What do you guys think about the dr. luke comeback?
het got a number one this year with say so and is like they (industry) are hearing his side of the story now
Couple weeks ago Avril lavigne followed him on instagram but people start to get mad and then she unfollowed him
https://twitter.com/support4avril/status/1314279223318765568
I think it's great. He deserves success because he's incredibly talented.
There's no reason why he shouldn't be able to work again based on allegations which, as each year passes, are fading in the public eye. The fact that the lawsuit went above its intent to "seek justice" and became a defamation and slander parade is what rubbed me the wrong way. It's one thing to take it to court but to ruin this man's life and for fans like Avril's to call for her to not follow him on social media... it's craziness. If Chris Brown physically BEAT Rihanna and we saw VISUAL PROOF of that, and he still has his career and has released tons of music, why can't a behind-the-scenes producer do the same? Especially since, in Luke's case, all the claims against him were never found to be true. Not to mention, Kesha has moved on. So why are there still ripple effects of fans and people being so dead set against him? Time to give that up.
All in all, I've been a huge fan of Luke's since 2007 and I really think he sticks out from all the rest as a gifted pop producer/song crafter. I'm excited to hear what's next from him and who he's been working with lately, aside from Kim Petras. I personally think Avril should team up with him again. She's got nothing to lose- her career is in the toilet anyway. But I think he's sticking with up and coming talent like Doja, who we saw explode this past year.
<3
It's one of the faults in our contemporary society to pretend like he was found guilty of committing a crime. Just like racism it is something we should speak out against if it happens in our midst. Because obviously still thinking that luke gave kesha a roofie is irrational as there is no solid proof and there were more reasons for kesha to lie than not to lie considering her contract/money issues.
Enjoy the video he posted on his insta and don't forget to press follow and like :P
I couldn't agree more.
Shall we separate the artist from its craft?
Should we? In the end knowing the artist is a key point when it comes to how someone develops their craft. Luke is what it is because of his background and the people he collaborated with during all these years. I think I'd just rather ignore the whole lawsuit thing and move on.
Yes forget about all that kesha stuff and let's just talk about his music.
Here is a documentary where you see Luke getting peppersprayed by Avril Lavigne. And you actually see him playing guitar in the studio and working on his trademark drums. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KY2Rh-sxs5c&t=988s&ab_channel=AvrilLavigneIsMyDrug
you love to see it . they kept big homie down for too long despite all the evidence including kesha's 2011 deposition saying he was innocent
maybe this taught him not to overexert himself on contracts going forward, doja seems to be going places and already survived multiple 'cancellation' attempts. i will say his beats don't seem to be as expansive as they were before the lawsuit he seems to be frequently reliant on vocals to carry the song, which is why cirkut is currently ahead of him right now

Meh. Cirkut's solo production is good but a little lackluster compared to his joint productions with Luke. The Ava Max project is great, but like I said, is missing that undeniable Luke shine and precision.
Why Cirkut and Luke are not working together anymore?
Cirkut had a contract at prescription song which expired. He probably has more potential to make bigger money without that contract, since Luke is known for signing people with not a royal amount of pay out. Ask Bonnie Mcphee, who spoke about it on Ross' podcast. Cirkut mentions the expired contract in an interview and says that he has no issues with Luke.

I'll check that out!
Love that Avril did an attempt. At least she tried.
Also, love that Luke and Avril connect now, I remember discovered this forum ten years ago searching "Why Avril and Dr Luke don't work together anymore"
It's a phase for most artists, not everyone collaborates with the same people over and over, we've got exceptions like P!nk, but even Ariana after 6 years of continuous collaboration with Max it came to an end (for now) this year with her latest album.
It's also a phase for Avril to collaborate with people whom she didn't collaborate in a long time, hence Lauren Christy from The Matrix on her latest album. I don't know if Avril suits Luke's 2020 sound with her image but she did that collaboration with Nicki Minaj that was out of place and... well... Hello Kitty.
Anything could happen really.
Yes and it was also a phase where Luke started signing artists and he prefers working with his own artists than others he said in an interview.

Is there any new interviews around? I haven't seen a thing after the Kesha lawsuit.
One of the questions during the Kesha lawsuit was if Dr Luke is a public figure - if he was a public figure, then he had to live with the defamation created by Kesha without getting any compensation. The judge ruled otherwise. He is not a public figure - and that might explain why he shun giving interviews during the Kesha case, which was only settled earlier this year if I'm not mistaken. Either way, he has recently posted something on his instagram. Further I have not seen a thing coming directly from him but only things like people talking about him, like in interviews done by prescription songs (rx songs) staff. I'm a huge dr luke fan, so please let me know if there is anything interesting coming out
there was some case ruling this year we missed?
Yes, let me help you https://www.eonline.com/uk/news/1120458/kesha-is-ordered-to-pay-375-000-as-dr-luke-defamation-case-continues There might be newer developments. Another Kid Laroi song by Luke, this time interpolating Reminds Me by Kim Petras which originally was supposed to have Juice WRLD. Instead, it was re-worked with Kid Laroi w/Juice as the feature and re-titled Reminds Me of You.

