Boybands everywhere.
QuoteThe single is called 'Walks Like Rihanna' and will be out on June 23. It was co-written and produced by sorely underused pop alchemist Dr Luke, which may or may not be a good thing.
Last album by The Wanted featured a Rami song. So maybe this time Max is involved?
Let's see.

LOL, great songtitle!
Sounds like it'll be great :-) Hey did you see right next to the article about this song on PopJustice, Spotify has a special little "We Love You Max" music player? All Max songs (but you gotta be on Spotify to hear 'em).
Oh, haven't noticed!
Here is a little snippet of the single:

Sounds rather boring ...
I think this may turn out to be one of those stand-out gems of Dr. Luke's like "About You Now" & "Nothing in This World". 100% pop melody. Love that delicious synth in chorus I keep forgetting name of that's also in "Domino" --here it's on the off-beats (Juno?) Makes me happy too, because to me this is Dr. Luke's absolute best style-- pop/rock ear candy without a lot of trendy effects.
One listen and I'm already obsessed with the melody and chords of this chorus, it's the kind of pop I've been missing for so long.

Yeah those two are among his very best for sure. He's obviously capable of writing great melodies.
Wonderful chorus! Hope it will be a smash worldwide...
It seems a great pop song , the melody is very good.
The melody of the line ''Walk like rihanna'' reminds me a bit to ''Caught in the middle'' of A1 and the verse before the chorus in ''I knew you were trouble'' , a melody so familiar :D
Was hoping for more...
It's full , I love the song , pure pop.
Where can we listen in full? Is it on youtube?
Interesting - Katy Perry co-wrote it apparently.
Or is it wrong information. Some sites just said: "Written by Dr Luke who worked for Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson"
Maybe some were confused by this.

Thanks. I don't think it's a superb song, but of course very radio-friendly. I wonder if this will get The Wanted to #1 again.
I don't want to sound like I'm overreacting here, but this is probably my favourite song of the year so far. I know the cheesy Rihanna line might be a bit much, but "who cares" when you've got a chorus so damn melodic, and set over a perfect pop chord progression. Even the decision to change the one chord in the second half of the chorus takes me to pop heaven. It really feels like more of a Max track to me, and I love the attention given to the melody and chords with a simpler production. I was listening to the clip repeatedly today, I couldn't wait to hear it in full, so you can imagine my joy right now. I'd be interested to know if Katy was involved, she is close friends with Rihanna, so maybe she came up with the lyric idea?
I really need to listen to this in HQ. The harmonies in the chorus are indeed poptastic. It's a great song for the spring/summer.
Glad The Wanted are so poppy and don't go the RnB way.

Oh thanks Andrea! I'm madly in love with this song, I've listened to it about twenty times tonight. It gives me the same feeling I had when I first heard songs like "I Want It That Way"... which might sound like a big call, and I'm not saying that it's necessarily as good, it's just that the melody/chords give me the same kind of exciting chills.

Wow, fascinating, thanks Andrea :-) Even from the radio rip you can tell the final has so much more punch than this.....but even on this the CHORUS just jumps out as great! Funny the little "Whoah-oh" in the second verses is more suppressed on this....it's the same 'Whoah-oh" as in "The One That Got Away" verses btw......Katy's touch, I guess......
I think it's really an amazing song... one of the best pop songs of the last years!
I said i find it rather boring. But now that y'all like the song that much I thought I give it a second listen ... but still it's one of the most boring songs of Dr. Luke for years to me ... I don't get y'all ...

That's the beauty of our different tastes. :) I don't think the lyrics are anything to write home about, and the production is fairly stock standard (though in this case that's a positive in my books, I'm getting tired of over the top production). It's purely the brilliant melody and chord combination that makes it magical for me. It's so simple, yet so striking and emotive.

I doubt simplicity is your issue with it. Songs like "Sibera" and Britney's "Gimme More" have extremely simple melody lines, but they work. Avril's "Hot" is as simplistic as anything, and if you're a fan of will.i.am, well then you're probably enjoying songs where verses rarely stray from one or two notes. #thatpower is hardly elaborate.
So maybe the harmonics just don't make your brain go giddy, who knows the science behind why we like what we like. I mean, "Beauty & A Beat" and "I Knew You Were Trouble" don't do anything for me, but I bet I'm in the minority there... it's just how it is!
This song will be a MASSIVE HIT!!!!!

