Written and produced by Dr. Luke and Joy Oladokun
I don't know who this guy is, but he brings a side of Luke that I'm not used to hear.

I like it. I normally don't listen to a lot of Folk, but this is good. You can hear hints of Luke in the song, but it's in a different genre that he doesn't normally delve in.

Joy's work is very hyped. Not the kind of music we're used to hear but it's nice though.

this is really nice. gives me old school Luke when he specialized in acoustic guitars. simple production but nice melody for sure

I'm not sure, I saw it on Genius the other day, listened to the snippet, and while it does sound like him, i'm going to take it with a  grain of salt. We don't know if the song is produced by him, as of today, his credit was removed on the website. The best thing to do is wait for the song to come out, and then check the credits to see. I'm not really the one to jump to conclusions.

It is produced by him. It's not jumping to conclusions. It hasn't been publicized anywhere because Nicki wants the song to do well presumably.

But it's been confirmed to me by someone on the song that Luke produced it. Also, it sounds just like him & he also liked her Instagram post with the song snippet.

Before this one and Big Energy I don't recall Luke doing many samples in the past. Would be this his new direction?
Maybe it's something he took from Max since he always said he didn't like sampling.

I have a feeling that's the direction he's going in. Samples are def on fire right now. Beyonce's recent album being a huge indicator of that.

Ava Max does it a lot in her music which makes me wonder if she'd work with Luke. Seems like he likes doing it for his rap/hip hop-pop artists

Also doja cat song Like That is sampled from a song from notorious BIG (which is probably also sampled as puff daddy was involved in that one).
Using references to the past are hot now, and this includes samples

I don't think "Like That" was sampled. As far as I know, Biggie isn't credited and neither are the writers of the song he sampled "Between the Sheets" by The Isley Brothers.

I can hear the resemblance but it's not a sample and it's not credited.

Usually, people sues if someone use a sample without clearing it.

Here's the Baby E's track "Untrustable" featuring Kim Petras. Baby E put in a tweet why the song isn't on streaming services yet.
https://twitter.com/iBabyE/status/1563249828519219201
Quotei’m sry guys smth weird is going down with streaming, i uploaded this a week ago.. but i suggest u listen n dl on soundcloud for now.

For now, It's on Soundcloud if you want to listen to it. It's good, but i can't help but feel like Kim's verse is a little too short, like, her feature was put in last minute. It would have been nice to have Kim sing more on the song instead of just the final verse. Like, have her sing on the second verse instead of Baby E, and maybe harmonize with Baby E and add some adlibs like she did with Homework with lil aaron. Despite my criticism, I will say it is an improvement to Internet Girl, which is meh to me, as I find the chorus a little too repetitive.

I'm loving Kim's album, I think the variety of producers ended up being a good for her, she's proven she can make bops with everyone she's working with. Thousand Pieces was a little bit of a let down, but maybe that's the beginning of more to come. Also it's the first time in also like 10 years seeing Luke collaborating with other swedes.

The Cirkut songs are the highlight

I've been checking it using the playlist I have created https://spotify.link/NuvQlLADkDb
I don't think I have missed any, I've used ASCAP, Tidal, Wikipedia, Genius, iTunes and Jaxsta as my sources. And sometimes word of mouth for the older releases.

Actually, I've just realized I got quite a few likes on that playlist in particular

EDIT: if you found a song I've missed please tell me, I'd add it right away

The pre-chorus sounds a bit like Pink's Who Knew, so maybe Bad News interpolates that song which Luke (and Max) produced and that's why RX posted about it? But there's limited credits on Tidal, so not sure officially.

also interesting if true bc 'Who Knew' and 'Bad News' sound like similar titles

This one sounds like Mika - Relax. They took the chord progression as well as the best melody line from Mika's chorus. ,,Relax - take it eaaaaasy" ... they took the melody on the word ,,easy" and replaced it with ,,hoooottterr now" lol

It's not like it hasn't been a problem before, the difference is that all eyes are on Katy right now, I wouldn't complain about that on another time.