There's actually 4 songs by Lourdiz produced by Luke since last year, they're interesting, it's like a female version of Baby E, some songs are trash but there's interesting concepts in here

It's not bad but I prefer the songs Luke did for both of them separately. I wonder if Doja came up with this idea or if it was arranged by Luke himself to do this collab.
Luke owns Rx songs and as far as I know, he has publishing credits in every track produced by their staff.
Could be, but he does not have a songwritnig or production credit on all RXsongs output. Aside from RXsongs it is also called Prescription Songs. The former name was Kemosabe.
I think publishing credits are not often stated in the credits of the songs, sometimes when I see the producer's name Luke appears as "Dr. Luke for Prescription Songs" but most of the times he's just Dr. Luke on the producer credits and Lukasz Gottwald on the writer credits (MADE IN CHINA is being used less often and we haven't seen another song by Loctor Duke).

Two things: Rx = is the symbol for a medical prescription. We're talking about the same thing.
And when I mean "publishing credit" is being a writer in every track of the Rx writers.
I don't know if he oversees everything or he is listed as part of an abusive contract...
Oh didnt know that part about RX meaning prescription ;D. But he is not a writer on all output of RXSongs. Some weeks the instagram page of RXsongs posts their new releases in the stories and I investigated the credits to keep my Dr Luke releases playlists for spotify up to date. (Anyone interested in the playlists, search in spotify 'Dr Luke <year you desire>'. I have a playlist for his output categorised per year. In my account you can find the same categorisation of playlists for max martin and oscar holter).
That's cool! When I create playlists for producers I always check Tidal and ASCAP, sometimes you can find leaked demos too by looking at ASCAP
thank you for DR LUKE 98-03!

Love the 808s. Perfectly mixed.
I apologize to Luke fans here, and while having respect for the man I honestly don't see any special value in his songs or productions. To me subjectively production is somehow, well..boring and melodies are a bit childish. It may be only me but productions by Max and exCheirponers sound much lusher, more developed and melodies are more elaborated. I have a feeling that he doesn't do his best while producing. Or simply I am not into that kind of production.

I definitely think he pares down his production for R&B/hip-hop records. It's a lot more simple compared to his pop stuff; for example, the first songs he produced for Kim Petras. Super pop-leaning, lush, explosive last choruses. He doesn't bring that same level of layering and sonic narrative to rap songs for whatever reason. Like the stuff he's done with newcomer Lourdiz.
Well, I think Luke comes from a different background. But he tries.

I expected poppier stuff. I love the vocal production, the layering and the harmonies.
Need to know is more a vibe than a song, I think. And the video is cool.
Sebastian is his middle name.
why is doctor luke not active much more on his twitter account?
Why should he? He has people hired to communicate on behalf of his label. All the communication he did before is basically the same as he has delegated now to employees of Prescription Songs.
allright.. by the way he followed me once in 2012 on twitter and next day unfollowed.. damn it was great tho

Okay, my thoughts on this song, I think it's really good but i can't help that it feels like it just ends abruptly. Like, I feel like an addition of a bridge, or maybe a key change like Kim did with Malibu would lift the song. I would also kind of like to see either Lizzo, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Saweetie or Latto do the verse on this but overall the song is nice.
Lu Kala also has a EP out released back in 2020 if you're interested in hearing more. It's not produced by Dr. Luke but it's a solid listen nonetheless:

While It may sound similar to Doja Cat's Say So, I believe Lu Kala's Pretty Girl Era is doing its own thing. While the former isabout flirting and "swapping gazes" with a person with whom you feel a connection, the latter is more a self-love anthem about valuing what makes you unique and having confidence to know you're special.

Finally...somebody on this forum with some sense. I think nanofives is some sort of bot posting on their behalf and/or is being paid to promote this crap...he/she and one other member constantly just spams ONLY new Wolf Cousins and/or Luke (or whatever disposable new flavor of the month) Spotify garbage anyone connected to these people programs out of their computer. This forum used to be mostly about the actual legendary Cheiron Studios, Denniz PoP and all the great artists/productions (actual music) that came from that amazing studio.
Today it is sadly a far cry from that.
Don't worry about me being a bot, thankfully I'm not, I just ignore your music because I don't like it, and you should do the same if you don't like the things I post.

What's cool is Lu Kala worked on more songs with Aaron Joseph! So hopefully we get more pure pop bops in 2023!
