I am not familiar with her yet - despite having read her name a few times. Nevertheless, she works with Max Martin on her new album :)
QuoteThe Mika collaborator confirmed that she is working with Max Martin (MAX MARTIN), mentioning that "he knows music like math". Fingers crossed Max Martin knows 'math' (maths) well. (Thankfully of course his musical output is in the amazing bracket.)
She also said that she's working with Savan Kotecha, Benny Blanco and Ryan Tedder. They're all very good at pop, right?

Oh looks like she's gonna do pop instead of R&B lol. I don't mind it :D
She has a beautiful voice. I'm excited about this ;D
Woww , Interesting , I want to hear How it will sound.

Me too. But I can't imagine how she would sound together with Max Martin. She should continue with her R&B style.
I think they're working together because Max is the man melody wise and she is an amazing singer to work with.
I have high hopes for this.
who is ariana grande? these new popstars come outta nowhere! :o
I don't like her music, but I have to say that she has a good voice. Victoria Justice is a better performer and has the x factor that could made her successful with Max imo.

They're so different to each other: one's sweet and the other is more "edgy".
And Victoria recorded songs by Dr Luke and Shellback... Begging On Your Knees is actually quite good.

Wow, I had no idea about Kristian Lundin in the credits.
I can't see Victoria Justice whoring herself out, but I can definitely see Ariana Grande doing it, so that's why she'll be in the spotlight.
Problem is the song by Savan. Maybe also Max.
Yes that's what i think because we know iggy azalea had worked with max and he's not credited on her new album. And Problem features iggy! I know another swede is involved from the lvnt team.
I'm guessing a shellback-Max production on this ;)

Excited! , I need to hear it in full , I think it will sound like ''Dark horse'' With this Break.
I think you can't compare these songs. Of course both songs are singer feat. rapper songs with pop and Hip-Hop elements but dark horse was a dark/slow/trappy song while this one here sounds like an easy listening/R&B song

The song is already #18 by iTunes pre-orders only. Probably a #1 soon.
Released very soon. Don't know where this comes from. But another Max #1 is always welcome.
FREAKING LOVE IT!!
The bridge sounds great , but where is the chorus?? I suppose it is the Break , The bridge is the best for me.
oh wow! I love it, it's so good. but yeah, where's the chorus? just the guy singing "I got one less problem without you" - who is the guy singing?
oh, I see the guy singing is Big Sean.
The guy sounds like Savan?
QuoteThe song produced by ZEDD is called 'Problem' and in it, she shows a new sound, as she said, in this second album she tries to enjoy other music styles away from the melodic pop / R&B included in her debut.

I didnt really like it actually. It doesnt sound Maxish!
The same "Saxo" Ariana used was actually done by a very famous Lebanese singer "Listen" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_6OUqO7vx4). Max copied lol! j/k
Yeah I'm rather disappointed. The sax is fun, but the melodies aren't really there. I can't believe this is Max/Shellback/Kotecha...
I like this fresh sound , but I miss a Big chorus , Anyway Amazing if Max get the 1# in USA and Beats To Mariah Carey.
I also think the song needs a better chorus, but the verses are awesome and the hook is the pre-chorus.
I've never been into Iggy Azalea but I really enjoyed her part.
Shellback is not involved :)
BTW:
QuoteActually the other producers involved are quite good too seeing as they include Ryan Tedder, Zedd, Benny Blanco, Rodney Jerkins and Key Wane.

And, The Weeknd appears in the credits on Love Me Harder. Not being a feature, that song must have a sample of The Weeknd.

Yes, true. But I love her doing some Mariah esque stuff... because Mariah herself can't do it anymore.
Her whistle register and her soft low register -like whispers- are heavily influenced by Mariah post Daydream but her higher chest voice it's way thinner than Mariah's.
I'd love to hear something more 90's instead of EDM, like Mariah's Fantasy but current sounding.
Or even something like these Evelyn Champagne King rip offs that Pharrell Williams produced for Jennifer Hudson's new album.
I'm scared of the album based on this song with Zedd.

