"Cool for the Summer" was written by Lovato with the collaboration of Max Martin, Ali Payami and Savan Kotecha, who also wrote her last hit "Really Don't Care" featuring Cher Lloyd.
That would be amazing: she have pipes!

According Christopher K from 107.9 The End, the song doesn't sound like anything she's done before, and he has assured "Wouldn't be surprised if it's biggest hit of her career so far!"
The song was recorded on Max Martin's production studios Wolf Cousins, created in Stockholm in 2013, where they were produced hits such as "First Love" by Jennifer Lopez and "Problem" by Ariana Grande.
That's just from that dumb josepvinaixa site?
Doesn't mean anything.
I got dragged for posting the Prince Royce song here, which had just as much confirmation of Max Martin involvement!
Savans tweet, mentioning mxm is a hint. Usually he means Max and not the company. ;)
Yes, he mentioned mxm in a tweet about "Back It Up" by Prince Royce too.
Just means the production company.
Ok, I will move the thread immediately if Max is not involved. Maybe a valid source will appear soon.

MXM is a publishing company owned by max martin. A lot of those guys use #MXM when they push songs. It's the equivalaent of saying #RXSONGS or #APG.
It's not like Peter from PopJustice couldn't identify a song written/produced/published by Max.
Why so skeptical about everything, guys?

Why would the label say Max was not involved in GRL's Lighthouse when in fact he was? ;)
Well, obviously there's information around about Max involvement in any way, that's enough.
Warner Chappell might also be questioned, of course, but that's what they say:

Around 0:55 I hear a Adam Lambert sound ;)
+ Style guitars + Domino chorus
I wish Max wasn't involved... Boring song.
sounds like a mix of 1989 (Style guitars, New Romantics drums, Wonderland vocals) and The Original High haha. dope song though! very interesting how they put the instrumental part between pre and chorus.
Katy Perry wants her summer hit single back.
I think I will enjoy this a lot.
Is that Katy Perry singing the chorus? :P
It sounds different, not sure if it's different in a good way..
It's not an instant chorus. But it works.
I'm sure the glissandos in the chorus were Max's idea, after Shellback's using in almost every song.
Love the production.
I can't remember another song that has an instrumental PRE-chorus. And it's so amazing how they left it out before the last chorus and put it at the very end of the song instead - simply awesome! Just listened to it again through headphone and it's so good that it just made me smile :)
Imagine if Max Martin was something like David Guetta or Avicii - then this instrumental would've been the perfect base for a Max Martin feat. Taylor Swift, Katy Perry & Adam Lambert song :D
Thank you to everyone involved. I love it!
so so so in love with it, damn! body taaaaaaaaaaype <3
Whats up with these sidechain productions lately? -love me harder, one more time, im gonna show you crazy
To me they sound really dated..
I think this song will flop, when youve got a girl that can sing, why not let her sing??!
Turnaround said it-this is a katy perry song

If you see it as more of a drop than a prechorus it makes more sense. This is kind of a softcore spinnin
release.
The drop/instrumental before the chorus reminds me a little bit of a guitar part in Girls Aloud's Graffiti My Soul.
That song is sick!
Wasn't it supposed to be released today?! ???
Yes, but it's still early in the US.
I wonder if they make it available worldwide.
If it was released today, it would be available in the US store by now. :-\

impossible that there's something missing in the iTunes credits as they are the booklet of the digital era.
Demi sounds a lot like Katy Perry on this one.

Would be cool if the song gets the #1 in Sweden. It would be the second Purple&White #1 in Sweden after "Lucky"

Not a flop. 24 on the Hot 100 this week, 13 on Top 40 radio and doing well in sales.
I don't like to reduce everything about sales numbers and charting positions.
And, there's lot of songs that became sleeper hits and became hits with time... and lots of amazing songs that are not hits.

Exactly. It's great when a song does well commercially but it doesn't define how great that song is. CFTS is an excellent pop song, with an equally great music video.

I like Cool for the Summer much better. To be honest, I'm surprised they are bailing on CFTS so quickly, especially for this song. CFTS is Demi's most successful song since Heart Attack.

I like some songs, but I think she needs to define herself as an artist.
Which is what happens often to artists who don't write their songs.
Same with Selena Gomez: it could be anyone.
Stars and Cool For The Summer are by far the best songs.
She thanks Max:
So far "Lionheart" is my favourite song. Such a great anthem. Ina Wroldsen is so gifted.
I checked the album booklet.
Laleh seems to be a superwoman. She does it all. Write, sing, many (also not standard) instruments, arrange, produce - you name it - incredible talent!
Btw - why is she at MXM and not Wolf Cousins? I could not take a photo of the booklet but the credits are pretty interesting.

On first listen the first 1/2 of the album is pretty good but then it falters and you end up not knowing exactly who she is, what she feels or what she stands for. But I gather from interviews she has an interesting story to tell so you wish the album would dig deeper. I'm gonna listen to it again though. So far I feel Selena s album is better (never thought it'd be that way, Demi is the strongest singer but that's not enough)

I'm surprised that no promises and sorry not sorry did so well in the charts.
I'll never get over the Hi-Hat in the last chorus of Old Ways, it's way too loud. It's like the loudest part of the mix.
