invisible Men.
I'm stuck with On A Roll, which is a version of NIN's Head Like A Hole.
This is awesome

I've been listening to her EP and I'm stuck with Mother's Daughter and I'm really enjoying the John Cunningham productions.
Miley sang with Anitta at this weekend's Lollapalooza Brasil.
She ate Anitta alive.

Miley Cyrus — Flowers
She took two songwriters to produce and two producers to co-write the track:
Written by Gregory Aldae Hein, Michael Pollack, Miley Cyrus
Produced by Kid Harpoon, Tyler Johnson

Probably from Plastic Hearts sessions because Michael Pollack worked with her then and never worked with ALDAE.
Does she change the focus to the older auditory?