I hope our A&R god is listening! hahaha
When I just first listenend in to "Break Free" all I could hear was "Beauty And A Beast" with a female voice. lol

Yeah, I also got the oops I did it again vibe. They're really pushing the whole 90s thing on her. She emulates many different female popstars from that era. She kinda sounds like Brandy on that track with Big Sean.

QuoteGrande wasn't so sure. "I hated it at first," she says, describing her vocals on "Break Free," which she sings ahead of the beat. Co-producer Max Martin convinced her to sing in what she calls a "more forward placement." "I was like no, no, no! Please just let me sing it how I would sing it," she mock-whines. "But he was like, 'Just try it. Trust me.'" She loved the results. "I was so pleased when I tried something that I thought -- no, that I knew I would hate."

Co-producer Max Martin convinced her to sing in what she calls a "more forward placement." "I was like no, no, no! Please just let me sing it how I would sing it," she mock-whines. "But he was like, 'Just try it. Trust me.'" She loved the results. "I was so pleased when I tried something that I thought -- no, that I knew I would hate."

i don't think it's that technical. she doesn't sing ahead of the beat, he means more the emphasis of her singing... particularly the pre-chorus i think. "when i say
i don't want ya"
I'm interested in this "forward placement" too. Max has so many ideas, or is this typical?
She calls it "forward placement".
What Max wants is grab the attention of the listener.
I really HATE Break Free -mainly because I can't stand that overrated Zedd stuff- but I know the words and the melodies after two or three listenings and Max is the best making catchy melodies.
He did it, that's it.
And he have done the same so many times before, that's his talent.

Quote9. 'Love Me Harder' feat The Weeknd (by Max)
As anyone with fully functioning ears will tell you, The Weeknd's own songs are a non-stop borefest of emotional inertia, but 'Elastic Heart' showed that he's pretty good in small doses. And that's true of 'Love Me Harder', which starts small and slightly pervy - "if you let me invade your space" is uttered in the first verse – before mushrooming out into a 'throbbing', electro-heavy chorus. There's a really catchy post-chorus bit where Ariana sings "love me, love me...harder, harder" before some big vacuum-esque synths zip around all over the show.
8.5/10
I'm afraid of this.

Here she says "One Last Try" was done by Max, Savan and Rami... Could it be?
Edit: Popjustice says the same! And Falk, obviously.
MAX AND RAMI.
Oh. Probably Savan wrote it with both individually then. I don't believe they were all together. :)
But great to hear. The MKTO song was nice.

Because, always make sure to remember:
MAX AND RAMI ARE IN A VERY, VEEEERY SERIOUS BIG FIGHT !!!*coughdramadramadramacough*
LOL
If I were in a fight with someone and really didn't want to have nothing in common with someone, I wouldn't do a cowrite. Even a "non presential" co-write.

You're of course right, but Martin just loves to keep this fairytale alive of Max & Rami being in a big fight! ;)
Rami and Max hung ut just a month ago on their spare time so yeah, don't think they have much of a grudge going on.
Oh nice to hear :D
just out of curiosity, where did you hear about that AlexanderLaBrea???
maybe max took care of the vocal productions in the studio with ariana, and rami/carl produced the track and wrote the song with savan?
Well maybe Rami was in the studio as well since ariana mentioned him and not carl.
He (Max) is a returning visitor at this marina type establishment in Stockholm right next to the studio I work in from time to time. He was there a month ago with Rami (when I was out of town...). The singer me and my songwriting partner work with right now took photos.

Yes!! Perfect song, thanks -- made my day :D And that MTV site is great -- no pop-ups, etc, just clean and it works!!
My favorite song now, period, let alone favorite Max song. Ariana is the real deal man.
"Just a Little Bit of Your Heart" by Harry Styles (from 1D) has also been produced by Shellback and Max according to wikipedia.
It's really very cliché and the production is very classic.