I doubt simplicity is really your issue with it, considering "Everyone" is less elaborate melody-wise, another example of a great song with a simple melody. Even songs like "Sibera" and Britney's "Gimme More" have extremely simple melody lines, but they work. Avril's "Hot" is as simplistic as anything too! It's simply the whole song. It got nothing special to me. Still I'll buy it. But I expect more from Dr. Luke.
Beauty And A Beat / I Knew You Were Trouble. are two of the best songs ever.
I gave it a 3rd listen and I think I figured out what's annoying me the most in this song:
- the guitars ... you can hear them from the beginning till the end so that they get really boring to me
- the drums ... very boring rhythm, barely or even no variety at all
- the chorus ... the first chorus is too short and the vocal melody is very predictable

You see my point then. :D To me the only thing that stands out in those two tracks is the production, which isn't enough for me to love them. Different courses for different horses, as they say.

I'm thinking production plays a big role in what you like and dislike, which is cool of course. Having a short first chorus is pretty standard, so many songs tease with half choruses, yet with this song it's full length anyway. I also don't mind a predictable melody if it's good... though I don't find this one predictable myself. For me the simplicity is what makes it such a strong melody, because every note works brilliantly to my ears, without any need to complicate things.
Just wait until the song/album is available on iTunes/amazon and I'll tell you how great it is! ;)
The high keynote is the most annoying thing in this song. It's used excessive here.
I think simpleness is the best in the pop music , the best pop songs ever have simple melodies , I love this song for the melody of the chorus , it grabs you in the first listen. Maybe the verses are a bit generic but are good too.

How can you compare this song to a #willpower song?? That's really not how I think. When I listen to a Dr. Luke song I have the highest possible expectation. I'm not thinking of other producer's (except Max Martin & Co.) work when I listen to a Dr. Luke production.
Btw I'm really glad you removed the "Everyone" comparison from your comment ... How could you compare this Cheiron-Lundin-masterpiece to a 2013 song? ...
Seems risky for them to preview this in such really horrible LQ sound from one radio broadcast preview.......I mean I love the song, but this is like taking a Porsche onto the Autobahn and being stuck in first gear.......the actual record is gonna have G Forces pushing you back in your seat :D
I love it! I agree with Raul, it is so A1's "Caught in the middle"
However, I think it is one of Dr Luke's best. A hit for sure
I wonder who came up with the title? Walks Like Rihanna is almost like Moves Like Jagger!
Official Audio up on Wanted's YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38q7DGPYMjQ&list=UUD0BJ0znkCCrPjIsxX8OE1Q&index=1 They tagged it to prevent rip offs, but still a big improvement...I already felt like this will be #1 in UK, but after listening to it now in HQ a bunch of times I got this chill that it's gonna be huge here in US this summer too.....it's a joyful song, and people love that :D
I love the Bridge section!....its soooo good
The boom boom lyrics are a clear sign it was a Dr. Luke song, even more if Katy Perry actually helped co-write it.
hey guys! did you know that this song is great?! ;D
finally I love it ! :)
Was falling asleep last night when I realized the most amazing thing about this song.......how compact the chorus is. With just one little change in bass line and ending melody on sus 4, it's just 4 bars repeated twice, with exact same lyrics. It's very hard to come up with something strong enough to get away with this.....especially with lyrics.

Because you were referring to the melody as being boring, so I was trying to point out that some of the best pop songs have melodies with similarly little variation. Including "Everyone", I just thought it wasn't as good an example as the others to make my point, but it does repeat an almost identical line four times. Plus, why should will.i.am or any song written in 2013 not be compared to Max & Luke's work? Music is music to me, if will.i.am makes a track I love, then I love it. I won't say "I love it because it's half as good as a Max track". :)
You got me wrong ...

Guess so, as I found this http://riffraffpr.com/the_wanted_prs.html which lists those three, along with Dr. Luke and Cirkut. Purely my instinct, but remember that demo of the song Andrea posted in this thread? My gut feeling was that it wasn't a Dr. luke demo --something about the sound wasn't quite him.....so maybe those three guys (two of them have a production duo in UK called"Electric" and have made songs for Ronan Keating, Cheryl Cole and others) wrote and demoed the song, and Luke and Cirkut did the final production?
Actually, as far as Luke & Cirkut being listed FIRST on the PRS composer (and publishing company, for Dr. Luke) credits, it kind of defies logic that they would've written the large part of the song, and then sent it to THREE other guys to co-write and demo it! :-) Although I guess they could've written the basic track and sent it out to different top liners, and cuz of their clout, they get top billing..... Here's a link to a really great, eye-opening (and funny, but factual I think) article about what really goes on with this stuff......it's about Beyonce, but it applies to alot more situations....

Amazing , I love the chorus.
Love, love, love it! It's choruses like this that make me a Cheiron fan. These guys have been really impressive of late. They had a single in between "Walks Like Rihanna" and this called "We Own The Night" which I liked too.
