What do you think about this?
Sure US #1?
I think it's very hollaback girl-ish, and that's why it works so well. Britney had worse singles, but of course it's not what I want to hear from her.
I think its a stupid song lol. But it will eventually grow on me..
Dreadful. I listened to it this morning and immediately forgot it. I think this is her worst, maybe even worse than "Do Something". Yeah, it will probably be a hit!
I think they wanted to recreate Fancy (same producers, same style). I can't see this one becoming a hit but maybe I just lack some imagination :).

lol there's a bunch of american radio stations who dont want to play it..
I think it is horrible. It was a torture to listen to the end of it.
Ugh.
I honestly love the production! especially the snare rolls right before the chorus
Can't believe the song is getting such hate. It really isn't that bad. It's singsongy mindless pop-- the perfect summer jam. Like how does this not fulfill people's expectation of Britney or Iggy? What else would you expect?
It's not campy enough for Britney fans over 30 years old haha.
Let's wait until the video, maybe it's a grower.

As Huffington Post points out, in John Seabrook's new book of pop music history, The Song Machine, he explains that the track's Swedish writers Max Martin and Rami Yacoub believed that "hit" was American slang for "call." And so the song about the heartache of a recent breakup turned to a hit with the public perhaps a bit confused but none the wiser.
The song had originally been called "Hit Me Baby (One More Time)" but Spears' label Jive Records felt a bit uncomfortable about the suggestion of abuse and removed "Hit Me" from the title.

I can see why the label would change the title to avoid problems....but it's weird to me that anyone would be confused what "hit me" meant: I got that it was slang the minute I heard it, and I wasn't a kid when the record came out :-)