I can't handle the goodness of these songs. Love Me Harder has me SPEECHLESS, a completely perfect, strong, rich production... so sultry & slow burning. one of my favorite productions of the year by far. Max is brilliant. And her voice on it is just golden.
Onto Be My Baby which is so slick... wow, pop music brilliance right here.
Man I hope they make Love me Harder next single.......I think they will because it's a good contrast to ''Problem'' and 'Break Free'...... like the guy's singing too...there's not a bad moment in the entire song............

Be My Baby samples the chord progression from some R'NB song I think from the 90's, but I can't remember which one yet :D

Would love to see the photos. 8) 8)
A Little Bit of Your Heart reminds me a bit of Shania Twain. specifically the swoop at "that's all i'm asking ffoooOooor"
These 4 songs are so solid. Why Try is a great nostalgic pop track, with that wistful, yearning feeling, good lyrics... Love Me Harder hit me "hardest" first, then Be My Baby (that last chorus and ad-libs are fire)... but Why Try has great single potential.
this album is gonna be hands down amazing. it already is

Wtf is wrong with the part from 0:58 - 1:19. It sounds so horrible!!
I really like this song but I can't get over this part
PS: the R&B songs on the deluxe version are better than any R&B song on the standard edition
All in all it's an amazing album!!! I just miss a golden thread. But I didn't expect it since we have so many different top songwriters. Of course they only took care of any single song, not of the whole album
Uhm, that's my current mood while listening.
Do you guys like Rami's song "One last time"

Wiki got some different credits now. I guess this is more relevant, the only thing I wonder about is one last time when even ariana said Max worked on that lol. But the fact that peter carlsson is vocal producer and not max on some of the songs made me surprised. And according to this, neither shellback or martin was involved in track 10.
The CD was released in Germany, I believe the credits now are reliable as people could check the booklet. Maybe I do this tonight also.
Just got my hard copy
JALBOYH is written by H. Styles & J. Carlsson
produced by J. Carlsson
Vocal-produced by P. & J. Carlsson
No Max or Shellback involvement
Love Me Harder is produced by A. Payami & P. Svensson
There is also a long "special thanks" list, headed by Max Martin ;)
PS: wiki has the right credits too now
J Carlsson is Johan Carlsson?
And Peter Svensson is my favourite person right now.

CRAZY album!!!! Love it so much!
Best non-posthumous ( ;) ) album 2014!
I'm not really enjoying the album to this point.
I expected some interesting stuff but this dude that manages Justin Bieber is only appealing to a teen audience instead of widen it up and that makes it really boring having a big budget to spent in collaborators and songs.
They're playing safe as hell.
I should have put a more 90s influenced type of music: with some g-funk or 90s heavy-inspired single. Mariah is the biggest influence and model.
Her fans don't know about the 90s and we're nostalgic about them.
so disappointed with the last Love Me Harder chorus, could've been so much stronger!!!
my absolute favorites are: Why Try, Bang Bang (everything after Nicki's part is just fantastic), Love Me Harder & Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart!
but hey, the whole album is freaking amazing. so happy with it :)
the awards for best song development go to Be My Baby and Bang Bang!

can't stand the Weeknd's singing voice. especially that weird vibrato he does when he shakes his head... i get creepy vibes from him too...
I'm surprised about his voice control, reminds me a bit of Craig David at times when he does this poppier stuff.
The song is great, hope this will be a hit.

Yeah, he was totally on pitch -- nice to hear! Liked the way he did the bridge, too, with that little gesture to the band before it started. And that little "Uh-oh-oh-oh--oh" adlib on last chorus: slick!! Agree , hope it will be a hit too -- it's my favorite of all current Max-involved songs ;-)
I love that song so much too! it's my favourite as well.
I love their performance. The Weeknd's voice is perfection. I hope it's a hit as well!