To me sounds very much like what Oliver did with all his collaborations with Slayyyter and Kim Petras, that's his style.

A demo leaked and has a different structure and a different bridge with a guitar solo.
Title: Re: Dr. Luke Productions Thread

I loved that guitar solo from the demo, but it lacked a good transition to the final chorus. It's interesting how the lyrics are mostly unchanged from the demo, kinda like the demo of part of me that was sorta similar but less punchy.

LIFETIMES - Katy Perry (https://open.spotify.com/intl-es/track/0K8sKuo6xLHZgySZmmw2rV?si=599d7880f821441c)

Written by Lunchmoney Lewis, Katy Perry, Rocco Did It Again!, Ryan OG, Sarah Hudson, Theron Thomas, Vaughn Oliver, Dr. Luke
Produced by Dr. Luke and Vaughn Oliver

It's FAR superior than Woman's World, but I'm surprised with the lack of a second chorus OR a bridge, feels like the whole song is a giant chorus with one verse, the idea is very solid, but for a runtime of 3:14 minutes there's only a minute of new material.
I hope it performs better than Woman's World

i agree, the chorus gets very repetitive heard so many times but maybe that was the goal. the idea is solid but the overall production at times sounds half-baked. sounds more Vaughn than Luke, as well. hoping there's glossier cuts on the full album

Why Cirkut is not involved in this project? He's everywhere atm and he would be a great collaborator.

I like LIFETIMES a lot actually but I didn't understand the structure: the part where the lyrics are "like the sun is always rising" is a verse? a pre?  It only happens one time. There's no verse 2 I think.

And the mix: Serban and Bryce Bordone always make an amazing job.
Title: Re: Dr. Luke Productions Thread

I don't rule out Cirkut yet, but it may be a label thing picking up Dr. Luke track's first since it's a big thing on paper.
I also don't think Cirkut and Luke end up in good terms, after all, Cirkut said he collaborated with Luke because of a contract thing, unless that was a decoy to the allegations of working with an alleged rapist at the time. Either way, it's been 6 years since they collaborated together.

I agree Cirkut and Luke were the best team, with Max Martin ofc.

but lately, Luke's solo production has been better than his collabs. He produced Slut Pop Miami himself which is impeccable from a production/sonic pov. Another example is "Ghetto Love" by big boss vette. his production style is way more glossy, refined, and catchy than even the newest Katy Perry songs.

The internet is not doing too good with the 143 era of Katy Perry overall, social media's reactions can only be described as chaotic, I would say Dr. Luke was the center of all the drama, but then a handful of other issues with message, videos, artistic choices are haunting her left and right.
I feel sad for her, because most of them proves a point besides Luke's arguments.
I'm shocked on how people are labelling woman's world and lifetimes some of the worst songs ever released, it's almost like everyone wants to be on the train of using Dr. Luke to hate Katy as if it's an issue that wasn't present before with other artists that worked with him recently.
At this point I don't think there's anything that could convince the internet otherwise.

Nevertheless, it's weird, the song is co written by Savan Kotecha, whom has collaborated with Katy before.

The song in question, Nirvana, really sounds like Double Trouble, but I haven't seen the credits

EDIT:

The album is out, all the collaborations are a let down, the best one being ARTIFICIAL with JID.
The transitions between the songs are a highlight.
The run of CRUSH > LIFETIMES > ALL THE LOVE > NIRVANA is VERY impressive, wouldn't listen each song separately now.
I was afraid of WONDER being a ballad left for the end as a leftover away from Luke's songs, but I think it's the best one, the most emotional, I wish this is the beginning of more Stargate + Cirkut

She mentioned that LU KALA co wrote at least one of her songs, seems like those didn't make the cut, we'll see if there will be deluxe editions

I love all the tracks, wouldn't say it's a perfectly crafted album, by Luke standards I think basically all the songs could have been polished a little more, but something about working with the same people on so many songs feels a little odd,  I think she needed more sessions with different producers.
I also wonder how expensive all those Luke sessions with all the other co-producers and co-writers was
